《College Students》❥ Chapter 49.

i'm really enjoying writing these chapter! i think they're really positive and i hope you're benefiting from them (:
❥
I've heard that when you wake up you should smile for five minutes to strength your mouth muscles. "What on earth are you doing?" Issac laughs from the position next to me.
"I'm smiling" I try to say without moving my lips. "Yeah, and you look like you're about to kill someone" I wave him off. Waking up with a smile makes me feel more positive but after five minutes, it starts to hurt.
"What are our plans for today?" Issac gets up to look at the view. "I'm going to try bond with Adelaide" I try my best confident nod. He spins around, "Really?" He replies, eyebrows raised.
"Yes. It made my dad so happy yesterday when I coloured with her at the restaurant" I frown. I need to do this, if I do this I might be in with a chance to fully re-kindle with my dad.
That's not the reason I'm doing it. I realised yesterday that me and my dad haven't properly connected because I'm distant from Adelaide, he loves her and anyone could see that. I think him seeing me retract from anything to do with her was hard for him, so me bonding with my little sister will help.
I just need to get over the fact that I'm not daddy little girl anymore and get on with it. I have a little sister.
"I'll figure out something to do, maybe I'll hang out with your brothers" Issac calls from the balcony. I rise from the bed and gather some clothes together for the day.
"I think they're going drinking for most of the day" I shrug. He walks back inside, joining me in picking out clothes. "Doesn't sound that bad of a plan" He smirks.
"Just be careful, please" I frown, lying out my clothes on the bed. "I was thinking we could go out one of the nights" He strips off to get changed.
"I was thinking last night when you were chatting to Ellie. We never went on that date" He shakes his head. "What date?" I frown my eyebrows.
"We were at my parents barbeque and you were forcing me to take Ellie out, so in return I asked you for a date" He smirks again, bigger this time. He stretches his shirt over his head.
I laugh thinking back to the memory, it feels like ages ago. "Yeah" I nod, "That would be nice"
When we're ready we take our separate ways from the reception. I go towards the open lounge area, and he leaves to find Ezra and Joseph. I smile when I see my dad's eyes shine but at me, that green fleck in the right side. "Good morning princess" His voice is low and smooth.
I sit down on the sofa opposite my dad. I see Cindy by the brochures. "What did you go to Palma for yesterday?" He smiles. The sun leaks in from the glass wall length window. "I went to draw" I nod.
"I used to be artistic when I was young" His expression looks like he's in thought. "I know, mom told me" Adelaide dresses her dolls.
"Bruce, honey. Look at this" She hands dad a blue leaflet. Adelaide rushes over immediately, climbing on dad to see what it is. "What is it?" Her eyes are wide with excitement.
"It's a sunset hot air balloon ride" Dad flicks through the leaflet. "It looks beautiful" Cindy sits on the arm of the sofa, peering over dad to read.

"No kids allowed" He frowns. I see Adelaide's and Cindy's face both drop. "I'm not a kid. I'm a big girl" She screws her face up. I watch as she drops down from dad and sit's with her arm's folded.
"I can look after Adelaide" I suggested shyly. They both look up at me, "Are you sure?" Dad blinks, not believing what just came from my mouth.
"Yes. You guys should go have fun, you're on holiday. Plus it would be a great chance to bond with Adelaide" I smile, hoping to reassure them.
They eventually agree, I think they're just worried because I haven't had much experience looking after kids. Also because I didn't have the best start with Adelaide.
The day goes by, we spend the day together. I learn that Cindy owns a little book store in town. One that I've been in many of times. It was her grandfathers, a business that's been in the family a long time.
"What would you like to be?" She smiles at me, bright and toothy. "An artist" I join Adelaide with colouring, trying to encourage her to draw in the lines.
"What inspired that?" She seems really interested. "I've always loved art, I think I might get from dad. I've been told he used to be quite creative when he was younger. But I also think art is just, beautiful. Everyone loves art in certain ways, everyone can appreciate it" I smile. We're sitting at the bar, looking out at the beach.
The life guard that's serving on the bar I notice is staring me, I keep catching his eye and it's making me uncomfortable. "I have to agree, I'm very fond of art" She follows my gaze to dark haired man, "I love to go to museums but your father never takes me" She rolls her eyes.
Why wouldn't dad want to go? I thought he was arty himself. "I have a job interview at the art museum! You could visit whilst I'm working" I beam remembering my interview. "Oh really?" Her eyes light up.
"I finally have an excuse to go, you can give me a tour" She matches my smile. "My three favourite ladies" Dad approaches, resting his hands on the back of our chairs. "I was just telling Darcy how you never take me to the art museums" Cindy pulls a face at him.
I can't make out the expression that crosses his face but he covers it quickly, "What can I say, eh? I'm a busy man" He winks, but I don't buy it. "Hm, okay" Cindy rolls her eyes again.
"Are you ready to go? I thought we could have a nice stroll there" Dad checks his watch, so do I. I hadn't noticed how fast the day went.
"Yeah, let's go" She gets down from her raised chair, "Are you sure you'll be okay to look after Adelaide?" Her eyes hold worry. "Yes, we'll be fine" I smile, "Is she allergic to anything?"
"Not that we know of" Dad chuckles. Me and Adelaide walk them to the door and wave them off.
"I've to make a quick phone call before tea, is that okay?" I crouch down slightly. She nods and runs back to our previous seat, going back to colouring.
I get out my phone and make a call, "You have the worst timing" Ellie snaps down the phone, a smile slips onto my face. "What are you doing?"
"My urine sample, I have to see my midwife tomorrow but I can't seem to get it in the tube" She grunts, irrupted. "Do it tomorrow, fresher urine?" I laugh down the phone.

I hear noises in the background, "You're right. I can't be bothered" She grumbles. "How you feeling?" I brace myself for the sarcastic reply I get every time, "Tired. Darcy, I'm so tired" Her voice trembles.
"I feel asleep earlier accidently and I'm still exhausted" I can hear her squeaky bed in the background, "How's your dad?" I ask carefully, I've been avoiding this question.
"I'm not sure. I think half of him is angry that I've been so careless and irresponsible and the other half, kinda happy? He's always so down and glum working these two jobs, I think a little baby might cheer him up" Her voice is unsure. "That's understandable. Does your family know?" I watch Adelaide hold her finished picture up to show me, I smile.
"I told everyone Christmas day, I got it out the way" I hear her heavy exhale. "How did that go" I pull a face imagining the occasion. "Mixed reviews. I told them, I know I should of been more careful but what happened has happened and I'm not getting rid of it. Mom had an abortion when she was young and regretted it and I won't be the same" I can hear the sadness in her voice at the mention of her mother. "It's going to be hard but I will look after this baby and provide for it" She says confidently.
"Hopefully Nathan will help" I frown, she hasn't mentioned him In a while. "As far as I'm concerned my baby doesn't have a father, if he can't be bothered to step up to the mark, he doesn't deserve to a father. I want the best for my baby" She sighs. I feel so sorry for her, this must be scary.
"Well everyone else is going to support you" I move on more positivity. "I know, without you Darc I don't know what I'd do" A sad smile passes my face, "I'm always here if you need me, don't forget it"
Our conversation carries on for a while, she asks about my holiday and what I've been up to so far. "Darcy?" I hear Adelaide's little voice take my attention, "Yes?" I look down worried. "I'm hungry" She frowns, "Okay, we'll go now" I finish on the phone to Ellie and tell her I'll call again tomorrow before we set off to the hotels restaurant.
We sit down at a little table, a white cloth is draped over with a simple red rose in a vase and two empty wine glasses. I help her onto the chair, her little body is light in my grip. The restaurant is all inclusive and has a massive buffet.
I feel like everyone is staring at us, I wonder if people think she's mine? But I don't think that's why they're staring. I catch the odd glimpse but ignore it, they speak in a different language. "Ready for some food?" I smile, she nods eagerly.
Looking after Adelaide isn't as bad as I thought, she's such a smiley and happy child. It's quite hard to be mad at that. "What would you like?" I get her and myself a plate. "Tomato's" She tries to peer up to see what's on offer but she's too small. I laugh, "Tomato's?"
"Yes, mommy gives them to me all the time" Her toothy grin appears again. I nod and put some in her bowl, luckily the salad type food selection is right at the start of the buffet. I get her some bread rolls and other times similar, really I'm just going off what she tells me Cindy gives her for safety.
We sit down. She starts munching on her food and I do the same, I went for Spanish food.
She is really quite cute. Her hair is shiny and brown, but today it's swiped up in a pony tail. She's wearing a little dress that matches her rosy cheeks. I suddenly realise we're more alike in looks then I thought. "How old are you?" She swings her legs.
"How old do you think I am?" I take a bite of my food, it's so good. She giggles and holds up three tiny fingers. "Three?" I laugh. "Yeah" She shows her teeth when she smiles.
"How old are you?" I watch her pick up a tomato. "Two" She giggles. When we finish our food we head out for a walk. I take her coat out of her little rucksake and help her put it on.
We walk along the sea front, trying to spot any hot air balloons. "What's that?" She points up at the sky. "That's an aeroplane" I smile down at her, she smiles. We carry on walking and I feel her little hand crawl into mine.
A warm sensation flows through my body. I look down at our hands together and smile, how could I ever hate that? How could I ever be angry at her? I feel terrible for ever being mad at such a little bundle of cuteness. She's so harmless and precious.
We see an arcade and go play some games, "Teddy, teddy!" She jumps up and down by the teddy machine. I smile and fish around for some money to put in. "Okay, which one?" I get ready.
"Pink one please" Her teeth show again when she smiles. I nod accepting my challenge. I move the claw crane over to the pale pink teddy and aim for it, I feel anxious as I watch it go down. I'm hoping I can get it first time and show how cool I am, but I'm deflated when the claw drops the bear. "Oh no" She frowns, my heart breaks into pieces when her little face drop.
Right, I have to get it now. Feeling motivated then ever, I focus and move the claw again. This time it lowers, clutching the bear, a hopeful smile reappears on her face. I don't take my eyes off the bear. "You got it!" The biggest smile I think possible bursts onto her face when the bear drops down the hole.
"Thank you Darcy" She hugs my leg, another warm sensation flows through me. She hugs the bear to her chest.
I check the time, dad and Cindy should be back soon. We play a few more games until she becomes tired. "Can you carry me please?" Her doe eyes loom up at me, her eyelashes batting away. I smile and rest her body against my side.
I start walking back, I feel her head in my neck. "Darcyyy" I hear a voice faintly in the background. "Darcy" I turn around, in the distance I see Joseph, Ezra and Issac, a very drunk Issac. "Guys?" I raise my eyebrows.
I see Issac being held up by the both of them, "What have you done to him?" I laugh. "He thought he could out drink us, turns out he can't" Ezra looks down at a limp Issac.
"What? I totally out drunk you!" Issac's words are slurred and muddled. "Okay buddy, lets get you back" Joseph laughs.
We start to head back, "What are you doing with Adelaide? Alone?" Ezra cocks his eyebrow at me. "I'm looking after her" I smile, stroking a strand of hair out of her face. She's half asleep on my shoulder.
"Is dad forcing you?" I roll my eyes at his remark. "No, I offered" I give him a direct look. "She's so adorable" I smile, taking my eyes away from him and instead, to the sleepy girl on my shoulder. "Quite the opposite of emotions" Joseph chuckles.
The moon shines down on us in the night sky. I breath in the scent of the beach, smiling, before we enter the hotel. "There you are" Dad smiles at us, him and Cindy are in the reception. "We just got back" He smiles.
"I out-drunk them" Issac giggles. I think he was talking to himself but we all hear. "I think you have" My dad laughs, "I'll help him" He offers. He takes limp Issac off them and holds him against his side.
"I'm fine" He waves off. "I know buddy" My dad tries not to laugh. It's so nice to see them getting along. "I'm gonna take Adelaide to bed, its way past her bedtime" Cindy laughs as she takes her off me. I'm left feeling cold and upset that I no longer have her.
"I think someone defiantly needs to go to bed" Joseph looks at Issac. "Oh my god guys, I'm fine" A big goofy smile spreads on his face, I giggle.
"I'll take him to bed" I wrap his arm around my shoulder. "Only if you join me" He smirks. I nearly choke on air, my dad is standing right next to him. "Young man, I'll have none of that thank you" Dad eyes him.
"Don't worry Brucey I've never laid a finger on her, like ever..especially not in the shower yest-" I interrupt, my face like a tomato. "Bed time!" I push him away from my dad as quick as possible.
"I have my eye on you young man!" I hear my dad call to Issac, he just giggles.
"I love you Darling Darcy" More giggles as we, attempt, to climb the stairs.
"I love you too" I can't help but giggle.
