《Whodunnit ?》Chapter 26 - The Penultimate Dinner

The dinner was in the dining room like normal today (not like last night when it was out on the pool's patio.) The guests were relieved to realise that they had takeaway pizza today for dinner, a nice touch of what home was really like for the guests.
"Can you pass the pepperoni?" Michelle asked for the Olympian, Brianna. To pass the pepperoni pizza from her side of the table.
Brianna gave Michelle a little shady glare before passing the pizza box to the redhead.
"Thanks," Michelle replied in a sarcastic voice.
"Girls lets not argue," Dan commented. "It's gonna be one of our last nights here and I don't think whoever it's gonna be, would want it to be filled with arguments."
"Dan's right." Nelson agreed with the footballer as he stuffed his face with the chili pizza.
"Sorry lover boy." Michelle chuckled sarcastically. Thinking of the new nickname for the forty year old who necked on with Brianna in the pool only hours ago.
"You know what. You are really fucking annoy-"
Nelson's anger was cut off by Giles entering the dining room. With the Rue Manor cards, tightly gripped in his grasp.
"May I have your attention, please? It seems that one guest has done the best in trying to figure out how Mr. Lloyd was murdered..."
"Michelle! Congratulations you are spared for tonight."
Reynold was pretty surprised to say the least. Yes he had shared all the information with Michelle, but he suspected to have the best case. He found that suspicious.
"As for the rest of you. Your fate is now free falling, just like Jamie's body this morning." All of the guests scoffed at the sick pun by the killer.
"By following Jamie's movements for the times that we have been in Rue Manor. I realised that the carpenter often liked to get a late night snack before heading off to bed here at Rue Manor, using that to my advantage I set my trap. By stepping onto the placemat at the top of the kitchen fridge freezer, the fridge door was automatically swung open by a trigger which was placed on the back of the placemat. It was in the fridge to Jamie met his demise. Hidden in the fridge, was a recently sharpened harpoon which had a motion sensor above it. With any type of movement in front of it, it would fire at an alarming speed. Upon making eye contact with the harpoon, it quickly shot. And hit Jamie dead on in the heart. Piercing it. Jamie couldn't scream for help as gallons and gallons of blood was being sprayed around the kitchen in different directions (thanks to the shot by the harpoon). A few hours after I originally heard the harpoon go off and I knew for sure Jamie was dead, I snuck into the kitchen. And carried him up the ladder way which was above the fridge in a secret compartment in the ceiling. The ladder then led me and the dead Jamie to the roof. Where I stored him in the chiller overnight, sending his body temperatures below 0 degrees. The next morning, when hot air was released through the body sized hole. Jamie's body was easily fed through and fell several feet onto the pools patio. Yours cruelly, your killer."

Michelle & Reynold both gave confident nods, whereas Dan, Nelson & Brianna looked on in an uncomfortable tension.
"I will now pass out the cards." Giles said as he rotated around the table. Making sure to give a card each to the other four guests.
Giles then returned to his normal position.
"Dan?"
The other four guests all looked at Dan with nervous looks. They knew that if Dan got a scared card that there was a better chance of him dying because he had been scared two times before. And the killer would most likely not tolerate that.
"I just wanna say before I open my card... I think I've played a good game. I'm the last guy standing in my alliance as well." Dan gave himself a little prep speech before he slowly revealed his card.
He was
Brianna took a tiny sigh. Mixed with relief and also agony, knowing how the footballer must have be feeling at that point; being scared three times in a row.
"Reynold?"
Reynold quickly revealed a card, surprising literally no one on the table.
"That leaves two..." Giles said as the room fell deadly silent.
All eyes were on Nelson & Brianna at this point.
"Nelson?"
Nelson tried to hold back the nerves as his shaking hand reached for the card. He really honestly didn't want to open the thing but he knew he had too.
He put on a brave face as he pulled out a card.
Brianna sounded obviously upset "I'm sorry." She whispered.
"It's okay," Nelson gave a small smile back. Sounding as if he was on the verge of being sick.
"Brianna, you are last tonight."
"It's alright you've got this." Nelson tried to convince the Olympian.
"How do we not know it's gonna be another three people scared." Brianna worried herself before she even opened her card.

The room fell into another silence as Brianna reached into her envelope. Pulling out her card she was... .
The twenty four breathed a massive sigh of relief before resting her card down and looking apologetic at Nelson & Dan.
"It would seem that Mr Grey or Mr Greash will be our next victim. Please do get some sleep my guests." With that, Giles went to go leave the room.
However he abruptly stopped to remind the guests.
"Remember, that this will be your penultimate dinner here at Rue Manor. The game is slowly coming to an end.
"Three of you will be killed"
"One of you will win and leave with your life."
"And one of you is the feared killer."
The guests all looked around at each other. There was no doubt about it, one of them was the killer. And they were going to strike, three more times.

Note: Slight edits to early chapters (and removal of one chapter - previously chapter 2) have been made 2/2/21 The city, my city, had once been alive in a way that was hard to describe. Thriving, active, hopeful. Vibrant. But life, as I had come to learn, sometimes possesses only the most tenuous of grasps. Finally, in the end, it became my city - mine alone. I was, after all, the only one left. Worse, it was entirely my fault. There was red in my ledger that could never be wiped clean. Not while I still lived, anyway. This story follows Eran, a man who became the opposite of everything he had ever wanted to be; in a world where superpowers began to appear in a rare few, his lack of control over his own power relegated him to the role of a terrible villain - the Reaper, named so for the countless lives that he absorbed and made his own, each only furthering his deadly lack of control. Gone mad with guilt and isolation, he strove for a single heroic act - his own demise. Death was less permanent than he hoped. Centuries later, he woke to a changed world and in a body not his own. Unfortunately, his power came with him. Yet this time, things would be different. This time, he had a chance to bring it under control. He could never truly make up for the things he had done; he could never achieve redemption. That wouldn't stop him from trying to be a hero. Little did he know that Voldemort wasn’t the biggest threat he would have to face. Receiving power from unexpected sources and armed with Information he didn’t expect to have, Harry sets out on a mission to bring the dark lord and his followers down and uncover one of the world’s least known secrets. ============ This novel has been posted on Webnovel, Scribblehub, Fanfiction & RoyalRoad. This story was supposed to be a rewrite of my earlier book, Harry Potter and the Dark Phoenix but the plot ended up so different that I figured I’d just make a new book out of it. I might, at some point in the future, rewrite the earlier book with the earlier plot but that will have to wait for this one to finish. This is an AU so please keep that in mind. Constructive criticism is welcome, needless bashing is not.
