There are so many things that I have to tell you, but I do not have much time left to do so, I read from a letter. One, I love you and your mother very much, Joes. Never forget that I do.
Ya, right. If you did love us, then you wouldn't have left, I thought, bitterly, as I pushed my long, auburn hair out of my face. I sighed and shook my head, before I continued to read the letter from my father had left for me before he had left mysteriously.
Two, you're in grave danger. You have no idea how much danger you are in, and I regret it now for not telling you. However, you didn't want to hear about anything it then, nor did you want to hear about anything it now. For that, I'm sorry that I listened to your mother. You had the right to know, because it has to deal with you. It had to deal with you for almost seventeen years, because it happened even before the day you were born.
Three, It is because of your mark that you are in danger. I have known about the mark and it's powers. Yet, again, you did not want me to say anything to you about what or who I am. So, I did not.
I know that you don't want to hear this, but it is about our past, mine especially-
I snorted and looked up from the letter. He was right, I did not want to hear about our, more likely his, past.
I knew that I was different. Hell, I knew that all of us was different from each other in one way or another. We looked different, talked different, and smelt different. There were some that stunk really bad, even if they had taken a shower.

Me, I was the loner of the school. No one wanted to hang around the "poor kid". I didn't have the fancy gadgets that they did, so they, my peers, taunted me and such.
I shook my head and looked out into the night, wondering why the hell this had happened. I didn't need anymore crap in my life. I had school, where people brought me down. I had home, where I was basically ignored. And, I had to find a job, so that I could pay for some of my stuff.
How this had happened might be in the letter, if you stop placing it down. It is annoying when you are doing that, a voice in my head said. I snorted and shook my head. I had no idea how it came into my head, but it's been there for a long time, and I don't think it is ever going to leave me alone. Aw, love you too, 'it' said. I'm going to call it 'Voice' from now on, because it was an unseen voice in my head. I grunted a little and looked down at the note, again.
I can't tell you all of it. It might make you be in a very dangerous position, even though you are already in grave danger.
I had to leave. I had to leave to keep you safe, as well as your mother. I know that you don't think that it was the best idea, but it was the best idea in this situation. They would've found you by now, if I hadn't left.
Go to Hillings Pub and find a man named Michael Ham. Tell him it's time. He'll be expecting you.
Danger lurks in the dark. It always lurks in the dark for you. So, don't go outside when it's dark. Promise me...

"That's it?!" I said, looking at the paper. "What do I have to promise you, Dad? What do I have to do?" I sighed and threw the sheet of paper onto the floor, before pulling my legs close to my body. I turned my attention out to the window, my thoughts going wild. "What are you trying to tell me, Dad?" I asked, looking at the moon, hoping that he would be talking to me on the other side. "What does all of this have to do with my mark?"
I waited, but no answers came. The moon stayed silent, and there was no movement on the ground, or in the woods. I sighed again for like the upteenth time, before I lookd at my clock on my bedside table. It was midnight, meaning bedtime.
"Bed time," I muttered, as I got off my window seat and getting into bed. I tucked the covers of my bed around me, into a protective cocoon and fell asleep, hoping that I wouldn't have a nightmare. However, I knew that wasn't the case, because I usually get them.
