Iceman sat at one of the outer tables at the bar. He would look up every so often, when he did it a third time, the whole bar had gone quiet. Iceman squared his shoulders seeing Maverick in a flowing icy blue glittery sparkly two piece dress that fit her well. She paused and took a breath then smiled looking around for Iceman, her brown eyes instantly meeting his blue eyes. Her makeup was absolutely breathtaking and her curly hair was down. Iceman shifted getting lost in Mavericks pure perfection. She blushed when he looked her over making her way to Icemans table. Flamethrower was somewhere around trying to woo some poor woman.
"Iceman." Maverick said smiling.
"Please call me Tom Kazansky." Iceman said with a slight smile, his hand resting on Maverick's shoulder softly.
"Well in that case I'm Brett. Brett Johnson." Maverick said with a friendly smile.
Iceman stiffened up seeing Sundown look at them, more like a leering type of look aimed at Maverick.
"Hold on Brett." Iceman said stopping Maverick and he glared at Sundown, "You were saying?"
"I forgot." Maverick said with a slight chuckle and did her cute dimple smile as Iceman then cooled his jets after looking back at her.
"Does the Iceman dance?"
"He can, Sure." Iceman said standing up and leaving his sunglasses next to Mavericks sunglasses. Maverick walked slowly with Iceman in tow to the dance floor. Iceman smiled at Mav as she spun around and dipped down then came back to him. At first, Iceman's moves were stiff and awkward. Maverick exclaimed excitedly as Great Balls of fire was played on the piano right afterwards.
"Aaahhhhaaaa!!!" She exclaimed excitedly, having fun when Iceman was slowly letting his guard down with the pretty girl before him.

"Who's the pretty girl?" Flamethrower asked Iceman as Maverick walked over to Goose belting out the lyrics as loud as her voice would let her.
"It's Maverick." Iceman said smiling at her having fun with her Rio. Goose and Maverick grew up together and were best friends, they were also childhood best friends with Ghostrider.
Who also joined them in belting out their favorite lyrics in front of these drunken soldiers. Towards the end Iceman came over and picked Maverick up by the waist spinning her playfully.
"C'mon now girl. Let's get you some water before you lose your voice." Iceman said to Maverick.
"Thanks Kazansky." Maverick said smiling, "Thanks for the good time I mean."
"Anytime Brett. Anytime." Kazansky said and kissed her temple then went to the bar leaning against the counter as he got the bartenders attention finally an got Maverick a water with lemon. The lemon would help leave behind a protective coating on Mavericks throat so it wouldn't get any worse. Iceman sat the shot glass with water and a squeezed lemon in front of Maverick. His intentions so far seemed genuine to Maverick. Iceman wasn't trying to get her drunk and whisk her away to some place private, which caused Maverick to trust Iceman even more. She smiled at Iceman and looked around the bar seeing that Slider was close by. He was flirting with a girl till she walked away in a flourish. Maverick giggled seeing his failure.
"Hey, why don'tcha go see if Slider notices you yeah?" Iceman asked Maverick. She was about to go help Slider out till one man, whom commanded attention from the room walked in. Peter Mitchell. Maverick's collective jaw was on the floor again. Pete Mitchell cleaned up well. And he seemed a bit guarded like iceman was. Maverick shook her head and walked over to Slider after getting a drink from the bartender. It was Sliders favorite.

"Hi suga." Maverick said smiling and Slider was all over her till Iceman came over.
"How sweet of you Mav to bring Slider a drink." Iceman said.
Slider did a double take looking at Maverick in surprise.
"Hi Slider." Maverick said tilting her head and leaned in towards Iceman when his hand rested on the small of her bare back.
"Hey, why don't we go somewhere more quiet hm?" Iceman asked Maverick.
Maverick nodded smiling.
"Wellll helloooooo there." Hollywood said looking at Maverick.
"Fuck off Hollywood. Mav's my date." Iceman said tilting his head back a bit and pressing his lips together to assert his prowess. Hollywood blanched and looked shocked.
"Babygirl, that's you??" Hollywood said.
"Yeah it's me Hollywood." Maverick said smiling brightly. The boys called Maverick babygirl because she was like a sister to them and it was a term of endearment for her. She looked over at Iceman waiting for him to dismiss them from Sliders table.
"Ready to go beautiful?" Iceman asked Maverick.
"I'm ready Ice." Maverick said.
"See ya Pete Mitchell." Iceman said with Maverick around his arm. He smirked at Ghostrider and smiled looking down at Maverick. Which always gave her butterflies when he looked down at her, since she was shorter than Iceman, who was about 6 foot. Maverick placed her hand on Icemans shoulder causing him to lean towards her, she whispered into his ear about something. It was about Slider. Maverick was concerned. Sliders wife had just divorced him and Slider seemed to be taking it really hard. But then again who wouldn't react how Slider has been lately.
"Yeah. I'm worried about him too Brett." Iceman told Maverick. She squeezed Icemans hand and stopped him.
"You know, if you ever wanna vent when he comes to you with shit, I'm here both as a friend and whatever else you need me to be Kazansky." Maverick said standing tall, holding both of Icemans hands in her smaller hands.
"We're whatever you want us to be Maverick." Iceman said looking into Mavericks brown eyes. He knew by how the woman carried herself around men that she had seen hell with her family.
"And I'm here for you too Mav. You know that."
"Thank you Kazansky." Maverick said, squeezing Icemans hands in a loving manner.
Iceman nodded subtly and he leaned in, kissing her tenderly, waiting for Maverick to respond and make the kiss go further if she wanted it to. Maverick draped her arms around Icemans neck furthering the kiss, tilting her head and her right hand rested on the back of Icemans head.
"Mmm.. Let's take this somewhere else. More.... private." Iceman said looking into Mavericks eyes again. God she loved this man so much even though she didn't know why, Iceman drove her crazy. Iceman immediately took Maverick to his bungalow, talking and laughing the whole way about stupid shit Goose said or has done.
"You know Mav?" Iceman said as he went up his bungalow steps first, "You can hang with me anytime."
Maverick smirked, her reputation was well known. She wooed lots of men but only the real special ones got as close as Kazansky was going to get to Maverick.
"Good to know Kazansky..." Maverick said as Iceman took her hand behind him and led her into his bungalow.

Necromancer. That word used to be feared throughout the continent, perhaps the world. Now barely anybody knows what it means. The necromancers of old were powerful, cunning, and insidious. The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]
