Aubree sat her vanity, staring down at her phone hoping for a response from Chris. Today was Jermaines funeral and she needed him now more than ever. Chris hasn't been seen or heard from in 5 days and everybody is worried. She knows he's still alive because the messages are going through and his phone rings enough times before going to voicemail.
She just wants a response from him.
That nausea feeling rushed over her and tears welled in her eyes. Aubree couldn't believe that she had to say goodbye to her little brother. This all still felt like a nightmare that was just getting worse and worse. All she wanted was to wake up and for everything to be how it was.
A tear fell down her face but she quickly wiped it away. That would be the 20th time Aubree cried since she's been woke and definitely won't be the last. She had a little over an hour to get ready, so she finished up her hair and make up then went and got dressed.
Standing in the mirror Aubree ran her hands over her small baby bump. Four more months and their little boy would be here. That seemed like it was the only good thing going for her. She wasn't even excited for their engagement anymore.
"You look nice." Jeremiah said.
"Thank you." Aubree turned to look at him. "You do too. You finally got on a tie."
"I hate that these are the circumstances but yeah." Jeremiah felt so empty without his brother but has been trying his hardest to be strong. When he took Jermaines outfit up to the funeral home he viewed his brother's body. He sat with his twin for about an hour before he could no longer take it.
He knew he'd have to be strong for his sister today but wasn't sure that he'd be able to.
"We ready, downstairs. You ready?" Jeremiah asked.
"Yes, let's go."
Miah grabbed Aubree's hand and led the way. When they got down there, she was greeted by all of Chris's friends, which caught her by her surprise.
"What are you guys doing here?" Aubree asked.
"We wasn't about to let you do this by yourself. We know Chrez basically went missing and you really need the support so you got all of us." Hoody said.
"You guys really don't want my make up to last huh? Thank you so much."
"You ain't gotta thank us Bree. We family, we got you." Keeis said.
Aubree nodded. "Okay I'm ready."

Miah and Mijo grabbed her hands and led her outside to the car. When she got inside she felt sick again. Ariel climbed in after her and cuddled up against Aubree. Aubree rubbed her daughters face feeling the tears falling down.
Holding on to Ariel tighter Aubree closed her eyes and just prayed for a wave of peace over her family and the people effected by the tragedy.
The ride to the church seemed to take forever but once the car was stopped and parked, it felt like all feeling left Aubree's body. She kept telling herself that she would be okay and she really believed that until they were helping her out the car and she walked closer to the door and saw that open casket.
She stopped in her tracks and wouldn't move. She just started shaking her head no.
"Come on Bree you got this." Mijo said.
"No, take me home."
"Aubree, come on man we got you."
"No, please don't make me go in there I can't do this I can't see him like that." The tears streamed down her face. "Why did they have to kill my brother."
"Aubree please, do this for me." Jeremiah said.
"I can't I can't. I don't want to say goodbye to my babyyyy. I tried so hard to be strong but I just can't do this. Just take me home."
Hands fell on her waist. A touch that was too familiar. Quickly she turned around and faced Chris. She quickly pulled him into her arms. "Chris take me home please."
"Aubree you gotta do this, you'll regret not getting that last goodbye. I'm right here." Chris pulled back and held her face. "I'm right here with you."
"I can't Chris. I don't want to let him go."
"I know you don't but baby you have to. We all got you Aubree."
Aubree held him tight again and just cried hard in his chest. Everybody comforted her, knowing that she had to have this moment.
Once she finally calmed down, they made their way inside. Chris held onto Aubree tight as they walked to the front of the church. He watched as Jeremiah approached his brother with Ariel in his hip. Ariel's cries started to fill the church make Chris's eyes fill up. Even his friends were ready to shed a tear.
Jeremiah walked away to his seat.
Aubree looked down at her brother who didn't even look like himself. Her hand touched his cold face and her heart broke even more.

She just wanted to scream.
"My baby, I'm so sorry I didn't protect you....I love you Maine and I'm going to miss you so much." Aubree leaned down and kissed her brother's cheek. "I love you so much." She whispered again before standing up then going to her seat.
During the funeral Aubree just zoned out. She didn't want to be here anymore. She wanted to lock herself up in her room.
The minute they began to shut that casket, Chris held her tighter because he saw Aubree getting antsy. That scream that she had been holding in erupted, causing Jeremiah to rush to her side and all of the people that cared most about her to cry tears.
Although Aubree didn't birth him, he was her baby. She was always there for the boys as much as she was for her sister. Now Jermaine as gone. She'll always feel emptiness.
She would always be heartbroken.
After the repass we went back to my house. She hasn't really said too much to me. She pretty much ain't said nothing to anybody but I know she really upset with me.
I didn't mean to just up and disappear but I needed to clear my mind. I saw every text message, every call, heard every voicemail. I just had to accept what I did. My dad was evil and my brother wasn't too much different but that still my family. Under all that hate there was still a little tiny bit of love there.
But at the end of the day, I did what needed to be done. I did for Aubree, I did for myself, I did it for everybody. I love my mom to death but I know she'll never understand and at this point I don't care.
Speaking of my mom, she took a flight back to her home town. If she wants to be there for good, that's fine with me.
After putting the girls in bed, I showed Jeremiah to one of the guests rooms. He planned on going back to his house but the last thing he needed was to be by his self. Aubree begged him to come with us and he eventually gave in.
Heading back downstairs, I looked around for Aubree. I couldn't find her until I walked into the kitchen and looked out into the backyard. She sat on the edge of the pool with her feet in.
Grabbing some ice cream, and a spoon I headed out there with her. I sat next to her.
"Want some?" I asked.
She looked over at me. "No thank you."
"Well you gone get some, you barely ate." I took the top off and put the spoon to her mouth. She chuckled and ate the ice cream.
It got quiet again. I just looked at the water and and fed myself.
"Aubree I'm sorry for leaving like that, I just needed to clear my head."
She exhaled. "Okay."
"Everything that went on has just been too much. I didn't want to keep spazzing on everybody because nobody deserved that."
"I understand."
"Baby I know you're upset."
"I'm not Chris. You needed time. A text or a call to say you were okay would've been nice but I get it. Sometimes we just need to get away and take a breather. Lord knows I need that now more than ever."
"I agree.......and that's why I'm taking you to the Bahamas."
Her head quickly turned to me. "What?"
"Yeah, I've been promising you a vacation for the longest so it's time I take you somewhere to relax and enjoy yourself."
"Thank you baby." She leaned over and kissed my cheek.
Grabbing her hand I kissed it. "I love you so much Aubree. I know at times I drive you crazy and I act like I ain't got no sense and I really don't mean to it's just that I ain't never had nobody love me like you have. Man you really have my back. I watched you get rid of murder evidence for me, even back to my first drug test. I knew to never let you get away from me. I can't wait to marry you and get your nerves for the rest of our lives. You are truly a blessing."
"Only you can get me to smile to day." She said while cheesing from ear to ear. "I love you too baby and I can't wait to marry you and give you some more babies and just be the best wife ever to you." She pulled her legs out of the pool and straddled me, wrapping her arms around my neck.
"You want to have a bunch of my bad little babies?" I kissed her neck.
"Mmhm. All of them. Little Apollonia."
We laughed.
Leaning back I rubbed her stomach. "Caiden, I love you boy."
"And he loves you too." She said while making me lay flat on my back. She pulled her dress up.
"Damn you freaky when you mourning too?!"
"Haha, shut up."
I leaned up and kissed her. "I love you."
"I love you too baby."
