Q&A's. I've always wanted to go to one but never got the opportunity to go. Now, I get to fulfill my dreams. I was sitting in the far back of the crowd of girls, none of them noticing who I was. I was grateful for this because I wanted to watch in peace.
Shawn came into the room, waving at everyone, and the girls were screaming. I was expecting this and screamed along with them because I wanted to live the fullest experience. Shawn looked at the group of people, making eye contact with me, and smiled.
The Q&A started and people were asking him questions about new songs, what he likes to do, his favorite things. It was about eight questions in when I was mentioned.
A girl with black hair asked, "How often do you see your girlfriend, Alana?"
Shawn's eyes lit up as she asked this question. "Funny of you to ask that" He pointed at me. "She's right there" I watched as all the girls turned around and looked at me. I looked at Shawn, a big grin on his face. He motioned me to go up and sit next to him. So, I got up from my spot and sat next to Shawn on the sturdy boxes. He put his arm around my waist and the crowd started screaming again.
Once it died down, Shawn spoke. "To answer your question, we see each other pretty often. I'd average it to about at least a couple of times a month" He looked at me for clarification and I nodded.
Some girls raised her hand and Shawn picked one with the prettiest pastel purple hair. "This one is actually for Alana"
I smiled and nodded, waiting for the question. " Before I begin, I just wanted to mention that I love your style"
"Thank you" I said, cheerfully. I was wearing a button up Hawaiian dad type shirt, tucked into a pair of mom jeans.
She then proceeded with her question. "How has your life changed since you started dating Shawn?"
I looked at her, then to Shawn, thinking about the question for a bit. "I think. My life has definitely changed significantly but in the best way possible" I looked at Shawn as he looked back.

"Would it be okay if I told you guys the story of how we met? I feel like it ties in with the question"
The girls in the room nodded their heads, and immediately agreed. I then began to tell them the story.
"Okay. So it kinda started out like this. Well, not like this because I wasn't as cool and didn't get to go to the Q&A but it was at one of Shawn's concerts in California. I've been obsessed with him and his music for about a year at that point and it was my first time going to a concert. Luckily, I was able to sit in the floor area so when he was singing Ruin, he went up to my row and we exchanged looks at each other"
Shawn interjected. "The prettiest smile I've ever seen"
I smiled, continuing. "At the time, I was freaking out inside but I didn't think too much of it because obviously, he's Shawn Mendes and I'm just a fan. Well, here's the twist. I was stupid and forgot my phone at my seat. I went back into the arena and Shawn was sitting on the stage, holding my phone. We talked for like five minutes then exchanged numbers. If I didn't forget my phone, I probably wouldn't be with him right now and it's crazy to imagine what it'd be like without him. I don't want you guys to think I'm exaggerating, but when I say he has my whole heart, he has my whole heart"
The crowd said 'awwww' and I spoke up and said, "Now that I think about it, that had nothing to do with the question and I am incredibly sorry for getting sidetracked" The girls laughed and the Q&A went on.
I was sitting right next to the stairs of the B Stage and Shawn just finished singing 'When You're Ready'. Every single time he sings that song, something hits me in my heart and tears were now streaming down my face. I watched as Shawn was handed the blue guitar I got him and two stools were put near each other. Shawn sat on one and looked at me. Putting his microphone onto the stand, Shawn began to speak. "Hey guys. So, usually I perform 'Like To Be You' by myself and with an acoustic guitar. Well, today we're doing something different. I've never really properly introduced the world to my girlfriend, Alana. Would it be okay if I did so today?"

The crowd went wild and Shawn put the microphone away from his mouth, motioning for me to come up. Jake guided me to the stairs of the stage and I climbed up, taking everything in. I sat on the stool next to Shawn. I looked at him in amazement. "You want me to sing with you?" I yelled, as a man handed me a microphone and an earpiece thing.
"Of course honey. Unless, you don't want to"
"Of course I want to! I'm honored. And I like the choice of guitar"
He smiled at me and began to speak in the microphone. "Alright guys. Alana has agreed to sing "Like to Be You" with me so please give her a warm welcome"
The crowd started cheering and I looked at them in amazement. You couldn't see everyone's face clearly but you could see the lights from their LED bracelets. It was like looking at the sky and seeing an abundance of stars. "Hi everyone! You guys are all beautiful"
Shawn reached for my hand, giving it a squeeze, then began the song. "Don't cry or do. Whatever makes you comfortable I'm tired too" He occasionally glanced at me whilst singing.
I watched him in awe as the crowd sang along with him. The feeling of being up there with him was exhilarating, no wonder why he loves doing it so much. It was now my turn in the song. I brought the microphone up near my mouth and sang "Can I kiss you or not, cause I'm not really sure right now of what you want"
While I was singing, the crowd was screaming and singing along. It was absolutely amazing and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to do it.
Shawn and I were in an Uber, going out to get dinner. We tipped the driver, then walked a couple of feet to the restaurant. I looked at the neon sign then at Shawn.
"Ramen?" I grinned.
"We're only in Japan once in a while. I knew you'd want to try some authentic ramen"
We walked inside and were seated at a booth near the front window.
Shawn grabbed my hand from across the table, squeezing it. "You did amazing tonight honey"
I squeezed back. "As did you. I wasn't expecting you you call me up there but I'm glad you did. No wonder why you love touring so much"
Shawn was about to respond but got interrupted when a boy, looking about 16 or 17 with brown hair, came up to our table.
"Hi!" He said, nervously. "May I take a picture with you two?"
Shawn instantly got up, "Sure thing!"
"Me too?" I asked, surprised.
"Yeah!" The boy said. After his mom took the picture, Shawn and I sat down and the boy said, "I went to the concert tonight. You two sounded amazing together in 'Like to Be You'."
I grinned. "Thank you!" Then the boy went to sit down at his table.
Shawn looked at me, eyes bright. "Before I got interrupted, I was going to tell you that your voice sounded perfect and professional but it looks like someone already said it for me"
Shawn and I were back at the hotel room, packing for the next destination, Paris. We were going to be leaving on the plane tomorrow morning. Shawn finished packing before I did and went on his phone. After a couple minutes of pure silence, Shawn called me from the table near the window.
"Honeyyyyy"
I looked over at him. "Come here" He motioned his hand for me to go to him. I went over, sitting down on his lap since there was only one chair. He rested his chin on my shoulder and played a video on Instagram. It was the both of us singing at the concert tonight.
Shawn spoke up. "We sound pretty good together, eh?"
I grinned, turning my head to look at him. "We sure do"
He looked from my eyes to my lips, leaning in. It was a short but passionate kiss. We pulled away. "I love having you here with me" He said.
"I love being here with you"

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
