《Kissing You》Kissing You; Chapter 7; Trouble Follows Me
My eyes slowly blur into focus as I spot a few unfamiliar objects. Oh yeah, I slept at Kyle's house, but this not how I remember his living room looking. This room's dark blue, and there's pictures everywhere and I'm under a...a...blanket? What the hell? My eyes are still extremely blury, but I try hard to examine the room. I feel like crap! What happened last night? I definitely don't remember drinking or taking anything. I slowly turn my head to face the other way.
"Morning, sleepy head," Kyle whispers while resting his elbow on his pillow then resting his head on the palm of his hand.
This is the shock of my life! I let out a death threatening scream, causing me to tumble off the humongous bed and land hard on my side. "Why are we in the same bed? Together! Last time I checked, I slept on the sofa because you were being a right jerk!" I shriek as I spring up from the floor and slam my hands on the soft cushioned bed.
"Sasha, calm down, nothing happened. Stop being so dramatic."
Calm down? He wants me to calm down! I remember going to sleep on the sofa then waking up in a bed. With him! Together! All snuggled up like it's a casual routine for him. I jump back on the be and pounce on him like a vicious tiger. He tries to escape but I vigorously push him back hard against the headboard, then straddle my legs around him."Dramatic? Dramatic!" I viciously bark.
"Woah, easy tiger. I know you want me that bad and everything, to be fair every girl does but sorry I don't do morning sex," he laughs while softly caressing my cheek with the back of his hand.
I swat his hand away from my face and pin both of his arms over his head. He flexes his shoulder blades then tenses his biceps."You think this is funny! Does it look like I'm laughing?" I snarl. "If you done anything to me last night, while I was asleep. I swear to God I'm gonna-"
"Do what exactly, Sasha? Hit me?" he interrupts me as he raises a brow at me the stretches the corner of his lips to form his infamous smirk.
"Don't think I won't hesitate to do it. You don't scare me Kyle Carlson," I growl, moving my face closer to his. Both our breathing deepens and his alluring presence butters up my violent intentions and that's when he slowly bites his bottom lip at me, flourishing my hormones into a desired frenzy.
"I don't think that's a very bright idea now. Do you?" he murmurs. "We both know that you wouldn't want a reconstruction of what happened by the lockers yesterday. And this time, I won't stop," he threatens me with a devious smug look on his face. I deeply exhale then toss his hand away then watch as it flops effortlessly on the bed. I bring myself off of him and rest opposite him with my legs crossed."Good girl," he breathes with a hint of amusement in his tone.
"Kyle don't push it! You don't scare me one bit," I quietly snarl.
I hear him scoff so I snap my head towards him and he holds his hands in surrender and presses his lips together to prevent him from bursting out into laughter."Oh just a reminder, you know we have school today, right?" he states while he shuffles off the bed and takes position on the edge of his bed and puts his T-shirt on then slips on his Nike sneakers.
"Yeah and your point is?" I ask him, sitting upright on the bed. He slightly turns his head a bit to face me then scoffs at my reply.
"Check out what you're wearing then remind yourself who's house you're at," he continues before he gets up and heads for the door.
I look down at myself then realise I'm Kyle's T-shirt and baggy shorts. Oh, no way! "Wait! Drive me home please" I urgently plead as I hop off the bed, run towards the door and grab onto his arm. He quickly turns around and is startled by my tone of voice. It's like a desperate cry for help.
"What for?"
"Well have you seen what I'm wearing?"
He looks me up and down then slowly drops his shoulders and exhales loudly. I flutter my eyelashes a him and pucker my lips, hoping that would make him soften up a bit. That method always works. He roughly rubs his forehead and leans on the door."Sasha, the stuff I do for you," he sighs.
"Kyle, don't make me laugh this early in the morning."
"Ah come on, let's just go before I change my mind," he insists as he re-opens the door and walks out of room. I quickly follow him out and carefully shut the door behind me. I grab the clothes that I wore yesterday from the radiator and swing it over my shoulder and quickly catch up with Kyle who is already down the stairs and leaving the house.
I slip on my shoes then shut the door behind me and eagerly catch up with Kyle. He opens the car door for me and I slide into his comfy car seat. I observe as he puts his seat belt on and that's when a small foolish smile appears on my face. He remembers how strongly I feel about seat belts while driving.
Bless his non-existent heart...
"Oh my, did you just put your seat belt on?" I sarcastically gasp placing my hand over my mouth and bulging my eyes out as if I'm genuinely in shock. He stares at me for a while with a pure straight face. I guess he doesn't find the joke as amusing as I do. Thanks for killing my epic joke moment Kyle.
" I actually worry about you sometimes," he scoffs, shaking his head in disbelief then starting the engine.
"There's nothing wrong with me!" I wail as I punch his arm hard then stick my tongue out at him. Ouch, that hurt me more than it hurt him.
"Ow! Sasha, you have really hard blows for a chick!" he squeals while rubbing his arm.
"Well I can blow much harder," I state with a proud look on my face as I cross my arms over my chest. There's a moment of silence and Kyle glares in shock but his shocked face quickly transforms into a devious smirk. That's when I realise my statement sounded incredibly dirty and Kyle loved every word of it. "Oh gosh, Kyle. Not like that !" I scream as I bury my head in my hands in embarrassment.
"In time Sasha, in time. I love it when you talk dirty, anyway. It really turns me on," he huskily whispers down my ear. His hot breath fanning against my neck, sending chills down my spine. He starts the car then drives out of his porch and onto the road.
He's giving me butterflies. But why? I don't like him or anything...
Of course you like him. You guys will be the super hot couple of the year-
No, no! Don't be daft, this boy's a jerk, he doesn't deserve to be treated right by a girl.
My conscience can be a right bitch at times but that's why we get along so well. Well most of the time that is. I mean he has the looks but definitely not the personality... Okay just chant in your head, over and over again. Sasha does not like Kyle, Sasha does not like Kyle, Sasha does not like Kyle. There! That should do it! After that mantra, them feelings for Kyle shouldn't come back!
God forbid!
"Why don't you and Jacob live together?" I randomly ask out of the blue. He clenches his jaw tightly and keeps his eyes on the road, staying oblivious to my question. Oh, that's not the kind of response I was looking for. Maybe I shouldn't of asked that.
"We don't get along that much," he murmurs in a lifeless tone.
"Why?"
"Some things are best kept secret. Don't you agree Sash?" he replies still keeping his eyes on the road and not bothering to even catch a glimpse of me.
"I suppose. It's just that I thought-"
"Sasha, you haven't taken an interest for my brother have you?" he questions me with a little laughter in his voice and a small smirk on his face.
"No!" I quickly reply with a hint of disgust in my tone even though Jacob is smoking hot.
"Good! Let's keep it that way. I wouldn't want to share you with anyone else," he scoffs then turns to face me and stares with his burning wolf eyes. I lower my head down in embarrassment then rethink what he just said. He doesn't want to share me? Am I his property now or something?
I think there's a little green monster called 'Mr Jealousy' on top of Kyle's shoulder...Hmm... "What's that supposed to mean?" I extend the interrogation but this time with a stern tone. My normal calm and pleasant demeanour slowly changes and my face contort in and all - consuming anger and fury; my nostrils flaring, my eyes flashing and closing into slits and it sparkling with ferocity.
"Ssh...If you're not gonna use your mouth to kiss me then don't use it all, baby girl," he softly croons then pouts his lips and blows me a soft tender kiss. I open my mouth to retaliate but he lets one hand go off the steering wheel and delicately places it over my lips to stop me from saying anything else. I roll my eyes at him then violently knock his hand away from my mouth, this makes him snigger but he continues to steer the wheel as we rapidly approach my street.
As soon as I see my house I quickly undo my seat belt and prepare to exit the car. We both leave the car at the same time and we slowly walk towards the house. I don't think I can do this. My legs start to tremble as I get closer to the door and I can barely get my head around everything. I need to apologise to my mother. It's the best thing to do. "Should I wait in the car?" Kyle slowly asks me resting his hands on my shoulder and twisting me around to face him.
I shake my head then turn back to face the door which stands in my presence. I take a deep breath before I unlock the door and walk into the dark cold house, followed behind by Kyle. It doesn't feel the same as yesterday when my mom was in. It's almost as if whenever she's not here, she takes all the happiness with her but never uses it for herself and me and Tash can never get it back.
"Pretty quiet," Kyle whispers as he quietly shuts the door behind him.
"They're probably asleep. I'm going upstairs to take a shower then get changed, I'll be down in half an hour or so."
"Okay fine, but don't take too long," he commands as he stretches his sexy body over my couch.
Oh hell no! He did not just put his feet on my couch. I'll let it pass...for today - ahh typical boys...
I run to my room and pull out something to wear; a pink crop top and my high waisted American pants. I sprint to the shower and take a quick shower, being sure I wash my hair too, so it's nice and clean, because Kyle has a tendency of coming right up close to me then breathing down my neck. My hair needs to smell extremely good if Kyle's going to keeping proceeding with that arousing activity.
After I finish taking a shower then washing my hair, I get changed into my clothes then blow dry my hair. Oh no! It's all in frizzy curls but I can't be bothered to straighten it today so I'll leave it as that. I reach into my drawer and pull out my special perfume that I only wear on special occasions; my Coco Chanel one. I slip on my pink Nike sneakers and grab my school bag then head downstairs. Kyle's still on the sofa watching TV while he's on the cell phone. Texting and smiling. "All done," I announce which makes him snap his head behind and run his eyes up and down me. He gawks for a while then blinks several times without saying anything. Oh gosh, does my hair, really look that bad?
"You look, um-um," He stumbles through his own words.
"I know my hair's not really on point today but-"
"No! You look...good," he interrupts me as he runs his fingers through his hair. I shyly bow my head down then quietly thank him. I remember how Jacob called me beautiful and how Kyle just said that I looked good.
Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it. "We should be going now," Kyle finally breathes interrupting my thoughts of Jacob. I nod in agreement then follow him out the room.
"Sashy! Sashy!" A voice calls from behind me.
I turn around to see Tasha running towards me. Her hair in two big ponytails and dressed in her favourite pink dress with white small heeled stilettos. "Tasha, baby are you home all alone?" I ask her with a panic in my voice as I examine her both up and down to try make sense of everything.
"No! Me and mommy were playing hide and seek then she told me to count to one hundred while she went to hide but now I can't find her! She's really good at hiding" she cries out with excitement.
My mouth drops open then my jaw automatically clenches and so do my fists. I turn my head to face Kyle and he has his hands in his pockets and his eyebrows remains surprised. I'm pretty sure "mom"'s not even in the house anymore. She probably ran away and left Tasha home by herself! And to think, I was actually going to apologise to her for the way I acted last night. Now, how am I going to explain this one? "Look, Tasha. Mommy had to probably run off to work again, but I can take you to Riya's house and you can go school with her and her mom," I suggest.
"But why can't you take me to school?" she argues as she rests her tiny hands on her hips and pouts her bottom lip.
"Because I have to go to my school as well, princess. Sorry."
The bright glow in her face dims to darkness and her smile turns into a frown. Then her eyes moves away from me and shifts to Kyle who is still behind me. Surprisingly, waiting patiently. Well that's a first for Mr Carlson. "Who's that?" she questions me with a huge wild smile on her face.
"Oh that's my friend Kyle," I explain to her as I stare down at my feet and emphasise the term 'friend'.
He brightly smiles at her then cheerfully waves. That's when the big grin appears on Tasha's face which makes me wonder what's going through her tiny head. "Is he your boyfriend, Sashy?" She slowly asks still with that big mischievous grin on her face. Yeah the penny's finally dropped. This little girl is too nosey for my liking. I don't know where she got it from.
"Yes" he calmly interrupts.
"No!" I quickly affirm her as I switch my focus to Kyle and glare at him. Why did he just say that? His statements that he claims to be "jokes", really are not funny.
"I'm just joking Tasha, I'm not. But I will be," he slowly reassures as he moves closer towards her then winks at me.
"Yeah, keep wishing! Now come on, Tasha lets take you over to Riya's."
"But I don't wanna go with them!" She wails as she tugs on my clothes.
"Why not?" I curiously question her.
"Well her brother scares me," She leans in close to me and whispers into my ear as if it's a big secret I couldn't breathe a word to anyone.
"Come on, he can't be that bad. What's his name?"
"Malachi Leonardo Baker," she proclaims making every name perfectly clear for everyone to hear. Well I personally think it was a quite handsome name and I really want to meet him now.
"Wow that is one heck of a name," Kyle chuckles while texting on his cell phone.
"Don't be so mean, I'm sure he's a very nice person. Now lets go!" I hurriedly shuffle Tasha across the room and towards the door and Kyle follows behind, eyes still glued to his cell phone. That's when I hear a familiar tune of a cell phone behind me, Kyle hears it too.
"Was that yours?" he asks me with his eyebrows screwed in confusion. I shake my head and start looking around my bag to check if it was my cell phone, but mine is switched off. I explore the room trying to find where the noise is coming from. "Here," Kyle says while holding a thin slender cell phone. I recognise that phone. That's my mom's, I could never forget it because that's the one I got her for her birthday. He hands me the cell phone and I flip open the flap of the phone.
Missed calls? Several missed calls! I scroll down all the names of the callers. This must be a mistake, they're all names of dudes. Mom vowed to stay away from any guy ever since what Tasha's dad, Mike used to constantly do to her. "Sasha, what is it? What's wrong?" Kyle asks me.
"Erm, nothing, don't worry about it."
"Are you sure because if-"
"Look Kyle, I said don't worry!" I snap.
His face transforms into absolute horror from my response so he frowns at me then kisses her teeth. "Woah easy there. No need to be such a bitch,"
"I didn't mean it. Now can we just forget about this and go," I quickly say trying to get my head around all these missed calls from different guys on my mom's cell phone. He doesn't bother to respond and he instead just turns around and leaves the house. Great one Sasha, you've gotten him all pissed again. This is going to be an awkward drive...
* * * * * * * * * * * *
"So this is Riya's house then?" I ask with Tasha's hand staying tightly interlocked with mine.
"Yeah, it's very big, right?" she exclaims
I frantically nod then stare at the big mansion. It's absolutely huge! With stain glass windows and a monstrous main entrance door! The Bakers must be filthy rich judging from the outside. "Why don't you guys go up and I'll just wait here by the car," Kyle suggests as he leans on his car.
"What? You're not scared are you?" I laugh as I punch him in the stomach then turn to Sasha who is also giggling.
"No! I'm Kyle Carlson and I'm not scared of anything!" Kyle divulges while putting his hands in his pockets and flicking his hair away from his blazing wolf eyes.
"Oh come on, What's the worst that can happen?" I declare then drag both him and Tasha towards the main door on the huge house. Tasha gently presses the door bell then steps back and waits for someone to answer. Finally the door creaks open and we all take a little step back. A dark tall figure appears on the door step. Then when the figure is finally in light, it's a tall dark boy. He looks quite young, probably around his teen years. He's got thick glasses on, a polo shirt, baggy jeans and sneakers. There's silence as the boy stares at us with wide eyes and doesn't say anything.
No one breathes a single word. "Hey!" I yell as I hold out my hand to shake his, but he just slowly looks down at my hand then looks back up at me. I quickly pull my hand back and decide to say something else. Wow he's a rude dude. "Well you must be Malachi," I continue. He nods his head but still doesn't say anything. His lips remain closed but his eyes stay wide.
"Dude are you even gonna speak!" Kyle snaps. Malachi sharply moves his eyes away from me and glares at Kyle.
"So this is your new victim then, Kyle?" Malachi slowly says with a hint of distaste. His voice is really deep and husky but still has a hint of a West African accent. He shuffles his eyes across both me and Kyle. Kyle avoids the question and moves his eyes off Malachi and back to his phone.
Okay now everyone definitely knows something I don't. "So anyway Tasha's going school with Riya today if that's okay?"
