"Hey Alix I got your message, whats going on?" Adrien asked as he ran to the school to meet her.

"You won't believe me if I told you!" Alix replied but then Chloe was nearby talking to Sabrina.

"Ugh I can't believe she's back!"

"What?" Adrien asked in confusion.

"Hey Adrien guess who's back!" Nino came from behind not allowing for Alix to speak.

"Who?" Adrien expressed eagerly.

"Marinette of course!" Nino says as he left off to where a crowd was forming.

Adrien froze as he heard her name, he couldn't breath, "What? Thats not possible."

"Its her," Alix confirmed, "But she's changed."

"Let's check this out then," Adrien says as we went to the crowd where they circled Marinette.

Marinette was in all black leather jumpsuit with a matching leather jacket. She was telling her tale of her internship in China. Adrien was starstruck at her new confidence, new person. Everything about this Marinette was familiar but he knew that he couldn't trust her.Soon the bell rang and everyone had dispersed except for Adrien and Alix. Marinette had told Alya she'll catch up and she had forgotten something in her locker. However, she stayed in her spot to let Adrien and Alix stare at her. She allowed them to bask in it for a while before speaking.

"Hey guys," she said with a smile, shocking them all with her tone.

"Marinette," Adrien growled as he approached her.

"Aww Adrien," Marinette acted sweetly, "Do you not recognize me again? Your so oblivious." She chuckles evily.

"You can't be here," Adrien says hoping it was all a illusion.

She walked towards him, her voice now suggesting lust instead of mystery, hand on her hip and a glint in her eye, "But it is."

Adrien, taken aback, stared at her up and down, confused. It seemed as though she was going to play with him before taking his miraculous.

"Who and what are you?" Alix asked.

"I'm not a copy cat if that what your asking," Marinette explained, "I'm Misfortune with a Ladybug touch. I'm only trying to stop... I'm not going to hurt anyone," She said, putting her hand on his cheek and staring into his lying eyes. Her hands felt odd to Adrien, soft, yet rough at the same time. He didn't trust what he saw.

"Then give me the akuma," Adrien says as he didn't see any reason to agree for her to use it.

"But there's just one thing, I can't do it without it..."

"We can do whatever it is together," Adrien noticed her bright blue eyes turned purple, almost the same as when she attacked him and Alix in the cave.

"No, I need you to stay away Adrien," She whispered mysteriously, bringing her hands to her chest to indicate herself, and looking at him innocently, yet with an air of someone trying to play off the situation as small or easy.

Adrien instantly recovered, "Mari, please," but as he spoke, Marinette's smile diminished, "Right, hmm...Now see, that's a problem for me because I have a duty! To stop anyone whose been akumatized."

Marinette face sadden as she stepped away, "Alix? How about you?"

"Yeah I can't trust anyone who used my umbrella without asking," Alix stated with crossed arms.

"So you both want to be against me?" Marinette sighed, "Fine."

Adrien didn't want to anger her as he still had questions, "What's going to happen?" Adrien ask Marinette.

Marinette chuckled, "I saw the future. Adrien, please understand what I'm doing is for you."

"Why do you say that? Please tell me," Adrien begged.

"I can't," she smiled, "I saw everything and this is the only way I can change it. I have to stop it from happening... again." Marinette reply back.

"Marinette, if what you're saying is true." Adrien began. "It means I should be by your side-"

Marinette interrupted him. "It means that the destiny belongs to me. You must give me your miraculous," She stared hard at him, her eyes brighten in purple.

She wasn't herself after what he witnessed and felt hurt of it. Alix and Adrien knew all they can do is stay out of way and not get hurt.

"Mari, we are friends." Adrien said as he was walking to her. "But, I can't do that."

Marinette let out a bitter chuckle. "Of course you would say that!" He points a finger at Adrien, who look saddened of this. "Always just friends! Trying to be a hero."

Alix's eyes widen of this, "Marinette! You can't blame Adrien for what has happened to you!" She yelled.

"Shut up!" Marinette yelled at Alix, who flinched. "I had it with all of this!"

"Marinette!" Adrien tried to approach her.

"Stay back!" Marinette shouted string appearing from her back, Adrien back away. He backed up a little, then he pulled an angry look on his face.

He marched up. "Marinette, you've got to give me the akuma. It is too dangerous." He ordered Marinette as she glared at him, "this isn't right-" but he was interrupted by Marinette again.

"I said Stay Back!" Marinette shouted loud. And causes the string to pop out from her back and push Adrien away.

Luckily, Adrien was able to jumped back and landed on the floor. Alix kneel down to his aid. He held her as she stared at him with a pained look. Alix is really mad about this, she can't believe her dear friend would do this to him. "Marinette!" She yelled. Alix looked at Marinette, and what she saw surprised her. Marinette look shocked by what she has done and by how she did it.

"This has to stop now. Whatever it is that you're going through, we'll fix it together," Alix stated.

"No," Marinette says as she called back the strings, "This was my way of calling a truce. I didn't mean to escape by force but the guardians were keeping me away from protecting the city."

Adrien then started to stand up, "Marinette this is not the way."

"This is the only solution," Marinette says.

"No we always done this together. Me and you. Just like we've always done, Chat Noir and Ladybug," Adrien persuaded, "Just give me the akuma."

"No! This has to stop now. This thing where you think that you've been my friend and you don't even hear how you condescend," Marinette shouted.

"Marinette, listen," Adrien tried again.

Marinette sighed as she hope he'll understand, "I'm listening."

"I swear it's not too late. So before another line gets crossed and everything we've had is lost," Adrien says, "Stop this."

"I've done the best I could but, I've always known just where we stood," she sighs, "Just as friends and partners. I'm doing this to save the city. No one will get hurt if you don't get in my way. Both of you."

"Well do it then," Alix says.

"But without my miraculous," Adrien completed Alix statement.

"Fine, have it your way," Marinette says as she left her class, "I hope one day you'll understand me."

"What do we do now?" Alix asked as they headed to their class

"We watch her," Adrien says as he didn't know what else to do.

"Aww look Adrien when you were younger you were so hopeful, " Lila laughed as she showed him through the portal, "Oh how things changed when you gave up on her."

"I never gave up," Adrien corrected.

"Yes, you did. How about I give you a reminder," Lila then showed another image of him and Misfortune in front of the pod where his mother had been kept years later. At the end they gave up both their miraculous to grant the wish to save Emilie, however Ladybug gave up her humanity for it no longer Marinette existed within.

"We're finally free," Misfortune says, "It's just you and me now. The world is ours."

"Remember you joined her," Lila reminded him.

"It was a mistake," Adrien growled.

"Yeah, you joined her to leave her. Just because you wanted to fight me," Lila said as she pointed toward the portal.

"No it isn't," Chat Blanc replies, "This isn't finished."

"What?"

"I'm still seeing red," Chat Blanc remove the bell where the akuma was kept.

"She lived a good life and she gave it to you," Misfortune stated in arguement.

"Oh is that right?" Chat Blanc states angriliy, "You know it's not true.Now look in my eyes. Alix is dead on her record for the world to hear.But Misfortune I know it was you inside."

"Adrien I saved her, I held her 'til the moment she died," Misfortune argues.

"You choked her out of her own god damn mind," Chat Blanc yells, "You promised the world to her, a god damn lie."

"What do you want from me? I brought back your mother," Misfortune barks back.

"Oh look outside yourself," He says as he shattered the bell to transform himself back to Chat Noir, "Alix was our friend!"

"I won't help you take her down," Misfortune says as she saw no point.

"Fine," Chat Noir growls, "I'll do it by myself."

"You don't need it," Misfortune argues.

"Oh I know that I need it," Chat Noir growls.

"Alix has been gone for years," Misfortune argues, "I know you can beat it."

"No, look in the mirror," Chat noir pointed at her reflection from the glass, "Your a monster for what happened.With our spirits defeated we fell. You let me kill her, you're worse than my father."

"I told you sacrifices will be made," Misfortune says unfazed by Chat Noir's words "It was all for the best."

"So I have you to blame," Chat Noir growls,"For this pain in my chest."

"NO!"

"I will avenge the lost soul I killed," Chat Noir growls.

"You're filling your heart up with hate. All the same," Misfortune states.

"Now that I know that everything happened because of that akuma," Chat Noir pointed.

"A pity the city has ruined us.We could've fooled Hollywood, just the two of us." Misfortune pursuaded as she wanted him to join her.

"Lila has made a fool of us," Chat Noir argues as pointed how Lila set everything up.

Misfortune chuckled, "She did because she was able to tell us what we want to hear. She helped me realize my fate."

"You're lost," Chat Noir says with fear as he realized that Misfortune wants to join her, "Is this what love is really for? Is this all I get for being yours? Your not the hero I fell in love with," Chat noir demanded.

"You and I caused destruction and misfortune. Why are you so surprised?"

"Alix is dead. The city is in ruins. Years put to waste for you not wanting to come back to the light," Chat Noir yells.

"I guess that how it worked out," Misfortune states as she approached the pod.

"What are you saying?" Chat Noir asked as he hoped that after everything he hoped Misfortune would give up the cherade to fix everything.

"If I can't have the power and respect, then I would rather be the leader of the dark and the bad," Misfortune announced.

"So stay," Chat Noir announced, "I'm out. But if I leave and you don't follow we will be enemies."

"Then be it," Misfortune barked.

"Then as I recall, you two became enemies, and then she joined me," Lila retold her story.

"You manipulated her to become this!" Adrien growls.

"I know. Guilty as charge, but I'm the bad guy," Lila states, "Thats what I do."

"Umm," Time Tagger came in exhausted into the room.

"What now Chris!" Lila asked annoyed that he interrupted his taunting.

"We might have an issues with getting the egg." He stated.

"Do I have to do everything around here," Lila growls, "I'll be back Adrien."

Adrien sighed as he looked at the portal, "I'm sorry Mari," he say as he put his head down and let a single tear fall down his cheek.

"Still see the good in me?" A voice interuppted his thoughts. He looks up to see Misfortune present in the room.

"Why don't you let the people see the good in you?" Adrien asked.

Misfortune froze unexpected by his answer, "Because when people see good, they expect you to be good. And I don't want to live up to anyone expectations."

"So why are you here?" Adrien asked, "To taunt me as well."

"Why did you fight for a loss cause?" Misfortune asked, "Your father used you for his gain? Everyone who surrounded you wanted to use you for your fame? I never understood your motives for anything you've done Adrien. So I want to know why you keep fighting?"

Adrien was silent as he gripped his hands as he was hung by the chains. He nodded his head still not understanding why he does fight after all these years."Fine, no answer," Misfortune says as she started to leave, "Your problems are probably a waste of time."

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!" He yelled which stunned her to stop in her steps.

"Then stop loving me!" she quickly replied as her heart started to race.

"I CAN'T!"

"Well, thats the problem. We don't work!"

"I know," Adrien sighed as he realized he didn't get any reaction.

"Then we agree," Misfortune states, "We'll keep fighting each other."

"No, if it takes fighting you Ladybug to save my life just kill me," Adrien states.

Misfortune started to tremble from his statement and after so many years calling her by her hero's name. She didn't have any response as she left him in his chains.
