《One Last Fight》I Am The Sloppy Seconds Sweetheart

Over the glass in my hand, I was shooting John death glares. All he had to do was pay attention. If looks could kill, he would be dead the second he looked at me. He kept bouncing his fucking leg underneath the table. Bo told him earlier than everyone else about the baby. She shouldn't have because he is going to ruin the fucking surprise.
Bo loved John, though. He would always have a special place in her heart. If he kept grinning and chuckling in his seat, the only place he would be is her heart because I am going to jump across the table and snatch the life out of him.
My foot collided with his leg when everyone started to notice his fits of laughter. Then Bo's foot collided with me. I looked over at her as she stared with a glare through her narrowed eyes. I shrugged at her, trying to make her understand my issue with her best fucking friend. She is the head of this household, so no such luck with that.
Tonight we had more than a pregnancy to announce. Bo was going to ask Trevor to be her man of honor. Well, I think it is a man of honor. He definitely isn't her maid of honor. So, we have to go somewhere with it. I am pretty sure the little gift she got him asks, will you be my maid of honor?
I wasn't happy about it, but I had no reason to hate him. I was upset because Bo lost out on all of her friends. Not saying Trevor is her last resort, but Trevor is her last resort. Her past friends were shit anyway. So, thank god for mine.
She would have asked Miles or John, but I was trying to decide which one I wanted to be my best man. She has been making fun of me all day for not being able to choose. Considering my deadline is tonight, I need to figure it out soon. Happy fucking birthday to me.
I wasn't sure who I wanted by my side, though. John was at the top of the list earlier, but at the moment, I am not sure. He continued to flip me off over the top of his beer. I brought my fist up, dabbing it under my eye to show him I am going to black his. The little fucker snickered when Bo scolded me for it.

"Whipped!" John hooted.
"Funny."
Marcy spoke up from her side of the table. "It is nice to once again see everyone together. Happy birthday, darling."
I nodded, giving her a forced smile. "Thank you."
"I am a little confused as to why Bo isn't drinking the strawberry wine I brought over," she brought her glass to her lips.
The curly-haired girl next to me sucked in a deep breath. "Oh, yeah, just not feeling it tonight."
Marcy hummed as she looked at me. She knew. She always knew. Bo caught onto that because she placed the napkin from her nap onto the table, and stood up. She grabbed my hand, encouraging me to stand with her before our guests.
"Kinnick and I have a few announcements to make."
"Yes!" John clapped. "Let's hear it."
Bo smiled at him. Her dimples were prominent as she stared at him with love in her eyes. Then she directed that smile at me, and everything changed. It was more than love. It was like she was looking at me like she was looking at the novels on her shelf. She saw something in me, no one else could see. Not even me. She saw a story no one has read, and with just one glance at the cover, she knew every word without even glancing on the inside.
I was a book to her. Not the kind those fuckers in New York got ahold of. No, I was the book no one knew about. I was her little treasure. A first edition classic. Even if I didn't feel expensive, she treated me as such. Her hands were gentle with the binding and careful with the pages. Bo predicted the plot from the synopsis on the back.
I was labeled the dickhead. A criminal in our old town. She read those words on my back, seeing every scar on my novel's spine, and she read in between the lines. There was a story there worth telling, and I didn't know it yet. I didn't know until she made me read it aloud. We haven't reached the end, though because the story is still being written. I'd say we are at the best part. I am not sure I am ready for the end.

The way she looked at me made me feel younger as if time restarted. She felt like a second chance. All my sins and all of my mistakes were forgiven. She was holy. Blessing me with every ounce of beauty and grace. Lucky fucking me for being able to have it all.
"We're having a baby," I blurted as her hand touched mine.
"No shit?" Miles's mouth fell open. "This isn't a joke?"
Bo grabbed the picture from her pocket, showing it off to the group before us. Miles's eyes wouldn't leave me as he stared in shock. No one could see me as a dad. I was the type who never wanted to settle down. They saw me as nothing more than a man who slept around and cared for no one.
Before Bo, I wanted nobody. I wanted nothing. None of those things were true. I wanted a family, but I only wanted one if that meant I was going to find a wife who wouldn't leave my children. I wanted a wife if only that meant she loved me as much as I loved her. I know without a shadow of a doubt, I have found both.
Marcy stood from her seat to wrap Bo up into a hug. Rosie kept squealing. John was acting as if this was his first time he heard it. Trevor was patting my back, and Miles was hesitating to get out of his seat.
"Congratulations, you two," Marcy placed a kiss on both sides of our heads. "Much love and happiness for both of you."
Trevor pulled Bo into his chest. He whispered something that made her pull back to look at him with a smile. She pulled the little gift from her seat where she once sat. He stared at her with an ever-growing smile as if he didn't believe what was happening.
"One last announcement," she looked at everyone. "We are getting married sooner than what we planned. No longer October, but August."
"Even though I told her she would look beautiful," I teased her. "She insists on not having a massive bump during photos."
"Well, who is taking your photos?" Miles asked.
Bo looked over at him. "Do you want to do them?"
"Shit, I would be honored."
"You wouldn't be pissed if I didn't choose you as my best man?" I asked.
"I'd rather be your photographer," he grinned. "So, I can bounce back and forth when I get sick of you. I can go see Bo."
I flipped him off. "That means John is my best man."
"Would you look at that?" John looked at Riley. "I'm the sloppy seconds, sweetheart."
Bo let out a belt of laughter. "We love you tons, John."
"I love you, Bo," he smiled at her. "Kinnick? Not so much."
"Wait!" Rosie cheered. "This means we have to start planning soon!"
"Sure do," Bo nodded.
"Do I have to be a part of this?" Trevor asked.
Bo shoved his shoulder."Of course, you do, maid of honor."
"Do we have a theme?" Marcy questioned.
"Something Halloween," Bo tensed with excitement. "Not sure about anything else."
"What about til death do us part?" Miles suggested.
"If that were the case," John grumbled. "You are staring at the man who will invent a serum that will make us live forever. He couldn't live without Bo. Not even in the afterlife."
