《Whodunnit ?》Chapter 4 - The Investigating Begins

Sophie the maid guided Reynold, Talia, Jamie, Hannah & Nelson into the great room. Nothing seemed out of place or out of the ordinary except for the medium sized blood spot in the middle of the dance floor. Which obviously belonged to Justin.
"What even caused this blood spot?" Jamie asked.
"Did anyone get an actual good look at the body?" Nelson asked the other four investigating the crime scene.
"No." Hannah shook her head.
"It happened so quick I didn't even get a good glance." Talia shook her head and started to look around the blood spot where Justin had laid.
"There has to be more here than a blood spot." Reynold shook his head in confusion.
"Who would be so pissed that Justin was unemployed so much that he had to be killed?" Hannah queried to the group.
"I can't believe there is a killer among us." Jamie announced to the group.
After a few minutes, the group had found nothing, the five had even rolled up the dance floor and there was nothing out of place.
That was until Talia looked at the carefully sculpted wooden draws which had a tiny blood splatter on the top draw.
"Has anyone looked over here yet?" Talia asked the group, pointing to the wooden draws which were about seven foot from the blood spot on the dance floor.
"No, why?" Nelson asked, walking over to the dancer.
"I think this could be significant." Talia nodded confidently at the wooden draws.
"Have you looked in them?" Jamie asked, now also walking over to the others as Hannah & Reynold examined the pottery.
Talia started examining each draw with an extremely precise eye for detail. It wasn't until she, Nelson & Jamie saw what was in the fourth and last draw that they finally found, what they thought was the murder weapon.
The three gasped loudly as they saw the contents of the draw, Hannah & Reynold rushed over to the other three after hearing the gasps.
"That's a mace right?" Reynold asked the group.
Reynold was, in fact, correct, a long black mace (with blood drops present on the spikes). Laid alone in the draw,
making a small pool of blood itself from being in the draw since Justin was murdered.
"So that's what killed him!" Hannah announced to the group, feeling confident that she had solved the crime.
"Wait a minute this makes no sense!" Talia exclaimed, furrowing her eyebrows at the mace in the draw.
"This couldn't have been what killed him." Talia elaborated. "Yeah, I think Talia's right. The blood of pool is not big enough to have killed him." Nelson nodded.

"So then what did?" Was all Jamie got to say before the estate bell rang, signifying that the investigation period was over.
"Good looking their kid." Reynold patted Talia on the shoulder. Knowing that without the find by Talia the group would have got nothing from the crime scene.
May stopped outside Justin's room. Inviting Greg, Courtney & Brianna to let themselves in.
"Ok let's investigate." Courtney mumbled, being the last one through the door.
"Looks like there's nothing significant at first glance," Greg said, confused at what exactly he had to be looking for.
"His bed sheets are a bit ruffled but that's all I can see." Brianna shakes her head. Knowing there had to be more to the story in Justin's room.
"There's nothing here!" Greg exclaimed to Courtney, who was furiously pulling the luggage out of his case.
"There has to be something. They wouldn't have offered us this location if there was nothing to use." Courtney replied back to Greg bitterly, obviously wanting to stay alive in the game.
Courtney continued searching through Justin's clothes, Greg disappeared into the en suite and Brianna looked through Justin's bed and bedside table for clues. Until one of them found something.
"Guys I think I found something !" Brianna announced loudly to the group, mostly so Greg could hear her from the en suite, but also because she was proud of herself for finding something important in the investigating process.
Brianna waited for Greg & Courtney to return from their previous areas of inspection before continuing. Brianna found a note and also a tiny case on Justin's bedside table. The note read.
You'd look great in these at the ball.
:)
"I don't think that's significant." Greg shook his head at Brianna.
"How is it not? None of us have these notes in our rooms. The killer left this message!" Brianna tried to convince Greg.
"I agree with Brianna, this has to be the killer!" Courtney supported Brianna's side of the disagreement.
"Well if this is the killer. He wanted Justin to wear something, but what?" Greg considered for the first time that the note could actually be from the killer.
"I don't know the case is empty." Brianna laced her fingers over the violet silk material inside.
"Well guessing by these two empty holes here, I'd say those are earrings," Courtney explained, pointing to the two empty holes in the case.
"Why would the killer want Justin to wear earnings, though?." Greg asked. Confused on how that would help the killer.

"I don't know." Brianna sighed.
"There obviously has to be something else at the other scenes that link to this note." Courtney nods, understanding that she was going to have to get information from other people to help her understand how Justin was murdered.
The estate bell rang, signaling that the time to investigate was over. Courtney, Greg & Brianna quickly filed out of Justin's room.
"Remember you only have a few minutes to investigate Justin's body. So I'd look carefully for clues." Giles reminded Dan, Natalie, Michelle & Alec as they stepped into the cold morgue.
The morgue was laid out spaciously. With equipment to use on bodies on a tray on the left side of the room, the main morgue bed (which held Justin) in the middle of the room. And bags of evidence on the right side of the room.
Justin's body laid on the morgue table. Justin was only covered by a white sheet, which was covered over his naked body.
"This is disgusting," Natalie whined, taking her first glance at Justin's body.
"Well we need to look for clues so we can stay alive, so snap out of it." Alec hissed at Natalie. Frustrated at how the younger girl was reacting.
"There's a little pool of blood here." Michelle pointed to a pool of blood which was overflowing to the floor from Justin's lower right leg.
"That looks crucial. Let's turn him over." Dan called to the group. After the little effort, the four turned over Justin's lifeless body.
The four gasped loudly and backed away from the body after what they witnessed.
"How did that happen?" Natalie gasped. Justin had about eight or nine deep holes in his leg, which were all still slightly bleeding from the severity of them.
"I don't even know what kind of weapon makes that mark," Dan said, confused about the weirdly shaped holes in his leg.
"As much as this is significant, do you think that's what really killed him?" Michelle queries to the group.
"Maybe" Dan shrugged. "I mean the cuts are pretty deep."
Suddenly Dan noticed a white liquid, frothing from Justin's mouth.
"Wait, guys, what is that!" Dan exclaimed to Natalie, Alec & Michelle. Who were all still investigating and poking at Justin's leg.
"Ew!" Michelle whined.
"What the hell !" Alec made a face of pure confusion.
"How did that get here?" Michelle scooped up a bit of the white liquid out of Justin's mouth. Noticing it was bubbling quite ferociously.
Suddenly the morgue light flickered. Alec, Dan & Natalie thought nothing of it but Michelle saw something.
"Turn the light the backoff!" Michelle demanded to Natalie, who was the closest the light switch.
"Why?" Natalie asked. Dumbfounded at why Michelle was slightly freaking out.
"Just do it!" Michelle yelled at Natalie.
"Ok geez," Natalie turned and flicked off the morgue light.
Two neon lights glowed in the pitch black room.
"You guys see that?" Alec asked.
"It looks like that lights coming from his earrings right?" Natalie titled her head to the side.
"Yeah." Michelle agreed.
"But why are they glowing? Does anyone else find that strange?" Alec asked the others.
"Maybe the killer convinced Justin to wear them so the killer could see where Justin was when the lights went out!" Dan concluded his theories.
"Oh ! I didn't think of that." Natalie gawks to Dan, almost in a trance of how he was coming up with these conclusions of how Justin got those earrings.
"We're going to look like idiots if these are just earrings." Michelle giggles slightly.
"But they are just plain ugly, why would anyone wear those?" Alec examined the earrings closer. "The killer had to of made him wear these."
Just as Alec concluded his theory the estate bell rang and time was up. The group of four seemed confident leaving the morgue about the earrings and the wounds on Justin's leg. But at the same time baffled by the white frothing coming from his mouth.

The guests all gathered in the great room, it was now pitch black outside and knowing a killer was present was only making the night eerier.
The dance floor had been removed and the couches were back in their normal places.
"Ladies & Gentleman, I know that you all might be eager to share what you found at your respectful areas. But you now must all now rest. As tomorrow will be a tough day. Goodnight guests." Giles greeted goodnight to the guests before disappearing out of the great room.
The guests who were all still dressed up for the ball made their way up the staircase and into their rooms. Finding it incredibly hard to sleep, knowing that the killer could be in the very room next door !.
However, the killer could sleep easy. And was already making assumptions for the game ahead.
