"Must I come to the doctor's today, Papa?" I asked my father. I disliked hospitals, doctors, nurses and most importantly needles.
"Yes. I heard that there was something going around and I don't want any of us to get it," My father answered.
I sighed in defeat. We were at the beginning of the queue, thank goodness. The waiting room was fairly crowded, but I just couldn't stand the smell of antiseptic or the sound of crying.
We had been seating in the waiting room for about an hour and my legs were beginning to cramp.
Suddenly, the doctor's door flew open. Everyone's attention was turned to a lady who was crying hysterically. She was being carried out by two nurses. The doctor stood there a bit awkwardly.
The lady was yelling something at him, but due to her crying and speaking at the same time, I couldn't hear a thing. The doctor, nevertheless, understood her and mumbled something into her ear.
A minute later, she calmed down. The nurses let go of her and the couple ahead of us got up to see the doctor. The lady left the waiting room hastily.
"I'm going to get some water," I announced to my parents. I was not only dehydrated, but I needed to stretch a bit. I think my left leg had fallen asleep.
"Don't be too long, Marinette," My mother cautioned. "We are next in line and you know how long that we've been waiting,"
"Don't worry, I won't take long," I promised them. My parents nodded their heads. I nodded back and headed for the water dispenser. It was down the hall.
Luckily for Tikki, no one was there so she could fly out of my bag. "I wonder what the lady was crying about,"
I got a plastic cup. My finger pushed the cold water lever while I held the cup. "I am also a bit curious. But she reminded me of Alya and how she is going to suffer because of Chloé and Sabrina in Literature,"
"She has Nino and Adrien," Tikki pointed out. I took a some sips of my water.
"That is true," I sighed. "But I was looking forward to seeing Adrien again today. I thought that our friendship became stronger after we went to the movies, you know?"
Tikki nodded with a giggle. "I bet it's Literature right now,"
I signed once more. "I could have swapped seats with Nino. He likes Alya so I'm sure he wouldn't mind sitting with her,"
"Then you and Adrien could pick up from where you left off on that night," Tikki gave me an adorable cheeky smile.
I finished my water. "There's always tomorrow, Tikki," She re-entered my bag when I walked back to my parents.

I pushed open the door to my Literature class. Nino's friendly grin greeted me and I grinned back.
I sat at my usual seat - at the front, to Nino's right. We did our handshake, before saying anything else.
I placed my bag beside me. "Hey Nino," I smiled.
"Adrien, dude. What's up?" Nino smiled at me back.
I looked behind me. "Hey Alya," I greeted her. Alya was on her tapping furiously on her phone. She looked up at the sound of my voice.
"Hey Adrien," She greeted back. "Hey Nino,"
"What's up?" Nino frowned.
"Marinette is what's up," Alya replied, going back to her phone. "I haven't seen her in school today,"

"Neither have I," Nino frowned even more.
"Now that you've mentioned it, I haven't seen her at all, today," I frowned, too. Unconsciously, I turned to look at Marinette's empty seat, which was directly behind me.
"Is she sick?" I asked, out of concern.
"I hope not," Alya's fingers continued tapping on her phone. "I've sent her like 15 messages. She was last seen online about a few minutes ago,"
"Bummer," Nino commented. I nodded and sighed in agreement.
"What's a bummer?" A high pitched voice piped from behind me. Nino, Alya and I turned to look at Chloé seated at Marinette's seat.
"What do you think you're doing?" Alya snapped. "That's Marinette's seat,"
"Technically, it was my seat before you little rascals chased us away. Marinette specifically. So since she's not here, I'll reclaim my rightful position," Chloé replied with a sly grin.
"I am not letting you seat near me," Alya cringed away from Chloé. "Get your butt off Marinette's seat and go seat with Sabrina,"
"No," Chloé huffed. "I want to seat near Adrien-kins,"
I sighed and rolled my eyes. Now I see why Marinette found Chloé annoying. My mind went back to the night that I talked to her while Nino and Alya were watching the movie.
Unconsciously, a small smile crept onto my face at the memory.
Our Literature teacher walked in to class and set her books down along with a giant jar. I raised an eyebrow at this. "Roll call," She got out her roll call book.
"Adrien Agreste?"
"Here," I replied.
"Alya Césaire?"
"Here," Alya said with a hint of a frustration in her voice.
"Alix?"
"Here,"
"Chloé Bourgeois?"
"Here!" Chloé replied enthusiastically.
I turned to look at where Chloé was supposed to sit. She was supposed to be at the front, on the right hand side of the class, seated on Sabrina's left.
But now, Sabrina just sat alone there with her hands clasped together in front of her.
I turned to Chloé. "Why can't you sit with Sabrina?"
"Because I want to sit near you," Chloé replied, in a sickening pouting voice.
"You were still seating near me when you were seated at the front," I pointed out.
"I wasn't close enough," She retorted. I sighed in defeat. She reminded me so much of my father. They were both stubborn and liked to get their way.
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" The lady teacher called out.
"Actually miss, Marinette isn't in school," Alya answered.
"Oh no," The teacher frowned. "Do you know why?"
"No, unfortunately I do not," Alya shook her head with a sad expression on her face.
"Well, it is unfortunate that she isn't here. I was planning for us to do a short skit presentation," Our teacher informed us. "Mylène Haprèle?"
"Here," She replied.
"Nino?"
"Here," Nino saluted.
We all waited for our teacher to finish with the role call for our teacher to tell us what we were doing today.
"As I said earlier, we are doing role playing. You will be in two's. To pick your partner, however, you have to come to the front of the class and pick a paper from this jar," She motioned to the jar which was seated on the table. It was filled with papers. That explained the jar that she walked in with. "It has everyone's name in here. Who wants to go first?"

"I will," Chloé strutted to the front of the class. She dug her hand into the jar as her fingers skimmed through all the papers. She stuck her tongue out and lifted her left leg as she looked for a name.
Even a blind person could see that she wanted to be partners with me. And the role playing that we would do would have us kissing. I mentally groaned and silently prayed that I wouldn't have to be her partner.
"Aha!" She held up a paper, with a grin. Her eyes scanned the name and the grin was replaced with a frown. "Ivan Bruel?"
"Are you kidding me?" Ivan face palmed himself. I was ecstatic. I didn't have to work with Chloé. I was fine working with anyone else.
"I'll go next," I raised my hand. My teacher nodded. I got out of my seat and went to the jar. I took a deep breath before reaching into it. I closed my eyes and let my hand look for the paper.
Finally, it settled on one. I opened my eyes and naturally, a smile formed on my face as I saw who I was partnered with. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng,"
Alya sent me a wink as I sat down and I grinned. Nino went next. We all watched as he walked up to the jar.
I raised an eyebrow as his hand kept on picking up and dropping papers. After what seemed like forever, he finally got a paper. "Alya Césaire,"
A gasp came from behind me and this time, it was my turn to wink at Alya. Nino smiled.
I didn't really listen who people partnered with. My mind wandered to who Ladybug could be. Call me crazy for thinking about that at this time but I couldn't help it.
I really wanted to know who she was behind the Ladybug costume. I remember how she had blue eyes. There is someone else who had blue eyes. I racked my brain for the answer to who else had blue eyes but it couldn't remember.
I groaned. I have to look out for blue eyes. And if Ladybug gave me the next clue to who she was. My eyes landed on Alix who was chewing gum.
I nearly fainted when I saw that she had blue eyes. Could she be Ladybug? Could she be the one who had stolen my heart?
There was a possibility. However, something told me that it wasn't her. I have to ask Ladybug if I see her today. I hope that we meet up today.
"Okay. I think everyone has picked a partner. Your task is to act out anything. For example, Nino could act as Alya and Alya could act as Nino. That is an example. You can use it if you want to. You will get extra marks for creativity, though," Our teacher said. "You can go to your partners. Adrien, since Marinette is not here, you can stay with anyone, as long as you don't copy their idea,"
I nodded and gave her a smile which she returned. Chloé, luckily, left to go to complain to our teacher about her partner.
Nino and I turned to face Alya.
"Nino, what do you want to do?" Alya asked Nino.
"I'm thinking about it," He stroked his chin, comically. "How about we do what Miss suggested?"
"No. It has to be creative," Alya disagreed. "We get extra marks for that, remember?"
"Oh right," Nino nodded.
I paid no attention to what they were saying. I reached out and got my phone from my bag. "Alya, do you mind giving me Marinette's phone number?"
"Sure," Alya said. She got out her phone. She did a few things on it before handing it to me. I looked at her phone number and copied down on my phone before saving her.
"Thanks," I handed her back her phone. She nodded and went back to talking with Nino.
I sent Marinette a text:
I hit send and sat back. My mind wondered about Marinette for sometime. Her absence was noticeable, because there was no laughter or her awkwardness or her warm smiles.
My mind went back to that night that I spent with her at the movies for the rest of the lesson.

My eyes widened in horror as I saw the needle. I gulped and squirmed in my seat. The doctor slowly approached me while my parents held me down.
Why do they make needles so pointy and sharp? It could go right through my skin! Why can't they give me tablets instead of needles? Tablets may be disgusting and really hard to swallow at times, but I would have a tablet over a needle any day.
I closed my eyes and scrunched my face, bracing myself for the impact. He was putting the needle into my left arm, so I had to remove my jacket.
I could feel the needle enter skin and my mother stroking my back, reassuring me that it'll be okay. I opened my eyes and squeaked when I saw the needle in my arm.
Let's just say that I nearly blacked out.
Luckily, the doctor removed the horrific needle from my arm. "There. See? There was nothing to worry about Miss Dupain-Cheng,"
I sighed as he put an elastoplast on my arm. The worst of the worst is over, thank God.
My parents also got their jab and soon we were on our way home.
"I'm sorry that you had to miss school today," My mother told me. "But at least you won't get that nasty disease going around,"
"It's okay," I smiled. I would have liked to have gone to school today, though.
As soon as I reached home, I helped my mother prepare lunch for the three of us. We sat down and ate, before all of us parted ways. I went to my room, my father went to attend to the customers at the bakery and my mother went to bake.
I remember how my phone had vibrated in my pocket and I pulled it out of my bag. Tikki flew out, too. "Your phone vibrated so much. It was like a massage chair to me,"
I giggled at Tikki. "Did you see who they were from?"
"I think some were from Alya," Tikki replied. She flew to my bed and sat on it. I sat beside her as I opened the messages.
Sure enough, there were a ton of messages from Alya, which I replied to immediately. I'm pretty sure she was going to kill me tomorrow.
There was still a message notification on my phone and I frowned. Hadn't I seen all of Alya's messages?
Then I noticed one and I opened it. The second I read it, I nearly fainted, again.
I had already saved Adrien's number on my phone - do not ask me why or how.
I was planning to text him after the movie night but I didn't know how to start the conversation.
We were put as partners apparently and he wants me to meet to his house. I quickly texted him back.
Of course I would love to go to Adrien's house. I've been there before, but as Ladybug, not Marinette.
Speaking of Ladybug, I know wish that I actually went to school. Believe it or not, I actually wanted to see who Chat Noir was.
He's sparked up some curiosity in me and ever since he started asking me about my identity, I've been thinking about who he could be.
Could he be Ivan? He said that he was introverted. The only introverts that I know are Ivan and Max.
I'll ask Chat Noir when I have the chance.
"Tikki, do you think that Chat Noir and I should find out each other's identity?" I asked my kwami. Tikki shrugged.
"I honestly have no idea. It would be good for you to know each other's identity. I just hope that no one else except you two finds out your identities," Tikki replied.
"What would happen if someone else apart from Chat Noir found out our identities?" I asked.
"I would have to leave you and find someone else to be Ladybug," Tikki answered. I frowned and gasped.
"I don't want to lose you, Tikki," I held out my arms. Tikki flew into my arms.
"I don't want to lose you, either," She said.
Our moment was disrupted when we heard screaming. Tikki and I raced to my balcony to see what was going on.
People were running in one direction. My eyes traced where they were running from. What I found peculiar was the people who were running were wearing lab coats and stethoscopes.
Realization hit me - those are doctors! And the person was only after them, not anyone else.
I narrowed my eyes at the obviously akuma-tized person. I know her. I can feel it. I racked my brain until it hit me.
She was the woman who was crying earlier on in the hospital. The one who was been carried out by two nurses.
"Oh dear," Tikki became pale. "Do you remember her from the hospital?"
I nodded. "I need to transform Tikki. Tikki, spots on!"
Tikki flew into my earrings and I slid a finger through my eyes to form my mask. I stretched my arms until my whole body was in my Ladybug jumpsuit. My yo-yo attached itself to its usual position - around my hips.
I swung my yo-yo in the direction of the attacker. More and more doctors, nurses, pharmacists, chemists, or anyone in a lab coat in general, ran in the opposite direction that I was going.
Chat Noir's idea of one liners popped up into my mind and I paused to think of one. However, my mind was blank.
Never mind, I'll think of that later.
"Hey!" I yelled, grabbing the lady's attention. "Why are you attacking the doctors and nurses?"
"My sister had gotten into a really bad accident. I brought her in time and they said that they would do everything they can," The lady looked sad for a moment but it was replaced with hate and anger. "Those liars. Those liars probably let her die. They didn't do anything. I know they didn't. That is why the Reaper is here to take their lives, just like they took my sister's,"
Reaper, huh? Well, the black cloak which covered her entire body, her pale skin and her scythe explained everything. Her necklace was very strange. It was a small hour glass.
"How do you know for sure? Maybe they tried their hardest," I sided with the doctors.
"You're defending them? You're next on my death list!" She swung her scythe and a bolt of light came towards me.
I braced myself for the impact. After a few seconds, nothing hit me. I frowned and looked to see Chat Noir in front of me, swinging his staff.
"You made a grave mistake, Reaper. No one kills my lady," Chat Noir said, with a smirk.
"Nice pun," I chuckled.
"Thanks. I try," He bowed a little.
"You just made yourself number one on my death list, kitty cat," Reaper growled and struck her scythe again. Both Chat Noir and I jumped, avoiding the charged ball she threw.
"Well, for your information, Reaper, cats have nine lives," Chat Noir was leaning on the wall of a house. His eyes were closed and his body seemed very relaxed. It's almost as if he was flirting with her. Almost.
"It would be a great honour to take all nine of them," She grinned wickedly before striking Chat Noir.
My eyes widened and I swung my yo-yo towards Chat Noir. I held onto it until I was right in front of Chat Noir. Just as I was retrieving my yo-yo, the Reaper hit me and I was knocked down.
Chat Noir, finally, decided to open his eyes to see what was happening. "LB?" He was by my side immediately. He knelt down beside me and lifted my head up.
I was too weak. My head fell back on the tarmac. The pain that came with it was very harsh. Black dots began to form on my vision as I struggled to see.
I could feel Chat Noir shaking me violently and desperately. I felt his hand on mine as he cluthced on it, like his life depended on it.
"Ladybug!" I could hear him yell. I wanted to answer, but I saw the Reaper from the corner of my eye. I struggled to lift my head up.
"Look out," I tried to yell.
Chat Noir ducked just in time, as the jolt sent from Reaper's scythe whizzed above his head. She began to laugh maniacally.
"You monster!" Chat Noir growled. He stood up after letting go of my body. "What did you do to her?"
"She's going to die in a minute. That's enough time for you two to say your goodbyes while I take her Miraculous," Her lips formed a sly grin.
"Over my dead body," Chat Noir stomped his foot. It was a sign that he wouldn't back down.
"With pleasure," She licked her lips while stroking her scythe. She threw another jolt to Chat Noir, who skillfully dodged it.

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
