Chapter 18:Lunch

Class flew by which I was grateful for because it meant that I wouldn't have to deal with Amy nagging me about Lash and I could get some food at lunch. As I walked to the cafeteria my mind wondered back to Lash and suddenly my stomach started to feel uneasy. I decided to get an apple and a sandwich but only ate the apple and then gave Amy my sandwich. So I got up to throw my apple core away and as I got to the trash can I could hear Lash's voice.

I turned around to see him stretch his arm and trip a kid on the other side of the cafeteria. The kid ended up spilling his trey of food onto Warren Peace...the school's bad guy...when truth was he wasn't that bad...like I thought Lash was...but I don't know anymore. Warren quickly stood up and after a quick exchange of words Warren had the kid by the collar then lit his arms up with his fire.

"Oh it is so on!" Lash said laughing with Speed.

I clenched my hands into tight fist and clenched my teeth together. I wasn't sure if I should yell at Lash, stop the fight or just go home and cry. I found out the only thing I could do was stand there frozen as Warren threw fireball after fireball at the poor kid. The kid found safety under the tables while Warren jumped on-top yelling about him being a sidekick and where his sidekicks where. This is going to far! I need to stop it...but my feet wont move. Once his friends pushed through the crowd Warren fired up again but then the kids lifted the table.

"The kids strong!" I thought to myself as did everyone else!

The kid then threw the table with Warren still on-top making him hit part of the ceiling that hung down. Next the kid turned to Speed and Lash who both had shock and fear on their faces.

"This didn't go how I wanted." Lash thought.

"Great Gwen is going to kill us if this kid doesn't!" Speed thought.

"So which one of you tripped me?" The kid asked them.

Speed ran off while Lash stretched up and held on to the banister of the cafeteria. Warren got back up so the kids ran to deal with him and so the fight continued. I didn't care after what I just saw I just want to go home and get far away from Lash. I did I let him fool me into believing him.

"Cowardly Jerk!" I yelled at Lash then stormed out of the cafeteria.

"Mary! MARY PLEASE WAIT!" Lash yelled after me.

"NO! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!" I yelled back clinching my fist even tighter; biting my lip trying to hold back the tears that where on the verge of falling.

"MARY PLEASE WAIT! LET ME EXPLAIN!" he yelled grabbing my wrist.

"AND WHY SHOULD I?!" I yelled yanking my arm out of his grip as tears started falling.

"Because you love me...just as much as I love you." he said softly as he walked up behind me.

"It doesn't seem like you love me, the way I love you. After what we talked about last night, then you go and do that to the poor kid during lunch!" I yelled turning to face him as tears fell down...I could no longer hold them back.

"That's the freshman Will Stronghold. Again this is all apart of Gwen's plan. Please stay with me." he said has his voice started to crack.

"I truly love you and I'm doing this to protect you! I'd do anything to keep you safe even if it means that everyone hates me, jail time or even death. I don't care as long as I can protect you! I mean all of this Mary it's the truth! Please Mary, Please forgive me. I didn't know that you saw or that you would see. I thought you stayed in the classroom to do homework ahead of time. I'm sooooo sorry! Please forgive me!" he said hugging me tightly. I could hear him catching his voice this whole time...almost like he was trying to hold back tears.

I looked up at him with my own blurry vision and I could see him straining not to cry.

"Lash?" I said uncertain about what exactly to say but needing to say something.

"Mary! Please forgive me...That's all I ask. I don't want you to hate me. I don't care how anyone else feels about me, but you...I would die if you hated me." he said hugging me tighter as tears fell down his face as he tried to hide his face into my neck.

I never knew he felt like that...Lash has always been the stronger of us. I never seen him cry before. He always stayed strong where I couldn't...but seeing him like this makes me realize that he was only strong for my sake...now the thought of losing me and having me hate him brings out his weakness.

"Oh Lash! I'm sooo sorry. I forgive you and I could never hate you." I said hugging him back tightly.

"Mary. I'm so sorry." he said leaning back and wiping my tears away.

"No. I'm the one who is sorry Lash. I should've believed you from the start and never let doubt in...I didn't know how much I hurt you when I storm off and yell. You were always so strong for my sake...I'm so sorry Lash. I'll never leave you or hurt you again." I said wiping his tears away.

"I wasn't strong for your sake...You are the reason I was strong. You gave me all the strength I needed." he said grabbing my hands.

"Let's promise to stay together through this whole thing. So that we can stay strong together. ok?" he suggested.

"Ok It's a promise." I said smiling at him.

"Then let us seal this promise with a kiss." he said bring his face closer.

We shared a sweet kiss to seal our promise. We will stay together, be strong together. I will stay with him, this is my choice...no it's our choice. No matter what my friends say, this is what it will be. As we broke apart the bell rang for lunch to end and the next class to begin. Lash and I smiled as we walked to class hand in hand.

After school we shared a kiss at my locker then the twins took me home. They talked about the fight but I just thought about the promise that Lash and I made. Once home I barley ate and just went to bed thinking of Lash and anticipating tomorrow...so I can see him again. Some may think it's gonna kill us being together, but truth is. It will kill us if we separate.
