I waited for her to say something. I glanced around the room and saw that they were staring intently at me and Lasi. Finally, I looked at her, frowning slightly. "What is it?" I asked nervously, not knowing if I should hear this or not.
"Your father is a Seer, meaning he knows magic. Each Seer has an animal guide. They are called Guides. Your mark isn't something that we haven't seen in a long time."
"Meaning...?"
"You are the Director. You are more powerful than any other Seer. You, especially, are in danger to the Darks," Michael added.
"Darks? Do you mean those shadow type creatures?"
He nodded. "The name that us Seers call them is Lana Li Ho," he said.
My face paled, knowing what it meant. The wolf that who found me, told me that and the meaning. "The Light Takers," I whispered, silently.
Michael nodded his head. "That name has power, so that is why we call them Darks. The Guides have no problem saying ... you know... since they are animals. Us, Seers, have to watch out, because some might show up. You, you can never say that word, or else you are found and maybe killed."
My heart started to race, because that was what had happened already. The first time I had met them, I had said their name, and then they showed up. I thought I was going to get killed.
Lasi studied me, and I knew that she knew that I was hiding something. "You best be going. It is almost dusk, and you can't be outside."
I nodded and sighed. This was getting very, very complicated. My life was also.
You'll get used to it.
"Your bike is in back. Everybody thinks you left with a dog?" he questioned.

"A dog found me... soo ya."
"Well, get going," Lasi said, getting up and jumping out of my lap.
I stood up and sighed. "All right. What about that... dog?"
She looked at me, her green eyes holding knowledge in them. "I will see you later. I got to do some... stuff..." She seemed to be sending me a message. However, I didn't know what she was trying to say.
I looked at her, confused. "Where do I go out?"
"Through that door right there," Michael said, pointing to it.
I looked to where he was pointing and nodded, spying the door. I knew that it would lead me away from the rest of the people at the restaurant, so I didn't have to answer any questions.
"Come by after school tomorrow. We'll start your training, then," Lasi said.
I nodded my head and sighed a little. "I'll see you tomorrow, then." And with that, I walked outside, thinking about how my life had changed...

Gods How I Hate Nature
While there are always choices in life, lately they’ve all tended to skew between bad, terrible, and suicidal. Tome finds himself typically choosing the latter. As if people and plants consistently trying to kill him wasn’t bad enough, he finds himself sent off to a Mage Spire along with a self-righteous other worlder (as though there were any other kind). Add to this some powerful figures in black, a sadistic instructor, an uptight law keeper, and Tome just wants to go back to his room, down a pint, and forget about everything… But, when someone starts a fight, especially someone bigger and stronger, you bide your time and strength. Before you can get revenge, you have to settle for surviving and slowly gaining power. That means accepting the most suicidal choices, doing the jobs no one else will do, always smiling, and not slitting that other worlder’s throat… (The story will incorporate comedy, but it will be a dark story. This won't be a happy, uplifting tale, but it also won't be too morose or depressing. Though if you're rooting for the other worlders, then I suppose it will be...)
