"Joes? Are you ok?" Cody asked looking at me, worriedly. He whined and nudged me, trying to bring me some comfort.
I shook my head and sighed. "Not really," I replied truthfully. I looked around and saw Ms. Gables leaning against a parked car, staring at us. I frowned, still not liking her. However, I didn't know why she was here, parked in front of my house.
"Why's she here?"
"Take me to school, I guess," I replied. I looked down at him, meeting his gaze. "Go get something to eat and meet me at school."
"But, I can't go into the school."
"Did I say go into the school?"
"No, but you told me to meet you at your school."
I rolled my eyes. Dogs. Why couldn't the think like humans sometimes? However, Cody was a Guide, so he should be able to think like a human and get what I mean by what I had said. "I mean, wait for me in the back of the woods, until I call you."
"How will you call me?"
"You'll know." I started to walk towards Ms. Gables. Something made me want to look back at Cody, so I turned around and saw that Cody was still there. He had cocked his head and looked at me, confusion written all over his face. I sighed, annoyed, and rubbed the bridge of my nose. "Really?"
"How will I know if you had called me? Somebody else could be calling me."
"When I do this." And with that, I whistled the sharp whistle that I usually used when I had called one of my grandparents dogs. I couldn't believe that I remembered how to do that whistle, because it had been a long time ago. However, I did remember myself whistling it out in the woods, wondering if they could hear me. None came to me though, which made me sad.

Cody pricked his ears, hearing the whistle. He cocked his head, looking at me, still probably kind of confused. "Is that it?"
"Yes, now go and do something else. Or else she will be pissed off at me." I nodded my head towards where Ms. Gables was still waiting for me.
Cody wagged his tail and bounded off into the woods. "I'll see you later, Joes." With that, he disappeared into the woods, making a small bit of leaves fall off of the bush that had held Lupus the night before.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Dogs," I muttered. I turned back towards the road and walked to Ms. Gables. I hoped that she didn't try anything. Because, I wasn't in the mood for any of her attitude.
Knowing my luck, however, she would be a bitch towards me. I still didn't know what I had done that made her hate me so much. However, she did and she didn't even give me a clue on why she had hated me.
I don't think it was something that I had done in the past, because I was pretty quiet back then. I had been the good little kid, who wasn't rowdy or anything like that. I remembered that I was usually by myself, and I was sometimes with Luke, playing with him.
