Luke yawned as he was standing by the grill in the kitchen. It was a stressed day at work today but Luke just couldn't pick up his pace.
He hadn't slept much last night since he and Ashton had been up late on the phone to discuss all these apartment possibilities. Also, Leon had been cranky because Peach and Ashton weren't there. Leon had woken up extremely early and whined about how he couldn't sleep alone. Luke had desperately tried to get him to fall back to sleep with him in his bed, but that hadn't worked either.
It had all ended with two cranky and annoyed boys who had started to argue, and Luke hated arguing with Leon.
He also hated the fact that he had to drop off Leon by the preschool while the small one was still angry with him. But Luke had no choice since he had to work, and Leon wasn't cooperating, so there wasn't much else he could have done.
"Luke, I know you have a kid and that makes you tired and so on, but if you keep going at this pace Leon will have gotten you grandkids before you get home" Tim spoke up, obviously frustrated by Luke's slacking.
Luke only raised a hand up in the air and waved it around in dismissal before taking one of the many orders that were hung up over the counter.
"I'm just taking a break to rest my eyes" Luke mumbled and yawned once again before balling his fists up and rubbed his knuckles over the bags under his eyes.
He knew he must look like shit today.
"Wow, you look like shit" Lexi said as she stepped into the kitchen, and Luke sighed as his own theory was confirmed.
Luke raised his head to eye Lexi up and down, furrowing his eyebrows slightly when seeing her smile happily. Luke was confused because he had probably never seen Lexi smile during work.
"Why do you look like that?" he asked and raised an eyebrow up in suspicion.
"Like what?" Lexi asked and looked herself up and down before glancing up at Luke again.
"Like that," Luke said and pointed at her face, "Smiling and happy. You're scaring me"
Lexi rolled her eyes but grinned when shrugging her shoulders, "When something good happens to you, you're usually happy and smiling"
"Okay," Luke snorted, "So what's the good thing that has made you so happy then?"
Lexi glanced between both Luke and Tim who were watching her intently, and then shrugged again. "I'll tell you when I'm ready to share my happiness," she spoke and smiled quite bashfully when walking closer to the counter, "So, do you have anything that needs to be sent out?"
"Um, yeah," Tim said and handed her a bowl of seafood, "It's going to table 17"
"Okay, thanks" Lexi said smiling and took the bowl but kept eye contact with Tim a just a bit longer before turning around to walk out to the restaurant.
"You're welcome" Tim mumbled and smiled small as he watched her leave, licking his lips discretely.
But Luke saw though. He saw everything and he was standing still on his spot with wide eyes and mouth slightly agape in realization.
"Oh no," Luke spoke and shook his head, making Tim turn and look at him with furrowed eyebrows, "No way is she going out with you!"
"What are you talking about?" Tim asked but quickly averted his eyes from Luke down to the stove to hide his face from the older boy.
"You know what I'm talking about! I'm not stupid, I could read the looks you two gave each other," Luke said and shook his head again before laughing, "I would've never guessed"
Tim frowned and looked at Luke with a slightly offended expression, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means that I would never have thought that she'd go out with you, and vise versa" Luke spoke and chuckled as he started with his dish.
"Why?" Tim asked and frowned deeper before adding, "And we're not dating"
"Oh?" Luke said and raised his eyebrows before smirking, "So you're just sleeping with each other then?"
"What? No!" Tim said and shook his head, "We're just hanging out"
"Hanging out?" Luke asked and eyed him suspiciously, "Nothing else?"
"Not yet at least" Tim answered and looked down to hide his slightly bashful face.
"So you haven't even done anything sexual-"
"No! God, what's wrong with you?" Tim asked and looked at Luke with slightly pink cheeks, making the blonde smirk.
"What? Lexi does this to me all the time, pressuring me about how my private relationship stuff is" Luke said and shrugged, "And also; you're 19 years old Tim, it's okay to talk about sex. Or haven't you had your birds and the bees talk yet?"
Tim glared at Luke like a real teenager before rolling his eyes, making Luke laugh out.
"Shut up, grandpa" Tim muttered.
"Not yet, Leon needs to hit puberty first" Luke said and smirked. Tim scoffed.
"And that will be around when you hit it, right? When was that, around 20?" Tim said and send a quick smirk towards Luke as the older one laughed sarcastically.
"Funny, you're funny," Luke mumbled and threw a slice of tomato at Tim, "Just know that if you and Lexi start dating, you'll be the bitch in the relationship. You have nothing on her"
Tim rolled his eyes and snorted before speaking up, but had no time to as Dan stepped into the kitchen.
"Luke, you have a phone call" he spoke and looked at Luke who was still smirking slightly.
"From who?" Luke asked and wiped his hands on his chefs jacket.
"Leon's preschool. Apparently there's been an accident" Dan spoke and the small smile on Luke's face dropped immediately before he hurried out of the kitchen and up the stairs to the top floor to reach the phone.
"Hello?" he said quickly as the phone was pressed to his ear.
"Mr. Hemmings?" a female voice said from the other line.
"Yes, this is he. What's going on?" Luke asked with a anxious voice, just needing to get answers to know if his kids were okay.
"I'm afraid to tell you that there's been a small accident happening to Leon. He has probably broken his arm and is on his way to hospital with Miss Hewitt right now to check it up" the woman spoke and Luke sighed out in relief when knowing nothing more had happened to his son.
"Okay, I'll go there right now" Luke spoke and said a hurried 'thank you' and 'goodbye' before hanging up and ran down to the locker room to meet Dan.
"I need to leave, I'm going to the hospital" Luke spoke and took off his chefs jacket and pants and hang it back in the locker while hurriedly dressing himself in his sweatshirt and jeans.
"Is Leon okay?" Dan asked with a worried frown on his face.
"Broken arm probably" Luke sighed and Dan nodded his head while still wearing the frown.

"Yeah, of course you should leave then. Give the little one my thoughts, and we hope it's nothing more serious" Dan spoke and gave Luke a reassuring smile.
"Thanks, man" Luke spoke and patted Dan's shoulder before hurrying out the back door and jogged towards the bus while trying to take his phone out the pocket of his tight jeans.
After a lot of struggling, he got his phone out and called Ashton. The older boy answered after only a few seconds.
"Hi" Ashton's happy and smooth voice was heard through the phone.
"Hi" Luke answered through heavy pants as he was still jogging. He wasn't used to working out. It wasn't his favorite thing to do.
"What are you doing? Are you running?" Ashton asked and laughed in slight amusement.
"Yeah" Luke panted out.
"Why? Don't you have work?"
"I had to leave because I need to get to the hospital," Luke answered and sighed in relief when seeing the bus hadn't left yet, "Leon's broken his arm"
"What?" Ashton said and Luke heart almost warmed up by hearing the real worried tone Ashton had in his voice. Luke knew Leon meant the world to Ashton, just like Peach did to Luke.
"I'll leave too and meet you there" Ashton said and Luke could hear rustling from the other line.
"Are you sure? You can finish working and meet up with us later. Leon will probably have to wait for hours before anyone can check on him" Luke said.
"No, of course not," Ashton said and the determination made Luke smile small, "I'll pick Peach up and we'll meet you there in 30 minutes"
"Okay," Luke breathed out and smiled when knowing he had someone who cared so deeply, "I love you, Ashton"
"I love you too, Luke" Ashton said softly before both boys hung up their phones.
**
Luke entered the hospital after a 8 minutes bus ride, and jogged towards the waiting room. He immediately located his son in the quite crowded room and walked over to him with hurried steps.
"Hi, bud" Luke spoke softly as crouched down in front of Leon's chair. He watched his son's tear-stained cheeks and pouting lips, making Luke's heart break a little.
"My arm hurts, dad" Leon said and looked at Luke with big blue teary eyes. Luke nodded his head and looked at his son with a sad expression before bringing Leon in for a careful hug. Leon started crying against Luke's shoulder, breaking the father's heart even more.
Luke kept his son close to him as he lifted his head and eyed the young female sitting beside Leon, as she must have been Ms. Hewitt. Luke gave her a small smile, making her return it, before speaking.
"Thanks for bringing him here" Luke spoke quietly as he carefully picked Leon up to sit down on one of the chairs and sat Leon down in his lap.
"Oh, of course," she answered and smiled politely, "He's been amazingly calm and collected. Just a few tears being seen but that's more than understandable"
"Yeah," Luke hummed and ran a hand through Leon's hair, "You don't have to stay"
"I know, I have to get back to the school. I just wanted to make sure he was in safe hands" she spoke and smiled down at Leon.
"Thank you again" Luke said and Leon brought his uninjured hand up and waved at his teacher before she said goodbye and left.
"Which arm hurts?" Luke asked and Leon pointed at the left one.
"Right there" Leon said and pouted as he pointed at his slightly crooked wrist. Luke frowned before dipping his head down and placed a kiss on the top of his son's head.
"Try to keep it still because we'll probably have to wait for a while and we don't want it to hurt too much," Luke spoke and Leon nodded as he gripped his father's thumb with his right hand.
"What happened? How did you hurt it?" Luke asked and wiggled his fingers around to intertwine them with Leon's small ones instead.
"I fell" Leon said and held his father's hand tightly as he turned his head to side, burying his face in Luke's neck.
"How? Where?" Luke asked.
"Me and Oscar had a competition because he said I couldn't climb the tree as high as him. I did climb higher because I was almost at the top, but then the branch broke and I fell really far" Leon mumbled and sniffed.
"What?" Luke said and moved a bit to look down at his son, "How could your teachers let you do that?"
"They said it was okay. Only that we should be careful, but I was careful" Leon answered.
"Are you saying that there were no teachers there with you?" Luke asked and felt anger build up inside of him.
"No, they were inside to drink coffee" Leon spoke and buried his face back into Luke's neck.
Luke frowned and locked his jaw before pulling Leon closer to his chest and leaned down to place yet another kiss on top of his son's head.
He couldn't believe his son had broken his arm just because the adults he had trusted to leave his son with had completely left the 4 year olds alone to take care of themselves.
But Luke kept quiet, not wanting to take out his irritation on his son. He was already sad and Leon wasn't the one doing wrong. He was 4 years old and didn't know much better, especially not when the teachers told him what he did was completely okay.
"There you are!" a familiar voice said, making both Luke and Leon lift their heads up to see Ashton walk over while carrying Peach on his hip.
Ashton crouched down and placed a hand on Leon's cheek before leaning in to press a soft kiss on the small boy's forehead.
"How are you feeling, champ?" he asked and eyed Leon with sad eyes, "Peach told me what happened"
"My arms is hurting and I want it fixed" Leon spoke and Ashton sighed and nodded his head, feeling the pain the toddler was going through only by looking into his eyes.
"I think you were really brave Leon" Peach spoke up and both Luke and Ashton smiled when hearing the small girl talk to her best friend. Her brother, even.
"Thank you" Leon mumbled before burying his face back in Luke's neck. Ashton smiled at the sight and sat down on the seat beside the two Hemmings boys and sat Peach down on his lap.
"Are you feeling alright?" Ashton whispered as he looked at Luke with worried eyes.
"I'm fine, I was just really scared at first. Now I'm just mad because there were no teachers around them whatsoever" Luke sighed and put his head on Ashton's shoulder.
"I know, Peach told me" Ashton said and frowned before kissing Luke's head. Luke lifted his head from Ashton's shoulder and smiled small at his boyfriend before leaning in to press a much needed kiss against his lips.
"We'll scold them for it, no worries. Leon can earn money from this, you know" Ashton said, making Luke chuckle softly.
"Yeah, let's do that" Luke spoke before Ashton planted another sweet kiss on his lips.
"Dad?" Leon asked, making Luke turn his attention back on his son, "Do I have to wear something on my arm now?"
"Yeah, you'll probably have to wear a cast for a few weeks"
"I don't want to" Leon said and pouted grumpily.
"You know what?" Luke said and carefully turned Leon around in his lap, "I talked to Michael and Calum on my way here and they said that it was cool that you'd have a cast"
"Why?" Leon asked and looked at his father with big and curious eyes.
"Do you remember that action figure they showed you a few weeks ago, Iron Man?" Luke asked and Leon nodded his head, "Michael said that if you pick your cast to be red, you'll have the same arm as Iron Man. You know the one he shoots out laser and stuff from?"
"Wow, so you'll be Chicago's own little Iron Man" Ashton said and widened his eyes to make Leon see just how amazing that was.
"Yeah" Leon said and smiled proudly, making Luke's heart warm up at the sight.
"Leon Hemmings?" a male doctor spoke out a few seconds later, making Luke and Ashton stand up with the toddlers in their arms. The doctor smiled warmly and waved them over, greeting them all with handshakes before walking them to a room.
"So this is little Leon, huh?" he asked and smiled at Leon who shyly smiled back.
"Yeah" Leon mumbled, making the doctor chuckle warmly.
"So, what has happened to you, Leon?"
Leon glanced up at both Luke and Ashton before looking back at the doctor, "My dads told me you'd turn my broken arm into Iron Man's"
The doctor raised an eyebrow and smiled big, "Iron Man, huh?" he asked and scooted his chair closer to Leon to carefully examine the broken wrist.
The doctor hummed and looked up at both Luke and Ashton with a warm smile on his face before glancing down to Leon again,
"If your dads told you that, I'll try my very best to turn your arm into Iron Man's"
And the huge grin on Leon's face made the two fathers' eyes sparkle as the thin layer of saltwater that laid over their eyes.
Not because they were sad, but because they were happy, and they were lucky. Lucky to have each other.

The Ancient Tree's Journey
On a planet far away from Earth, an ancient tree lives inside a beautiful forest. When the tree realises that its life is coming to an end, it creates a seed without a soul. The seed begins a long journey, being passed from person to person, until it finally collides with the soul of a girl from Earth and sprouts. With her human knowledge, the girl tries to survive in this world... as a tree. Note: This is my first time writing a novel, so my writing style might be a little rough around the edges sometimes, especially the first twelve are still amateur style. I'll probably rewrite them at some point... later perhaps. Also, the MC will be introduced in chapter 13. The first twelve chapters are more of an introduction to the world, so they bear little significance to the main story. Still, I recommend reading it if you want to get a better view of the world. Chapter releases once every four days.

Legend of the Seven
Humans were cast out of Eden for committing the original sin. Now Seven will answer, should Humanity live forever? But first, join Team Six in their rescue mission turned daring prison break from death. Author's Corner: Welcome to the Legend of the Seven series #LOTSseries, my Guardians. This is my first novel turned webnovel. I'm returning to this fictional world after a 6-year hiatus with a lot of personal growth and insight. Insights gained from being a lifetime reader.I was the kid who read Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. I was the new adult who read I Shall Seal the Heavens and Ark. I've lost count of how many fictional worlds I've visited and lived through for I grew up on western novels but discovered eastern novels in my college years. This is my attempt to marry those two literary styles. It's my hope that this journey becomes more than just a book. If you're reading this simply expecting an ego power trip then turn back. There'll be action but with a lot of metaphysics and discussion on life with its accompanying issues. I strive to ground and make this webnovel relatable with verisimilitude. This webnovel is about choice. Freewill and its consequences. I give my characters autonomy to do and be themselves which sometimes leads to me rewriting and replotting because of pleasant surprises from my characters. Even the character who dies within the chapter they are introduced can have a massive impact with several ripples. So, there'll be stories on love and loss, hope and despair, but most importantly, it'll be a story. Release schedule: M, W, F - I aim for afternoon (1pm to 6pm) MST.
