If things go wrong

Chapter 04 ~ Lego House
Jamie Myers
Scar Patterson has a lot to learn.
Rule Number One: Don't confess your love for someone who obviously doesn't feel the same. It was obvious that Francesca was only in their relationship for the benefit of being able to brag about it. She never actually cared about Scar, which was why it was so easy for her to drag his name through the dirt.
Rule Number Two: Never make deals with the devil. I thought he would have the mental capacity to be able to figure this one out, but obviously not. I wasn't actually planning on reuniting Francesca and Scar. Instead, I'll let him believe that while I go in for the kill because rumor has it, I've been known to turn straight guys gay.
But that's only a rumor.
Even though he was reluctant about it, Scar shook my hand to seal our proposed deal. "Your hands feel great," I commented with an anything-but-comforting grin.
His eyes flickered to mine and for the first time, I was able to see the true color of them. Depending on how you looked at it, Scar's eyes looked either green or blue. But now that I was standing just a few inches away from him, staring into his entrancing eyes, I realized they were a definite pale green with specs of dark blue floating amidst the iridescent color.
As if sensing the awkward tension, his gaze drifted to the floor. "Can you stop?" He snapped rather rudely.
"Stop what?"
Before Scar could respond, the morning bell sounded above us, echoing throughout the halls in two second intervals. Almost immediately, students began to file through the hallways as they searched for their first class of the day.
Scar released a silent sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose in blatant frustration. "Whatever, man." Without even saying a simple goodbye, he brushed past me and became another face in the crowd.
I decided to not dwell over the situation any longer, and dug into my pocket for my box of cigarettes. As I played with the box in my fingers, I squeezed my way through the crowd of students until I pushed through the main doors and collapsed onto the nearest bench.
I stretched my body along the length of the bench and stared up at the clear, blue sky. Unconciously, a pleased smile curved my lips as I pulled out my lighter and lit a cigarette, sticking it into my mouth and taking a long drag.
Suddenly a figure loomed over me, blocking my view of the sky and casting a darkness over me. "You should be learning, you know," he noted with a playful smile.
I sat up abruptly and greeted Max with an equally friendly smile. "Learning what, exactly?" Raising a provocative brow at him, I reached out and grabbed the collar of his shirt, tugging him down to eye level.
Max's deep brown eyes twinkled with amusement and his cute round nose crinkled as he thought about the answer to my question. "I don't know ... Covalent bonds, maybe?"
Max was cute, in a brotherly way. He had the big, brown, doe eyes and kissable pink lips to classify him as a pretty boy. His voice was higher than most boys our age, he had a small build, and he was nice - for the most part.
He had always been bullied for these traits and I took him under my wing to protect him. I agreed that I'd fight off his bullies and somewhere along the road, we became friends with benefits. Our relationship was mostly one sided, because Max had blooming feelings for me that I obviously didn't reciprocate.

But he blows well, so...
I combed my fingers through his soft, loose, dark brown hair. "Covalent bonds, hmm?" I leaned in closer to him so that our lips were merely centimeters apart. "How about we make a covalent bond right now?"
Max's pale face flushed with color. "Not on school grounds, Jamie."
I brushed my lips against his, breathing lustfully. "I need my daily fix, Maxxie." Moving towards his neck, I began to trail kisses down his Adam's apple and occasionally sucked on his skin - which would be sure to leave a hickey later.
Max's hands grabbed onto my long hair as he threw his head back and let out a slight moan. "Why is it that when I want to hook up, you never want to. But when you want to hook up, I bow down instantly," he asked in between moans.
I pulled away for a brief second and smiled at him. "Because you're my bitch." I dove into the crook of his neck again while simultaneously dragging my hands down his arms.
"Jamie," he breathed out in a bare whisper. "Someone's going to see us and you'll get detention again."
I gazed into his eyes and couldn't help the arrogant smirk making its way onto my face. "You know me well enough to know that I don't care about that."
"Yeah, well ... I do!" He exclaimed, wiggling out of my grasp. "I'd love to do some butt stuff with you but I don't want to get a bad reputation."
"Bad boys are hot," I pointed out.
He smiled briefly before putting on his serious face. "Yeah, they are but-"
"Shut up and kiss me." I pressed my lips to his and as soon as I did, he melted into me. His shoulders relaxed and his lips grew soft enough to let me invade his mouth with my tongue.
I interlaced my fingers with his and pressed him down on the bench, straddling him with one knee rubbing against his crotch. He let out a series of moans into my mouth as we continued to kiss each other and we worked our way into each other's pants.
**
After fooling around with Max for hours on end, the last bell of the day rang and I scrambled towards the front doors in a rush to catch up with Scar before he left. I bumped into a plethora of people before I finally arrived at his locker which I took the liberty of memorizing.
I dragged a leg up and folded my arms against my chest while studying the people who passed by. Some sent me dirty looks while others gave me looks of pity. I've never been a people person and the fact that everyone at school knew what team I played for gave them an excuse to treat me differently. I didn't care though, because they were all a bunch of assholes and I was perfectly happy with being myself.
I fixed my posture once I caught a glimpse of Francesca, in all her glory, strutting down the hallway with her long, dark locks falling over her shoulders in seemingly perfect waves. Her rosy lips were stretched into a satisfied grin as she took step after step, knowing that all eyes were on her. Her olive skin glowed under the harsh lights; she was one of those people who looked amazing in any kind of lighting. She was drop dead gorgeous, which was probably why Scar liked her so much.
After all, she was seriously lacking in the personality area.

Her eyes caught my stare and as soon as they did, she flashed me a flirty smile. "Hey, I don't think I've ever talked to you before."
I stifled a laugh. "That's because you haven't."
She titled her head to the side. "You're actually kind of cute." Running a finger along my abdomen, she looked up at me through her intense, dark lashes.
Deciding to play along, I took a daring step closer and spoke in a dangerously low tone. "Honey, you are so barking up the wrong tree right now."
Her gaze hardened. "I saw you talking to Scar earlier. Mind if I asked what that was all about?"
"Why is it any of your business?" I asked with a lifted brow. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you broke it off with him."
She huffed loudly and flipped her hair behind her shoulder. "Scar was the one who said we should break up. I just simply agreed. He's so sensitive sometimes."
My eyes narrowed into thin slits as I studied her. Talking to Francesca made me realize why her and Scar were so compatible. They were both imbeciles alike. "Yeah, it's so horrible that he broke up with you because you were screwing every guy that you laid eyes on. How inconsiderate of him," I spat, sarcasm coating my words.
Francesca flared her nostrils. "Whatever." Tossing her hair over her shoulder yet again, she let out a disapproving huff before sashaying her way through the hallway.
Pressing myself against Scar's locker again, I continued to watch the ongoing sea of people filter through the narrow hallways. It felt like an eternity waiting for Scar to show up, though it must've been only several minutes. There was something about him that made me feel needy and more impatient than usual. Now that I've gotten one foot in, I wanted to claim my prize immediately.
That was what bothered me. I knew Scar didn't like me, at all. So how had I tricked myself into thinking that I could, somehow, develop a relationship with him? He had his eyes set on fixing things with his slut of a girlfriend and maintaining a good standard with the college of his dreams, which was the only reason he enlisted me as an ally.
Otherwise, he would've beat me into a pulp by now.
"Is this going to be a thing now?" Scar's voice announced from the other end of the hallway as he approached me.
I snapped out of my thoughts and stared at him helplessly. "What?"
"You're going to follow me wherever I go," he clarified once he got within arms reach.
My brows shot up, suddenly realizing how creepy I must've came off as. "No, not unless you want me to. I thought we would ... I don't know. We agreed that I'd get you and Francesca back together. I thought you wanted to start right away, or something..."
He adjusted the strap of his gym bag on his shoulder and shook his head in disbelief, scoffing under his breath. "I'm messing with you."
"Oh!" I exclaimed, then tried laughing it off but it didn't hide the embarrassment I felt. "Funny."
He nodded as his pale green eyes flickered to mine. His thick eyebrows raised to their highest point before his gaze narrowed in on my t-shirt. "Is that ... jizz ... on your shirt?"
"Huh?" A dumbfounded look cast on my face as I glanced down at the black fabric, only to see a stain of what must have been leftovers of Max's load earlier. "Oh."
Scar's face paled. "I don't want to know," he said before I could defend myself. "I have to go to the carnival today, but I want to take a shower first. Why don't you come with me and we can discuss what we're going to do at the carnival."
"Come with you?" I questioned, completely shocked at his outrageous proposal.
"Yeah." He fished out his car keys from his pocket and twirled them around his finger. "I'll drive you."
A frown creased my forehead as I crossed my arms over my chest and gave him a skeptical look. "You're only being nice because I'm helping you out."
"Exactly," he agreed with a smug grin. "Now hurry up before I change my mind." He began to walk towards the exit, picking up his pace with every step and leaving me to trail behind helplessly.
The wind kicked up as soon as we exited the building, brushing my long hair back and making Scar's shirt cling against his tight, defined torso. I tried to fight a smile at the thought of seeing Scar shirtless. That would be a breathtaking sight, I was sure of it.
He didn't say a word as we crossed the parking lot and walked to his Jeep and he continued to be silent throughout most of the drive to his house. So I was genuinely surprised when his hands gripped the steering wheel tighter and he attempted to make small talk. "Who is he?"
I shifted my attention away from the window to him. "What?"
He pursed his lips and drummed his fingers against the steering wheel, contemplating what to say. "The boy who, you know, on your shirt."
I found myself laughing uncontrollably at his remark. Clutching my stomach and taking in a deep breaths, I attempted to calm myself down. "Why? Are you getting jealous, Patterson?"
His straight nose crinkled in disgust. "God, no. I'm just curious."
"He's nobody, really."
Scar continued to press the issue. "Obviously not if you guys are so intimate."
"Intimate?" I questioned, holding in a laugh. "You should know better anyone how friends with benefits work."
He glanced over to me, eyes shining with inquiry. "And how would I know that?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe it's because you've slept with more people than you can count on one hand."
His gaze lingered on me for a moment before he returned his eyes to the road. "Right."
I shot him a lopsided grin. "Why all the personal questions? I didn't think you cared about my sex life."
"I don't," he spat. "I'm just trying to make conversation and get a feel for who you are."
I sighed heavily and threw my head back while squeezing my eyes shut. There was something that bothered me about Scar trying to get to know me. If he knew the real me, then he would run away the first chance he got. "Well, I can tell small talk isn't your strong suit so you can stop."
I sunk back into my seat and stared absentmindedly out the window, resting my head on the heel of my hand and sighing once more.

A/N: Can we just take a moment to appreciate Jamie's amazing comebacks? I wrote it and it still gives me chills!
So, what do you think Jamie's real story is?
I'm honestly really excited to embark on this new journey and I think this will be one of my favorite stories that I've written so far. Although it's all fun and games now, there really is a deeper meaning behind this book. I'm aiming to illustrate how love actually develops between two people and hopefully make you laugh in the process.
I'd also like to take a moment to thank you guys for commenting and voting and well, reading. That stuff means a lot to me and it makes me smile like a little kid.
Anyway. I've updated a cast list that kinda is what I'm aiming for a far for the characters. Jamie is played by Jamie Campbell Bower and Scar is played by Max Irons.
Until next time,
Lara <3
