《Edge of Glory | Supergirl 1》Chapter 31

"Looks like your masked kidnapper was using advanced extraterrestrial weaponry."
Alex leaned back in her seat, "Well, the big question is, where did he take our target?"
"And why." Katie mumbles, she was fully in her super suit, her hands pressed against the table as another memory of Krypton went through her.
"Maybe he had some beef he needed to settle." Leah and Kara walk in, "Since when don't you call us?"
"I thought it might be a good idea to give you some time off."
Kara held her glare, "When I need time off, I'll fill out a request form with HR. Until then if there's a dangerous alien to catch I'd like to be included. Sir."
"Is he human?" Leah questions.
"Couldn't tell under all that armor."
Leah crossed her arms over her chest, "What would he want with an alien who eats rotting flesh?"
"The vulture he captured could be wanted on a dozen other worlds for crimes he committed long before he wound up in Fort Rozz." Hank says, "We could be dealing with an interstellar bounty hunter."
"You don't think-"
"No. No. If he were in town, we'd know." Katie was curious to what they were talking about, she moved away, using her DEO tablet to search the database of bounty hunters, one popped up, Lobo, but she decided not to ask and pay attention to the task at hand.
Alex sighs, almost grateful that whoever they were speaking of, was not what they were dealing with, "I ran all the images of the kidnapper through our database. Nothing matches up."
"Maybe if he's done this before, he's run into local law enforcement."
"We could interview NCPD. See if some of their missing persons are our missing aliens."
Leah moved her arms down to her sides, "Where do you think he took that guy?"
"As far as we know, he could be anywhere in the galaxy."
Hank looked over at Katie, "Agent Schott, you will be accompanying Alex and I to the NCPD. You need more field training in that category."
"Yes, sir."
🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆
Katie tugged at the uncomfortable pan suit she was in, standing behind Alex as Hank knocked on the door, "Agent Danvers, Schott, and Henshaw. FBI."
"I'm Detective Warren. He's Draper."
"We're looking into a recent kidnapping in National City." Hank pulled up the photo, "This is our primary suspect."
The men chuckled, "Halloween already, huh?"
"Any help would be appreciated."
"Feds come crawling." Agent Warren smirks, "You must be embarrassed."

Katie put her hands behind her back, tightening her fists, "As long as the job gets done, doesn't matter who helps. I mean, look at you guys."
"Meaning?"
"Crime's gone way down in National City over the last few months, a lot of thanks to Supergirl and Captain Marvel. But you don't mind that they help, do you?"
Warren's smirk drops, "I got an interview with a donut. Wouldn't want to be late."
"Yup. Sorry about Warren. He's a good cop. He's just, uh, not enlightened."
"Anything you can tell us?"
"Not much. We don't know who this guy is. We know he's been kicking around for months, though."
Katie's arms dropped, "There have been other kidnappings?"
"At least five that we know of. But, he's, uh, he's not just kidnapping them. We found all the bodies down by the river. All of them decapitated."
"How could we not have heard about this?"
"The Mayor wants this kept quiet, but all the victims were weird."
"Weird how?"
"One of them had gills. Like a fish."
"Hmm." Katie glanced at Hank and Alex.
"Hope that helps."
"Thank you, Detective Draper."
"Yeah, thank you."
Katie gave him a small smile, "Thank you for your time."
Detective Draper returned the smile, "It's no problem, Agent Schott."
Katie walked out, actually not tripping over the heels she was in, she turned her head to Hank, "There's an alien serial killer in National City."
"We need to find out who's next."
🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆
Leah walked into CatCo, in search for Winn, she didn't particularly want to talk, or anything, she just wanted to be in his presence. She was already tired enough from crying, and she wanted out of the apartment. She didn't really feel like going to the DEO for obvious reasons, of course, she was heartbroken that Hank had killed her mother, but she didn't feel angered by it like Kara did. She was upset, but she only could think of what was happening before she was killed. If she hadn't have been taken out, would Alex and Hank still be there, or would they be killed by her mother?
Leah was dressed casually, she had black ankle boots on with a black and white dress, she refused to even do anything with her hair, leaving it down. She pressed her glasses further up her nose, as her foot entered the level where Winn worked. Her eyes scanned the area but she didn't see her handsome hobbit. She stopped by his desk, sighing when she saw that he was doing Katie's work as well.

"If you're looking for him, he's down printing some paperwork."
Leah turned at the sound of a female's voice, her eyes fell on a woman with brown hair and a dress that made her cringe, "Oh, well, thank you."
"Do you work here?" The woman questions, stopping her work to speak to her.
Leah pushed her hair behind her ear, "Uh, yes and no. I am kind of an on call kind of worker."
"Hmm." The woman seemed to have sneered at that, "Well, if you don't work here. I'm sure you have business elsewhere."
Leah squinted her eyes at the woman, "What does that mean?"
"It means that you should get off the property if you don't have business here."
Leah scoffed, "What's your name?"
"Siobhan Smythe, Cat Grant's personal assistant." She spoke so highly of herself it made Leah want to go over and rip her hair right off.
"Oh, look, there is Cat Grant right now."
"So it is. I'm sure she'll ask for you to politely leave."
Leah rolled her eyes, then gave Cat a large smile, "Hi, mom!"
"Hello, Leah." Cat walked over, giving Leah a kiss on the cheek. "What brings you over, besides your hobbit boyfriend."
"I just wanted to get out and talk." Leah gave a sweet smile to Siobhan, who looked dumbfounded, "I've had a rough couple of days."
"Well, come in." Cat put an arm around her daughter, "I've still got ears. I can listen to you."
"Thanks, mom." Leah turned to Siobhan, "Your assistant did keep me company for a while."
🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆
"Based on the human aliases of our guy's victims, I think they were actually these five alien prisoners from Fort Rozz."
Katie leaned against the table, "Any other connection besides Fort Rozz?"
"Not that I can see. All different backgrounds and crimes. None of them were even cellmates."
Katie stared up at the screen, "The killer must be picking them for a reason." She paused, sitting straight up, "Wait a minute. Look at that. See what happens when you arrange them in the order that they were killed?"
"They were all incarcerated in Fort Rozz one after the other."
"That's the pattern." Alex says, her head turning to look at Katie, proud of her, "He's killing the escapees in their prisoner number order."
"Which would make the next target..." Hank pulled up the next file, "Prisoner 2445."
Katie pulled out her phone, "I'll call Kara and Leah."
"Not Leah." Alex spoke up, "She needs a day off."
"Alright."
"Is that the prince?"
"No, not him."
"Those are the guards, sweetie."
"Then where is the prince?"
"Probably partying."
"Zor!"
"But am I truly wrong, Alura?"
"Why must I be here? Why couldn't Kara be here instead? I am not your actual daughter."
Katie fell forward, holding her head, "Ugh, I hate this."
Hank walked over and helped her off the ground, "It should subside soon."
"How close is soon?" Katie releases another groan as she sits down on the chair, "Because I have an intense hate for Daxamites now. Also, Krypton is a lovely place."
Hank chuckled at her, "For the amount of time you were connected to Leah's memories, you will most likely have these flashes for a couple more days."
"So I get to hate Daxam a little more?" Katie mused, her back pressed against the chair, "What is Daxam anyway?"
"The twin planet of Krypton." Alex answers her, "I've heard a little about it from Kara."
"Does Kara not like the people there?"
"From what I heard from Kara, they were what our people would call fuckboys, partiers-"
"Then the memories make some sense." Katie mumbles, messing with her hair, "It's showing me glimpses of Krypton through Leah's eyes and how she perceived Daxam. Apparently, she had an arranged marriage, but it didn't go well because the Prince never showed up."
"This is why a treaty with Daxam can never work. It's obvious they don't care about the treaty, they did not care that their son never arrived."
"You know." Katie winced, covering her head, "I hate this."
"We know." Alex sighs, "I mean, I guess you can be an honorary Kryptonian."
"I like being a mutant of Earth." Katie paused, her head turning to Hank, "Speaking of mutants. Have you found any others?"
"Other mutant?" Hank rose an eyebrow, "Of all my years working at the DEO, I've heard of mutants, but we never had an encounter with one before you."
"I think we should look for them." Katie says, "But it kind of sounds impossible."
"Maybe you should write an article about it on your alien blog." Alex jokes, "I'm sure you'll have a bunch of comments."
"That's not a bad idea actually." Katie says, "I can broaden my Tumblr account from aliens to both aliens and mutants. Maybe more will appear when they realize that Solar Flare is a mutant and not an alien."
"Be careful, Katie." Hank warned, "You don't need any unwanted attention."
"I get enough unwanted attention." Katie sighs, "Like at work today, I'm pretty sure the new Mini Miss Grant winked at me."
"Maybe she winked at Winn."
"No, Winn was talking to Kara." Katie shakes her head, remembering the brunette's eyes on her.
"I guess you've got an admirer."
"I'm straight." Katie says, then paused, "Well, I'm pretty sure I am."
