Chapter Nine
Wedding
The next two weeks went by too quickly for my liking.
Two weeks closer to Chris potentially never coming back to Beckton again.
I shook the thought from my head and resumed getting ready for my cousin Samantha and her fiancée Derrick's wedding.
I had a robe on right now but I had a beautiful coral pink dress sitting on my chaise and half of my hair was in curls.
I finished curling my hair and I started applying some makeup. I didn't like it when girls made their face cakey with makeup. So I stuck with the simple eye liner, mascara, blush and lip gloss.
I went back into my room. Stripped out of my robe and pulled the dress on. It was a floor length dress that was a little too long to wear with flats. So I threw on a pair of nude pumps.
I grabbed a nude coloured clutch purse, put my phone in it, and headed downstairs.
Mum had suggested that I bring Chris as my date to the wedding. And since he was leaving in just a couple weeks, I needed to spend some extra time with him. He said that he would come as my date if he could take me out on a date again tomorrow.
I waltzed down the stairs, happy with how I looked and awaited for Chris to knock.
"Wow honey you look amazing!" mum said as she came down the stairs.
"You don't look too bad yourself" I replied with a smile.
She was wearing a beautiful dark blue dress that fell half way down her calf with a white over the shoulder purse.
She came over and placed a kiss on my cheek.
"So when's Chris coming?" she asked excitedly.
My mum and Chris have met a couple times and she absolutely adores him. How could she not? They get along really well and I couldn't be happier.
"Any minute now" I said laughing a little.
Just as I finished my sentence there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it!!" mum said as she ran towards the door.
I stood by and watched as mum flung the door open and immediately gave Chris a big hug, he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before he stepped in.

My breath hitched in my throat when I saw him. He looked amazing.
He was wearing a navy blue suit with a white dress shirt and navy blue tie.
Chris looked around the room before stopping; his eyes glued to me.
"Well don't you look like you walked off of a photo shoot" he said walking towards me. When he reached me, he placed a gentle kiss on my cheek.
"You don't look too bad yourself" I responded.
"Well I think we should get going. The ceremony starts in an hour" mum said.
"Mind if I drive?" Chris asked walking me to the door with his hand on my waist.
"That would be just fine" mum winked.
Mum beat us to the jeep and climbed into the back seat so Chris and I got the front.
He helped me into the seat as per usual and climbed in on his side.
He pulled out of the driveway and mum began to give him directions to the wedding venue.
I was looking out the window admiring the gorgeous day it was when I felt Chris's hand over mine. I turned my hand palm-up and he entwined our fingers together.
He and mum continued to talk as I remained silent, looking out the window.
When Chris pulled into the dirt parking lot, Chris walked over to mum's door, opened it and let her out, and just as I began to open my door, he grabbed the handle.
He lifted me bridal style, did his usual spin, and set me back down on the gravel.
He had one hand in his pocket and the other on the small of my back guiding me down a gorgeous dirt pathway toward where the ceremony was to be held.
This location was beyond gorgeous. There were beautiful tall trees surrounding the path, as well as gorgeous flowering trees in a variety of different colors. This was exactly like a place you would pull out of a magazine. It was flawless.
When we reached the ceremony area, it took my breath away. There were about one hundred fifty elegant white chairs placed on the luscious green grass with a white silken aisle down the centre. The alter had a floral archway over top a gorgeous wood table with a light peach cloth placed over it. The pillow with the rings was placed on the table as well as two sheets of paper which I assumed to be their vows.

The scene was indescribably beautiful. Any description doesn't describe it well enough.
About ten minutes after we were seated, some soft music started and then Derrick and his groomsmen began to walk up to the alter.
Derrick looked very handsome in his classic black tuxedo with a baby blue tie.
Chris's grip on my hand got tighter as he saw me admiring Derrick. I chuckled.
"Calm down Chris"
He laughed at me and slung his right arm over the back of my chair and held my left hand with his.
Mum was sitting to my right and my cousin Jared was to Chris's left with his girlfriend on the end.
The music started playing again and everyone stood from their seats.
Sam's bridesmaids began to walk down the aisle followed by her sister Morgan's children as the flower girl and ring bearer. Then, the music changed a little and Sam began to walk towards her awaiting fiancée.
She was wearing a gorgeous dress that was fitted at the top, had a drop waist which showed off her figure perfectly and the bottom was tool but it wasn't too poofy.
She looked absolutely amazing.
As soon as she became visible, Derrick's face lit up like a child on Christmas morning. Only this expression was much much stronger. Like everything had vanished and it was only him and Sam.
The ceremony was beautiful and went very smoothly. After Sam and Derrick shared their first kiss as a married couple, they descended down the aisle and everyone began to get up to head to the reception.
The reception hall wasn't actually a hall. It was a short walk down another path from the ceremony.
Chris and I walked hand in hand behind my mum and aunt who were chatting away.
We walked onto a bridge that was decorated wonderfully and crossed over a creek. We followed the path onto a hill that had a huge white silk tent with candles and flowers on the various tables and a beautifully decorated head table. Koodos to the wedding planner. I needed to get their phone number.
Just as we reached the top of the hill, the sun began to set. Chris and I were seated at a table that overlooked the valley.
The view was spectacular to say the least.
The tent was thin enough that you could see all of the colours of the sky through the material.
We ate dinner and the dance floor was opened.
Tim McGraw's "Meanwhile Back at Mama's" came on and all of the couples began to dance.
Chris stood up and held out his hand.
"Come on"
"Chris, I can't dance"
"Well you're coming"
I caved and stood up from my seat brushing the imaginary dust from my dress.
I took Chris's hand and followed him to the dance floor. He rested his right hand on my hip and held my right hand in his left. I placed my left hand around his neck and kissed his cheek.
"Thank you for that darlin" he smirked.
"Your welcome" I laughed.
We danced to the song and all of a sudden, Chris dipped me. I threw my head back and laughed. He stood me back up and I gave him a quick kiss.
We danced together for three more songs before going to sit on the side of the hill.
Chris sat down first and pulled me down so I was sitting on him. I moved around a little and then I sat with his legs on either side of me and my back and head up against his chest.
This was my favorite way of sitting with him.
"I can't wait until this is us" he smirked.
"Me neither" I replied.
We have only known each other for about three months and I feel like I've known him my whole life. I loved him. And I honestly couldn't wait until the day we got married.
But what if he wasn't around to be waiting at the alter for me?
This was a question I did not want to hear the answer to.
