《One Last Fight》Everything I Ever Wanted Is Right Here

While everybody sat on the couch laughing, I saw the way Kinnick cared solely for the baby in his arms. I loved the way he acted with her. Nothing was more important than the bundle of joy he was holding. Nothing made me happier than the way he cared for Collins. I knew he would love our kids as much as he loved me.
My eyes searched for Chase until I found him sitting at the dining room table talking to Aurora. He was gentle with her. It was as if she was the most delicate flower in his field of greenery. It wasn't like she was the wildflower in a field of roses. She was the bleeding hearts, telling him to pick one from her stem because she was trying to repair the demons he didn't tell us about.
In my heart, I hoped what was brewing between them would work out. All I wanted for them was to find the one they loved now because I wouldn't know how to look at Chase's broken heart, wondering why I am not doing enough to fix it. All I wanted for him was to be happy.
While we were shopping for presents, he asked if I could help him buy the sweet girl a gift. In the end, I never got to see it. Honestly, I was curious to see what I paid for. I was more curious to see the pendant that my son was excitedly wrapping.
From where I stood, I could see him handing her the small box. My heart raced with happiness. The happiness I was trying so hard to hold back. Chase looked up at me. It was as if he knew I was watching because he looked at me to save him. I raised my thumb, telling him everything was going to be okay as she opened the present.
She grabbed the silver necklace, gasping at it as she pulled it out. I bite my lip as she threw her arms around him, thanking him over a million times. He smiled at me, giving me a thumbs-up. I sent him a wink before turning back to the adults in the living room.
"Bo, these are kickass cookies," Trevor bumped my hip.
"Thank you," I chuckled. "Chase helped me."
"That is probably why they turned out so good," Kinnick teased from the couch.

"Probably," I shrugged. "What can I say? He learned from the best."
Trevor snickers beside me as he bit into his cookie. Kinnick smiled at me as I watched over him and the baby. He blew me a kiss from where he sat on the couch. I returned the favor by blowing him one of my own. His hand reached up, catching it before he acted as if he broke it in half to share with Collins.
My head moved back and forth as I hid my smile with the cup I was pressing to my lips. Late last night, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. A girl I didn't know I was having. Now, I am sitting amongst family, wondering how life could get any better.
"Bo!" Rosie called as she stood up from the couch. "You have to open this for Collins. Her auntie got her the cutest outfits."
"You got her the cutest outfits?" Marcy cocked a brow.
Rosie shrugged. "We both know I have the best taste."
"That you learned from me."
John snickered beside his dad. "I don't think any of you know how to dress."
Both of them looked at him with attitude, but Kinnick spoke up first. "Uh - whose wedding was eighteenth-century themed?"
"You have to get over that," John rolled his eyes.
"Riley, be honest, did you think John looked good?" Kinnick asked.
"I think John always looks good."
"Now I know you are lying," he joked.
Riley chuckled. "I love him."
John pressed a kiss to the side of his head. "I love you too."
When my front door opened, I saw Miles. He came through with present bags in his hands. I walked toward him, grabbing a few from his hold. He leaned down to press a kiss on my cheek. I wrapped my arms around him.
"You are late best friend."
"We both know the party doesn't start until I am here," he sniffles. "I hope you don't mind, but I brought somebody."
"What?"
He stepped aside, allowing a girl to trail in behind him. "This is Marti."
A young-woman. Well, a familiar young woman stepped in front of me. Her curls were similar to mine. They went on for miles, falling to the band of her jeans. Her chocolate brown eyes widened as she realized it was me. She wrapped her arms around me as I pulled her into an embrace.

"My doctor," I chuckled. "Oh my goodness. We kind of know one another already."
"Well, I did deliver your child," she joked.
"You are the best."
Her shoulders tipped. "So, I have been told."
"If you don't mind me asking," we walked next to one another. "How did a man like that pull a girl like you?"
She let out a small breath of laughter. "He is just the sweetest man I have ever met. Plus, he has the most gorgeous eyes."
"Right?" I threw my hands up. "I wondered why I couldn't be blessed with them."
She nodded with amusement. "Girl, I was thinking the same thing."
"Well," I directed her toward the living room. "Welcome to the family."
She smiled up at everyone. Her height seemed to match mine. We were fairly small women. Miles snatched a few cookies off of the counter, handing her one. I walked toward the kitchen to throw away my cup when I realized Chase was no longer at the table.
My eyebrows scrunched in confusion. Kinnick looked at me with questioning as I came into the living room, hoping to find them. Yet, I didn't see them. I waved him off, but if he senses something is wrong, he won't let it go. I loved him for that.
"Are you okay?" He asked as he patted Collins's back.
"Have you seen Chase?"
"No. I haven't seen him since he -"
"Since he what?"
"Went upstairs."
"You don't think they are," I cringed.
He chuckled. "Take Collins and I will go check."
"What if they are?" I lay her across my chest. "How am I supposed to give him the talk when all we do is have sex?"
His brows raised in amusement. "Is that all we do? Because I would be more than happy to do that tonight."
I shoved his shoulder. "Please, go check, dork."
When I turned to walk back toward the kitchen, I caught a glimpse of the light on the back patio. I stepped closer to look out of the blinds when I saw Chase chasing Aurora around in the snow. Despite the red of their noses, I watched him pelt her with a snowball. A smile grew on my face as he wrapped her in his arms. He pressed kisses to her face.
"Bo!" Kinnick
"Sh," I told him quietly as he came to stand next to me. "Look."
We watched them dance around the snow, tossing the frozen white glitter into the air, letting it brush over their faces as it falls. The largest smile crossed Chase's features as Aurora tossed a weak snowball in his direction. He bent over, laughing and teasing the girl who shied away in embarrassment.
I leaned my head on Kinnick's shoulder. The sound of our family talking in the living room filled my ears, but my eyes wanted to watch my son love the life he was living. My tattooed lover grumbled with quiet laughter as we watched them.
Tears welled in my eyes as Chase gathered Aurora's hands, bringing them to his mouth, cupped in between his fingers as he blew hot heat over hers. She stared down at him as he focused on getting her warm.
"He is in love," Kinnick murmurs beside me.
Aurora leaned forward kissing his hands. I smiled as Chase looked up with the corner of his lips tugging upward. His hands dropped hers to pull her body into his chest. I watched as his head rested on the top of her head. She squeezed tightly, holding onto his jacket with closed fists.
"I think they both are."
"She is wearing the necklace he got her."
"Did you get to see it?"
He nodded. "It is his name."
"What?" I looked up at the man.
He shrugged. "He wanted her to know he was always there with her, even when he physically isn't. Kind of like you did for me."
The locket I got for him still dangled from his neck. "I love you."
His lips came down to meet mine. "I love you most."
"Merry Christmas Eve."
He hummed. "This one is for the books. What more could I ask for? Everything I ever wanted is right here."
