How am I supposed to prove to Y/n how much I love her?

I thought she knew.

I hate it when she's mad at me. But I have principles. Keeping her safe is the number one priority. 

As much as I want to give into desire, I have to be the rational one, even if that means y/n being upset. I can live with that.

If I can't protect her from myself, how can protect her from anyone, or anything, else?

"You do realize you're talking out loud, right? And I'm not the rational one?"

"You did just awaken Spike, y/n. I'm pretty sure that I'm the smart one here."

Although, I'm sure it was Adam's idea, not her's. 

"It was Adam's idea," She whined, "and can you really blame me? You're like a cardboard box when it comes to affection."

I bristled at that. I was definitely a better boyfriend than some people at our school. 

"I'm not saying that you're a bad boyfriend," She said, knowing exactly where my thoughts had led. "I'm just saying that you're not a cuddly person and that it bothers me sometimes."

I groaned, throwing my head back in frustration. Of course I wanted to be the cuddly boyfriend; I just wasn't comfortable with knowing that Spike was hiding just behind the curtain, ready to take control as soon as I lost any composure. And I hated knowing that he was able to hear, feel, and see everything that I could.

"Look. I have to go, Chase. I have (sport practice/music lesson) tomorrow. I'll text you later."

"Okay," I said, as she walked through the door and left me alone with my thoughts on the couch.
