"I feel like a princess," Alya sighed as her hairdresser put the dryer over the head. She turned the knobs to the right settings and then handed Alya and I magazines.
"Agreed," I said, as I flipped open the magazine. I licked my index finger and turned to the fashion section. It's the only thing that I'm interested in reading in a magazine. "It's too bad that we're only doing this for prom,"
"Which you didn't want to go for," Alya reminded me, with a smirk on her face. She then emerged herself into the magazine completely, cutting the conversation short.
I don't reply to her comment.
My eyes roamed the glossy pages and mentally, I criticised the clothes that were showcased.
A blue fitted skirt caught my eye and I eyed it carefully.
Too short.
A floral white shirt under a brown leather jacket. Wait a minute, that's not a shirt. Those are suspenders. A floral white shirt under jean suspenders that end right above the knee, tucked into a brown leather jacket?
Too tacky.
I turned my head to look at a balloon dress made entirely of newspapers. There were no straps and there was a belt that was made out of magazine strips. Part of the dress ended above the knee with a slit cut open at the side, while the other part ended mid-thigh.
The proportion, the clash of colours, the design...
Okay, no.
I can't imagine myself wearing such a dress. I'm pretty sure that Adrien would run for the hills if he saw me in that. No, no, no. Alya wouldn't even let me out of the house looking like that.
She would get kerosene and a lighter and laugh maniacally as the poor dress burns.
Then she would grab me by the ear and throw me into her wardrobe where she will find the best outfit ever.
Unconsciously, I glanced up to from the magazine to look at my best friend. Then a smile crept onto my face. I looked away shaking my head. Dramatic and a little crazy, but you've got to love her anyways.
As I returned to reading my magazine, I thought of Adrien running for the hills. He would look so comical, making it hilarious.
All of a sudden, a feeling of anxiety washed over me. What if he doesn't like the dress I wear? He isn't like most boys. He's a freaking model! He knows the latest trends more than I do. He knows what is it and what isn't.
If only he was the kind of boy who doesn't really care about what you wear. As long as I show up and save a dance for him.
Dance...
In my mind, I picture myself in my long dress and my mask. Adrien looks over at me with his green, playful eyes.
"Would you care for a dance, my lady?" He asked, extending his arm, his eyes twinkling under the strobe light.
His chivalry makes me blush, but I hold it down, for the first time.
"I don't know. That depends," I shrugged, with a sly smile on my face.
His beautiful face contorts into confusion. "What do you mean? Depends on what?"
"It depends on who I'm dancing with," I answered.
He seized both my hands and brings them up to his chin. "Look around, Mari. There is only one guy who wants to dance with you and he is standing right in front of you,"
With that he pressed a kiss on my hands, and pulls me towards him. I realise that I'm going to have to dance with him even against my will.

Coincidentally, the song that started to play was the kind that you slow dance to. My arms found their around Adrien's neck and he held my waist, delicately.
Again, he pulled me closer to him, until my ear was on his chest and I could hear the faint rhythm of his heartbeat.
"Do you hear that?" He bent his head low enough to whisper into my ear.
"Hear what?" I asked.
"My heartbeat," Adrien replied. "Listen to how fast it is. That's how it is whenever I'm around you. Can you tell me why?"
I was at a loss for words. The blush that I was successful in keeping down the first time, came at full power and I couldn't control it.
"I-I don't know," I stuttered.
Adrien used his finger to raise my chin to face him. This is when I noticed how tall he was - he was like a tower. Or it's probably because I'm very short.
"I'll tell you why," He said, in his smooth voice. "It's because I'm attracted to you, Mari. You've made me feel things that I've never really experienced in my life - probably because you were my first crush,"
He gave me a crooked smile and his bangs fell to his face. "I like you, Marinette. More than like, actually. I really, really, really really, really, really like you,"
Then he started to count off his fingers as a frown crossed his beautiful face. "Are those enough really's? I think so,"
"But, I really would like to know, how you feel towards me. Am I just a friend to you? Some random flirt? Who am I to you?" Adrien tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"I'm not very good with expressing my feelings," I admitted, ducking my head.
Adrien brought it back up again. "Try,"
"I really, really, really, really, really, really..." I started to count with my fingers until I was sure. "Yeah, those are the same number of really's that you've used. Like you. I mean, I really, really, really, really, really, really like you, too. I have for a pretty long time actually,"
"Is that so?" Adrien arched an eyebrow. "My charm worked better than I thought. I'm irresistible, admit it,"
"Shut up, or I'll take back what I said," I said, suppressing a smile. It's hard not to smile around this guy.
"Too late. I've recorded this conversation in my head," Adrien poked my nose, playfully. "Well, in that case..."
Adrien took my hand and got on one knee. His hand went to his pocket and began to search for something. Oh my gosh, what's going on?
Then a thought hit me. If it's what I think it is....no! It can't be. But maybe? No, no, no.
"Will you, my lady, do the honours of being my first girlfriend ever?" Adrien asked, with his green eyes twinkling under the light. In his other hand, he held a little black box. Inside it was a necklace.
I couldn't answer. I was too overwhelmed. But Adrien needed an answer. I could see it in his eyes. I had to swallow down my happiness and my surprise.
"Y-Yes! I will!" I cried, with glee.
Adrien's eyes glowed with joy. He kissed my hand and stood up. Removing the necklace from its box, he quickly snapped the box shut and put it in his pocket.
He went round behind me. "Lift your hair,"
I did as he instructed. I felt the cool silver metal against my warm skin. When I was sure that he was done, I let my hair down.

"No, no! Mari! You shouldn't have put your hair down!" Adrien said, in alarm. "I'd have told you when to. The necklace in now tangled in your hair!"
My cheeks have had enough blushing for one night.
"Oh no! I'm so sorry!" I shrieked. "What do I do?"
"Okay, just stay calm. I've got this," He replied. Then he added. "This might hurt a bit,"
Not so long after he said that, I felt a tug. Then a yank. I bit my lip to prevent me from making any sound. Then my head was pulled behind.
A few seconds later, I couldn't take it. "Ow!"
Adrien just retorted with laughter. I frowned. I didn't get what was so funny.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"You are," He replied. "The necklace was never tangled in your hair. I was just messing with you,"
"You ?" I'm pretty sure that I was red again - but now with rage.
"Oh. Probably shouldn't have told you that," Adrien's laughter died down. I started to him rapidly. He shielded his face - typical. "Hey! Stop! You don't want your date to go to the hospital on the night of prom, do you?"
I rolled my eyes. "You're such an idiot,"
"True," He shrugged his shoulder, simply. "But starting from today, officially," He took my hands in his again. "I'm idiot,"
"How do you do that?" I mumbled, feeling my cheeks grow hot again.
"Do what?" He asked.
"Make me blush every single time, even when I'm supposed to be mad at you?" I mused, trying to think of a reason why.
"It's a gift," He wirked at me. "And I believe you owe me a dance, Bugaboo, for beating me nearly half to death,"
"And what makes you think that I'll do that?" I folded my arms.
"Your stubbornness - it's so irresistible, do you know that?" He asked, holding the sides of my head. Our noses brushed each other. "Will this change your mind?"
He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. He dipped my head a little, kissing me very slowly. My hands went on top of his hands, and I began to spread his fingers slowly so that they could intertwine with mine.
Adrien --
"Marinette, what the heck are you doing?" Alya's voice snapped me back to reality.
I looked down to see that my lips were pressed on to the magazine on one of Paris' hottest celebrities. It wasn't Adrien, though. Thank goodness.
Quickly, I threw the magazine to the ground and my legs climbed my seat so that my knees were pressed to my chest.
"Umm...the question is, what are you doing?" I asked, arching an eyebrow. "Isn't your head supposed to be in the dryer, not sticking out?"
"The drier went off," Alya answered, dryly.
I was at a loss for words. Then I swallowed hard. "Sure, Alya, sure. You're just excited to get your hair done that you believe that the dryer went off,"
Alya rolled her eyes, but was surpressing a smile as her hairdresser came to take her elsewhere.
I breathed a sigh of relief. Then I realised, Alya hasn't quite let me off the hook just yet. She's probably going to interrogate me when we are going back home.
Great.

"So what do you think?" I asked, touching my hair a little bit. I wanted to show it off. The hairdresser did a fantastic job, yesterday.
"Of what?" Adrien asked, a little bluntly.
"Of our hair, you idiot," Alya replied, shaking her hair gently so that her hair could swish left and right. "This is a sneak peak for how we are going to look tonight,"
"Oh, well, it's nice?" Adrien answered meekly, simply shrugging his shoulders.
"Nice?" Alya and I scoffed, simultaneously. Our eyes radiated both confusion and anger. More to anger, actually.
"Step aside, Goldie, and let me show you how to act in situations like this," Nino pushed Adrien behind him.
He went round behind us and flicked one of Alya's curls. For me, he stretched a strand of my hair. "Mmhmm," He would say occasionally.
"You guys look fantabulous!" Nino gushed. "I absolutely love what you've done to your hair,"
"Nino, we know what you're trying to do," Alya folded her arms.
"And it's not going to work," I arched an eyebrow.
"Really? Because I think curls suit you, Alya. You have thick and luscious hair - something that most people don't have. And the fact that it's an exotic colour like auburn?" He raised his arms in surrender. "Whoa...respect, dude. Look at how soft the waves are. It must have taken a million rollers and a lot of heat to have very curly and soft hair,"
"Well, my head did feel like it was in an oven," Alya admitted with a small smile as she admired a strand of her hair.
"I can't wait for tonight, love," Nino tucked a strand of her hair, behind her ear. "I'll literally stare at the clock for the whole day, counting down to prom,"
"Love?" Adrien scoffed. "When the heck did you finally two tie the knot?"
"And don't think that I've forgotten about you, my little blueberry," Nino playfully pushed my shoulder, ignoring Adrien. "For someone who wears an unnatural colour, you totally work it, girl," He snapped his fingers in the form of a 'Z'.
"I never knew how long it was until today," He took a strand of my hair and ran it between his fingers. "Totally beats the pig tails style. A mix of classy but sassy - amazing!"
"You really think so?" I asked, looking over at my hair with a small, shy smile.
"Totally. If Adrien doesn't treat you right tonight Marinette, he'll come to school in crutches," Nino finally acknowledged his best friend with a glare.
"Gee, thanks pal," Adrien rolled his eyes and mumbled.
"Always glad to help, bro," Nino beamed at him.
"I have to admit," Alya started. "You've made me more excited for prom more than I was, Nino,"
"I'm envious of your relationship, Alya," I joked, and she just laughed. "Nino, how did you do that?"
"Oh, you mean prove you two wrong?" Nino asked, with a cocky grin. "Time to do my victory dance!"
"Nino!" I asked, trying to suppress a smile. Nino could be quite comical.
"I used to babysit my cousins a lot. There are more girls than boys, so I picked up a few things here and there," Nino replied, with a shrug.
"Aww," Alya and I cooed at how responsible Nino was.
"Okay, okay. Enough already," Adrien looked like he was going to kill Nino. "I hate how bad you make me look right now,"
"For a model, I'm suprised that you didn't know how to reply to hair-related conversations," Nino rolled his eyes. "But in any case, I'm happy to help a blonde in distress,"
"I guess he's your knight in shining armour," I snorted.
Alya, Nino and I laughed very hard at what I said. Adrien just slugged Nino in the arm. But he couldn't hit me, because of the gentleman code that he told me he follows.
So I could say all I want and he wouldn't hit me.
But Adrien eventually gave in, and chuckled. "I guess this shows you how our bromance is real,"
"Yup," Nino put an arm around Adrien's shoulder. "Nothing can break our bromance. Not even you two,"
Alya and I rolled our eyes.
"Why is there a bromance and not a sistermance or something?" Alya turned to face me.
"You know, that's a very good question," I frowned. "I actually don't know,"
"Because sistermance sounds ridiculous," Adrien replied, throwing his arm around Nino's shoulder, too.
"So ridiculous," Nino repeated in agreement. "Plus, it doesn't have a ring to it like bromance does,"
"And when we guys love each other, it's actually legit," Adrien shrugged. "You girls only say that to each other for about 5 minutes, before you go hating on each other because of some petty reason,"
"True that," Nino nodded his head.
"Who asked for your opinion?" Alya snarled, folding her arms.
"Yeah. Alya asked me," I retorted. "Alya and I may not have 'bromance' or whatever, but we're each other's baes,"
"What the heck is wrong with society today?" Adrien threw up his arms in the air, letting go of Nino. "Baes? Bae? Bae isn't a word! It auto corrects to bar on my phone!"
"It does?" Nino asked, and pulled out his phone. "Let me try it on my phone," Then he fumbled with it for a couple of seconds before he gasped in shock. "It actually does!"
"Oh em gee! Dylan O'Brien is bae! Justin Bieber is bae! Zayn Malik is bae!" Adrien mimicked in a high pitched, girly voice.
"You can have more than one bae?" Nino's eyebrows creased. "That's disgusting!"
"I swear," Adrien said.
"You can! Just like the way if you two became a comedy trio and added someone to hang out with you, you'd have a bromance with three people," Alya said and I nodded my head.
"And seriously guys, Dylan O'Brien is bae, so don't ever joke up that again," I added.
"Or else you'll have to suffer the pain that bodyguards go through when they try to keep crazed fans away from celebrities," Alya cracked her muscles.
"Geez, girls," Nino raised his hands in surrender. "So aggressive and possessive,"
"Not to mention obsessive," Adrien sat down on his seat and faced forward. Nino proceeded to do the same.
Alya and I gave each other and we nodded. Then we hit the their heads, right before our teacher walked in.
______________________________________________
"Tell me why I agreed to let you do this, again?" Adrien asked, turning his head to face me.
"Because you're a stupid lovestruck idiot who would do anything to win a girl's heart," Plagg replied, dryly.
"Stay out of this Plagg," Tikki raised an eyebrow.
"You read my mind, Tikki," Adrien shot her a smile. "Up top!" He put out his hand for a high five. He was moving too much.
"Hey! No moving or you'll get burnt, and I don't want to be the one responsible for that," I opened and closed the handles of the flat iron a couple of times before resuming to flatten out Adrien's hair.
"Aww, you care about me," Adrien teased, staying still for once.
"Shut up," I mumbled, trying not to let that comment get to me.
It was after school and I was at Adrien's. To make up for not complimenting on how I look, I told him that I'd do his hair for prom.
It took a lot of persuading - not only for him to allow, but for Alya to let me do it. She wanted us to prepare early so that we could get there when prom was already full in swing.
