Contains a few lyrics from the song -A New Kind Of Love- by Frou Frou
I was currently with the Abbotts watching Marcus's baseball game. My mum left me with them while she looked after my 3 year old sister Cindy at home, she was coming to meet up with me in a minute. I was cheering for Marcus, I always had a big crush on that boy.
He was sweet, caring and overall a nice person, he always protected me. I turned too Lee and said "I'm just going to call my mum, be right back!" He nodded and replied "Don't get lost" i smiled and nodded. I was a little bit worried, i called my mum and got no reply. I decided to leave a voice message instead: "..call me back please" thats all i said before putting my phone away.
As i was about to head back to the baseball game, I realised everyone was running. I was confused but suddenly Evelyn came running up to me, she grabbed my face "are you okay, are you hurt?!" I shook my head with furrowed brows and she sighed in relief before kissing my forehead. She always treated me like her own child. "We have to get out of here" she said before motioning Marcus and i to get in the car.
Lee and Regan headed a different way, im guessing they're going to Lee's truck since there wasn't enough room in Evelyn's car. I sat in the back seat with Beau, the poor boy was scared and confused. I grabbed his hand and calmed him down.
Suddenly, I noticed Marcus reach his hand back and grab mine. I smiled and squeezed it. Then I thought of something... "OH GOD, MY MUM" i undid my seat belt and got out the car, ignoring Marcus and Evelyn screaming my name. I ran and didn't stop, didn't even glimpse back. I finally made it to my house and slowly opened the door and walked in.

Blood trailed across the floor, leading to my front room..I decided to follow it. But I instantly regret doing so. I opened the door to my mum with a whole in her chest, blood seeping out. My breathing started to get heavy, tears ran down my cheeks as i fell to my knees next to her. "You were doing so well.." I whispered as i sobbed. "Y/n" i heard a small voice speak behind me.
I turned to see Cindy, cuddling a teddy close to her chest. I picked her up and held her close. I walked outside with my sister in my arms and spotted Marcus, Evelyn and Beau across the street. I stumbled towards them, everything was blurry since the tears wouldn't stop appearing in my eyes. Marcus ran over and held me in his arms, while kissing my forehead. He then looked at my sister and back at me.
"i'll protect you both" he signed, my sister didn't understand, but i did. My nan was deaf so i learned sign language when i was 7, but I learned more of it when Regan and I became friends. I smiled and butterflies rose in my stomach as he smiled at me. Evelyn then tapped his shoulder and pointed towards the creature. The curly haired boy grabbed my hand and we hid behind a car, his hand was squeezing mine, my sister was crying silently into my chest and i then thought...
This was only the beginning.
