I walk into the grand hallway of my friend's house. The house is filled with fancy looking people. The scent of strong perfume fills my nostrils.
I should have never agreed to come here. I don't fit in.
I look around at the fashionably dressed people with the most expensive accessories donning their bodies.
I look down at my outfit, courtesy of my best friend, which fits in perfectly with the atmosphere.
It looks good on me. It perfectly hugs my body at the right places, showing off my body shape.
"Y/N, why are you standing here alone? Come with me!" My best friend, Tae, says.
"Okay then. Tae, did I really have to come?" I say, still feeling awkward in this alien environment.
"Yes, obviously. It's my birthday. You can't skip my birthday party. Even if it's formal." She says, dragging me through the crowd.
Everyone is looking at us, mainly her, the birthday girl. She is wearing an absolute gorgeous silver gown which show off her slender body.
We give everyone polite smiles as we walk pass them into the grand living room, beautifully decorated with balloons and silver confetti.
"But I don't feel like I belong here. I am sure that I'll embarrass you in front of everyone." I say, giving smiles to all the strangers around me.
"You belong with me, no, don't start singing Taylor Swift's song. You will be alright. No, don't sing EXO's Playboy. Just stick with me. No, don't sing NCT's Touch." She gives my hand a reassuring squeeze while rolling her eyes.
"Can I give you a hug? It helps." I say, like a little baby.
"Aghhh! Okay, fine. Just one side hug." She rolls her eyes and gives me a quick side hug.
"Thank you Jagi." I say, smiling widely at her.

"What did I say about calling me Jagi?" She lifts her eyebrows.
"I am sorry. I meant oppa. Oppppaaaaa!" I whisper. We both start giggling.
Tae's parents suddenly walk into the room and everyone falls quiet. Everyone's attention is captured by them.
They give the whole crowd a polite smile and nod. Her mom starts speaking, "Thank you everyone for attending our daughter's 22nd birthday party. We hope you enjoy your time here."
"Tae, please come forward." Her dad says.
Everyone turns to look at Tae as she gracefully walks to the elevated platform. Her younger brother brings the fancy birthday cake towards her and gives her a hug.
Everyone claps as she cuts the cake and gives it to her family members. They too feed her small pieces of cake.
I secretly giggle, knowing that as soon as everyone is gone she is going to finish that three layered cake in one sitting.
After this, Tae steps down and everyone one clears off the centre forming a circle around her.
Her boyfriend, Taehyung steps out from the crowd and walks towards her. He looks just like a prince in his velvety black suit.
He kisses her hand and whispers something in her ear, which makes her giggle. I am guessing something along the lines of "Couldn't we just have a pizza night? These expectations placed heavily on my shoulders by the society are killing me." With a dramatic sigh to pull the act together.
Tae and Taehyung are the weirdest yet cutest couple you will ever come across. I am one of their biggest shippers.
The ball music starts playing and they slowly sway to the rhythm. They look like a king with his queen in those gorgeous outfits.
I look at them dreamily. One by one young couples join them. They all look like they stepped out of the latest edition of Vogue.

I sigh and head to the drinks section. I take a glass of red wine and slowly start sipping it.
I head to a corner and stand there, admiring the unfamiliar yet fascinating atmosphere of the party.
"Umm. Hey! You're Y/N, right?" A heavenly voice interrupts my train of thoughts.
I look at the strikingly handsome man in front of me.
"Yeah." I say, still lost in his beautiful eyes.
"I'm Park Jimin. We..." He starts speaking.
"We go to the same university. You're quite popular. Everyone around the campus knows you." I say, breaking my gaze and sipping my wine.
"Oh!" He laughs nervously. "We have never actually talked much, right?" He says leaning on the table next to me.
"Yes, I would say so. How did you even know my name?" I ask, surprised that he knew me.
"I have seen a lot of your performances at school. You dance pretty well." He says, looking directly into my eyes.
My heart skips a beat. "Really? I am honoured." I say, giving him a smile so that it isn't awkward.
"Anyway, what are you doing here?" He asks.
"It's my best friend's birthday party. Why wouldn't I be here?" I ask, admiring him.
"No, not that. I meant why are you standing alone over here instead of joining the crowd on the dance floor." He says, shifting his gaze towards the growing crowd on the dance floor, swaying to the slow music.
"Aren't you supposed to do that with your date? I don't have one. What about you? I'm pretty sure girls are lining up behind you to get a chance to dance with you." I say, looking at the crowd.
"My date is a random girl, whose father apparently is associated with mine. Not really my type of ideal date." He says.
"So you ditched her?" I ask.
"Nope. She was all over Jungkook so I just walked away." He says, looking at me again.
"Oohhh! Poor you! Why don't I help you?" I ask, placing my empty glass on the table. "May I have this dance?" I say, extending my right hand and dropping a little courtesy.
"Yes, of course, my lady." He says with a sweet smile as he places his hand in mine.
We walk to the a free spot on the floor and my right hand places itself on his left shoulder while my left hand holds his hand. His left hand goes to a spot on my lower back and we start dancing.
As we move around, I notice many girls staring daggers at us. Jimin notices this.
"You scared of those looks they are giving you?" He smirks. "I am sorry about that."
"Oh no, don't be Mr.Park. I am enjoying the attention." I say, returning the smirk.
He laughs at this. "Y/N, tell me about your family. Which company does your family run?" He asks.
"Umm. My family isn't that rich. We don't own any companies. My parents work at your dad's company." I say, lowering my head.
I brace myself for the judging.
