《Whodunnit ?》Chapter 3 - The 'Killer' Ball

After several hours hanging out in the great room. The thirteen guests decided to retire to their rooms, to prepare for the night ahead.
Brianna wore a simple one piece dress suit which dropped just below her knees. Talia wore a similar one piece dress suit but this one dropped way above her knees, almost showing off to much skin. The rest of the female guests wore dresses that dropped to the floor. Some sparkly, some silky.
Each of the male guests wore tuxedos, blue, black and navy. Except for Justin, who wore simple denim jeans with a smart looking button up shirt.
As the first group of guests (Hannah, Reynold, Michelle, Jamie, Justin, Natalie, Nelson & Brianna) made their way to the great room, they realised that all of the furniture had been moved to very far sides of the room. And a massive dance floor had been placed in the center of the room. The great room was poorly lit to put the effect of the ball.
"Oh! It's a dance party." Natalie cheered, she the first one down the stairs to the great room.
"I can't dance." Michelle chuckled to Nelson.
"Don't worry I can teach you " Nelson responded, helping Michelle down the stairs in her high heels.
"I wonder where that Giles person is?" Reynold asked, peering around the great room to see if Giles was pondering somewhere.
"Who cares? Let's dance!" Natalie took Reynold by the hand and took him to the dance floor.
As Natalie and Reynold danced surprisingly well together, the last two groups of guests, The first being of Alec & Talia. And the second being Greg, Courtney & Dan (several minutes later) arrived at the great room.
After the guests danced for a few moments music finally started blaring into the manor. And Giles with two short, pale women followed each other into the great room.
"My dear guests. I am glad to see that you all dressed for the occasion of the night. May I introduce the two maids of this manor. Sophie & May." Giles pointed to each maid.
"Now for what entails for tonight." Giles started to explain. "There will be a Rue Manor 'Ball' tonight. With the finest music of today playing till sunrise. Beverages and snacks will be also be served." Giles smirked to the guests.
"By beverages do you mean Alcohol?" Justin asked Giles, desperate to get some more alcohol in his system before the day was over.
"Yes Mr. Ells, alcohol will be available." Giles confirmed Justin's question. Much to the excitement of the other guests as well.
"You can party till the sun rises but for now I most go. Guests, please do enjoy your 'ball'."

"No Giles you should stay!" Dan protested for Giles to stay in the great room.
Giles scrunched up his face, wondering if he should stay in the room. He knew the first murder would happen at the party, he just didn't know when.
"C'mon you've gotta show us your moves, Giles." Talia chuckled.
"Giles! Stay with us." Jamie tried to convince the butler.
"Oh god alright I'll stay then." Giles gave into the guest's requests and be started dancing with everybody.
After Giles took several of the female guests to a solo dance. Sophie & May appeared into the great room with a tray each of drinks.
"Cidre for the guests." Sophie loudly whispered into Giles's ear. So that he could hear her over the loud party music.
Sophie gave Giles a look, knowing what this mean he quickly let go of Brianna's hand and excused himself from the great room.
"Guests. It seems that I have miss placed my digital camera for the annual Rue manor photo. I'll be back soon."

While Giles bought some time to himself before the murder tonight. Alec & Reynold bonded.
"This Cidre is good!" Alec nodded at the red cup, admiring the taste of the beverage.
"I agree, kind of makes me want to have another one." Reynold agreed with Alec.
Meanwhile, Talia & Michelle were having some classic GT (Girl Talk)
"Can't wait for the picture, do I look fat, though?" Talia asked, looking at her figure in the great room mirror which was at the foot of the stairs against a wall.
"What? No way! You're a skinny Minnie." Michelle reassured Talia. Now checking herself out in the mirror alongside Talia. (Lol Leah don't worry, I wanted to kill 2016 me too)
At the other side of the dance floor. Courtney, Justin, Dan & Greg were talking about the other guests and Giles.
"That Giles seems way too sketchy for my liking, " Courtney said to the group.
"Yeah there's something wrong with that guy." Dan laughed, taking a sip of his Cidre.
"I think he seems cool, he has such a weird accent, though." Justin whined, then took his first sip of the Cidre from his cup.
"Alright everyone the slow dance is starting. So pick a partner and get dancing." May, the maid announced to the guests.
Everyone chose a partner for the dance and they started dancing.
After only a few moments of dancing the lights of Rue Manor cut.
Some guests screamed and jumped due to the random shortage of power.
But one guest was not nervous at all. As he or she had just made their first kill.
For a moment when all the lights turned on everything was normal until the group realized a guest was not standing. But laying on the floor.

It took a few moments to realize it was Justin, laying on the floor, face up and dead.
All the guests let out a loud scream.
"What the fuck!" Jamie shouted, making his way closer to Justin's body.
"Is he dead?" Talia screamed, clinging onto her dress in fear.
Giles quickly rushed into the room to see the commotion the other guests were making.
"Giles..." Natalie cried, pointing to Justin's body on the floor.
"What the hell is going on here!" Alec threatened Giles.
"The game has begun," Giles said in a cold tone.
"What !?" Reynold gasped.
"This is a joke, right? Tell me this is a joke!." Greg stuttered, baffled by everything that was happening.
"Ladies and gentleman, I will explain everything with great hast. Follow me into the parlour." Giles tried to convince the other guests but they weren't impressed.
"No ! We're not going anywhere. What do you mean by the 'game'." Courtney growled at Giles, sending him a threatening look.
"This area is not secure, please!." Giles demanded the other guests, already guiding Sophie & May into the parlor.
A few seconds later all the other guests jogged into the parlor.
"My dear guests, I am afraid the death of Mr. Ells was no accident ... "
Alec rose his eyebrows in surprise.
"It was in fact murder," Giles said the line he had been dreading to say since this morning.
All of the guests shared a collective gasp of shock.
"This is impossible." Nelson shook his head in disgust.
"What is happening?" Michelle's uncontrollable tears stained the carpet.
"And the killer is among you, who has asked me to speak on his or hers behalf. " Giles stated.
Greg collapsed his hands into his face.
"This note was slipped under my butlers quarters this morning."
" Dear Mortals, you've all been personally selected to participate in my diabolical game of life and death - "
"What! This is illegal " Courtney screamed at Giles.
Giles continued reading the note. "Your job? Stay alive long enough to figure out who I am. You can only do that by being the best at solving the crimes I put before you. Fail and you might be the next to die. I had to make an example of Justin because he showed his incompetence by being a proud unemployed man -"
The twelve guests all gasped again in shock, dumbfounded that the killer among them would kill Justin because of him having no occupation.
Giles brushed off the gasps and continued reading. "Do you really think an unemployed couch potato was really going to become a worthy adversary?"
Brianna furrowed her eyebrows together, enraged.
"As for the rest of you, the living. Here are the rules. Following each murder, I will grant you the access to investigate one and only one of the following areas. The crime scene, the victim's last known whereabouts, and the morgue. Where the victim's body will lay."
"I feel sick," Dan muttered to the group.
"Please take a moment to decide what location you'd like to investigate. Give careful consideration to your choice. Take a look around ..."
The group all start to eye up another suspiciously.
"The killer, I'm afraid is among us." Giles states before walking out of the parlor to give the guests some time to decide their chosen location.
"I can't believe this." Reynold breathed.
"I'm getting out of here." Hannah announced, making her way out of the parlor and towards the front doors.
"Me too." Nelson agreed with Hannah and followed her out.
"Miss Taylor and Mr. Grey, I'm afraid you can not leave the manor. The killer's orders state that the gates are rigged. If anyone tampers with them a high voltage surge will kill them instantly." Giles interrupts Hannah & Nelson, lurking in the great room.
"Please make your way back into the parlor." Giles points Hannah & Nelson back into the parlor, were
the other ten guests started discussing what areas to investigate.
"I guess I wanna see his body." Natalie pointed out, shrugging her shoulders in defeat.
"I wanna see what happened in the great room," Greg said, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"I didn't get to look at the body, I wanna go to the morgue," Dan said.
A few moments later Giles returned.
"I trust you have all made your decisions" Giles announced.
The guests all nod, having all agreed on an area to investigate.
"Who would like to investigate the scene of the crime?" Giles asked.
Simultaneously Jamie, Reynold, Nelson, Talia & Hannah rose their hands.
"Sophie will escort you to the crime scene" Giles motioned for the group of five to follow the maid.
"Who would like to investigate Justin's last known whereabouts. His bedroom ?."
Greg, Courtney & Brianna rose their hands and followed May up the stairs to Justin's room.
"Alec, Michelle, Dan & Natalie please follow me to the morgue." Giles said, monotone before turning his back to the guests to start walking to the morgue which was downstairs.
As the guests followed Giles they soon realized they had got in a terrible situation. And the only way to get through it is to stay alive.

A New Leaf
When people mention fantasy games and RPGs, they usually think of goblins, elves, orcs, dwarves and magic (apart from the percentage that gets an image of an anti-tank weapon in their mind, I will respectfully put those individuals aside for now). But what if you get neither of those (not even the weapon, I know, sad)? And what if you end up playing as something that doesn't look like an animal at all? And what if the said game you were playing weren't actually a game, but real life changed by irresponsible, beyond-mortal beings? Follow the (mis)adventures of "player" 13241, a.k.a. Treant, as he experiences what it's like to be a walking magical fruit maker (among other things). When the world goes to hell and back, plants are the ones that remain, right?
