"Ah! It seems we have a new guest!" A British man in a black tuxedo and black top hat cheers. "So it would seem." A women to his left says dully. "More for us to clean." The other women on the right sulks. "Cheer up Tina and Gina! This is Rue Manor! One of the most luxurious manors on the west coast!"
Red and blue carpets flood the floors, and purple and golden tapestries and curtains hang on the walls. The rooms are well lit by crystal chandeliers, and upon entering, is a beautiful marble staircase with a gold accented railing. The kitchen is state of the art, and the library is full of every book, story and limerick you could think of! The outdoors are just as beautiful. A large, salt water pool sits on a beautiful patio, and the landscaping is superb.
"I am Thomas! The butler here at the manor, and as you know, this is Tina and Gina, the maids who will cater to your every whim!" They both give a small nod, and continue to hold their emotionless expressions upon their faces. "Though the manor all in all seems like a perfect getaway, for our 13 guest it was anything but."
"The guest were not informed they shall be playing a gamer of life and death. For each day, a new murder arrives, and with each murder, comes an investigation." Thomas continues. "You may investigate one of three areas to depict how Mrs. Miraz passed.” –Thomas, A Final Bow. They then are to chose between 3 areas to investigate. Sometimes the killer changes things up, but usually, there are 3 areas to view.
“The morgue, where his body be laid to rest” –Thomas, High Die-ve. The morgue is a modern, stainless steel room. Modernized equipment and tools are set up around iron cabinets. A big, steel table sits in the center of the room. Bags of evidence and cleaning supplies are always available at the morgue. "There's no blood, so where did the POP come from?" -Greg, A 'Shoking' Twist." You have to be okay with the sight of the dead body, though.
Then there is the place where the murder took place. "I'm down with the crime scene” Winter, Outside Homicide. The crime scene can range from a bedroom to the pool. The crime scene usually has lots of blood, and an odd piece of evidence that can make or break a case. “and a thin metal plate sits in the space. ‘Pressure plate, possibly’” –Kallista, Bed Bomb. The crime scene is only for the best detectives, for many things may be hidden among them.
"I'll take the last known whereabouts." Greg, Snake Eyes. LAST but not least, the last known whereabouts. This place can hold clues to how the victim arrived at the crime scene, or maybe if they were murdered there instead. "What the heck is a giant steel cage doing on top of a manor?" -Winter, Claws & Jaws. Pieces of substantial evidence can be found in this area.
After the guest finish up the investigations, they then begin to share and trade information with each other. Many people have grouped in alliances and teams to ensure their lives. "Sami, Greg, and Alex are joined by Kallista, Dave, Kyle and Katie. -MEAT Me At The Steps." They share their information to be able piece together the crime.
"In this bag I hold what you need
For this is where the next clue shall lead
Arrange them in the order of the Scarlet King

Then find his almost identical twin
Think you can make it far?
Then it's time to raise the bar!" -RIDDLE, Snake Eyes
Next up is the wondrous words that the killer has set to confuse the competitors. The riddle. The riddle is true test of smarts and skills. They have to know their animals, math, science, English and their locations about the estate. "I see you all have finished your findings. Now, the killer has left a riddle." -Thomas, A Final Bow.
The guest are then given a small window of time to discuss what they wish with who they wish. Then they are to prepare in a luxurious outfit and get ready to state their case. "State your case" is when the guest are ordered 1 by 1 into the study to state how they think the murder went down. This is what decides who is spared and scared.
"That's when you planted the bomb!" Dave, STATE YOUR CASE FILES. "You thought you could fool me, but I know what really happened!" Sami, STATE YOUR CASE FILES. "She was running for her life!" -Winter, STATE YOUR CASE FILES. "I'm not quite sure how, but you did strangle him." Greg, STATE YOUR CASE.
At the end of their cases, they are then to tell who they believe is the killer. For as you know, the killer is among the 13 guest. "The killer is ... Winter!" -Walt, STATE YOUR CASE FILES. "You don't fool me Dave!" -Katie, STATE YOUR CASE FILES. "Kallista, I know you're whodunnit!" -Kyle, STATE YOUR CASE.
Afterwords, they have a luxurious dinner and are revealed whether or not to be spared or scared. "The killer believe one of you has worked 'double duty' to crack this case. Kallista!" -Thomas, MEAT Me At The Steps. "Winter opens her card, and shows everyone she is spared. "Have you ever been scared?" -Thomas, Claws & Jaws. "Jennie, Katie and Dave, also spared." -A Final Bow. Spared, meaning you'll live another day. "The deadly liquid is splattered on the card, reading scared." -Outside Homicide. "Thomas tips his head towards Katie. She is scared." -High Die-ve.
Night time is no easy time for the guest. The murder could take place at any moment, and those who get scared cards are cautious and dreadful of what could come and get them during their slumber. The next murder comes soon, and the investigation is soon to follow. "Seems as if we are playing a game of life and death." –Sami, A Final Bow.
Then of course, are the contestants. 13 people have auditioned and unknowingly entered into the morbid game. Many of them have come for places all over the country. They each entered the manor, cautious of what might happen. They checked into the manor hoping for the best 9 days of their lives. However, it ended up being the last 9 days of their life. One by one the guest will be nocked off, and it is the job of the remaining guest to solve the murder. Then there is the final showdown, where 11 guest will leave, losers, and dead. 1 guest will walk off with 1 MILLION DOLLARS, and be the last person standing to unmask whodunnit. Here are 9 of the 13 contestants
Olivia Miraz, a fairly tanned women with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Her smile stands out among a crowd, which is good, considering she's a rockette from New York City. She loves to preform, and acts shy at first, but when you get her to open up, she could be your very best friend.

Walt Yxing, also from NYC, is a cop. Unlike living in the hip areas like Olivia, he lives in the mean streets, protecting them. His cop and detective training is put to the test within this competition. He has pale skin, black hair, and brown eyes.
Paige Heffton, a star student at Yale University in Connecticut. She's a tad small, but has beautiful dark brown hair and stunning blue eyes. She has amazing skills with photography and hopes to become an aspiring musician.
The next is Evan Holt. He's an exterminator from Colorado, and has a light and cheerful look to himself. He has long blonde hair with fairly tanned skin. Brown eyes give his blonde hair and edge. He's a fun loving family man, and entered this with his brother, Kyle.
Animal lover Jennie is up next. Being a vet, she loves and cares very much for animals, and they have become her best friend. Her brown hair and blue eyes make her face seem smooth and kind. Her hair is fairly short, as well as her height. She's from LI, NY.
Samantha Foy, or Sami to her friends, is a great singer. Her voice booms throughout the room, and she loves to preform. Being at the age of 30, she's been able to keep with the trends. Her weight is fairly normal, and very tall, with short brown hair. She lives in Michigan.
Dave Calbourt is called Doctor Dave throughout his time in the competition. He's a 29 year old doctor from Georgia. He has tan skin and brown hair. He loves to encourage people to do their best and always wears a smile.
The actor, Alexander Bas, used his acting skills during the competition to fool many of his competitors. He originates from California. He loves to travel, and always takes pictures and records of his trips. He's fairly short, with fairly tanned skin, short brown hair and brown eyes.
Egineering's the game, for Greggory Simon. He has dark skin and dark eyes, and is always punctual. He has a very tall build and a very deep voice. He's always prepared and comes from Alabama.
All those contestants are now dead. Shall we recap how?
Oliva took her final bow
Walt dropped to doom
Paige and Evan were poisoned purposely
Jennie blew up on the wrong side of the bed
Sami took an arrow to the head
Dave's death was quite a shock
Alex was struct by the constrictor
Greg hit the ground dead
And then there were 4!
Kallista Fame, she's a tennis star from Maine and always brings her game. Kallista has a slightly dark vibe to herself, which has played into her advantage. Her skin is fairly tan, and she has long black hair. Nothing ever seems to effect her, and has a total of 20 accusations against her being the killer. She's gotten the best theory twice, as well as been scared twice. During the last book, she went mysteriously missing. Is she dead? Or is this just her disappearing act and she's the killer?
Then there is Katie. Katie is the vibe of sunshine that truly brightens up this game of murder. Katie comes from Montana, and is a big soccer star. She's been quick to solve many of the riddles throughout the game. She has wavy brown hair and a bright smile. She's fairly tall and tan. She's only had 1 accusation against her and she has gotten the best theory once, as well as been scared 3 times. She was scared during the last book
Evan Holt's brother, Kyle Holt is up next. Unlike his brother, Kyle has made it much farther in the competition. Kyle used his smarts for the 1st and last book to score the best theory. However, Kyle has also been scared twice, and has 10 accusations against him. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, and is very tall. Just as his brother, he's an exterminator.
Finally there's Winter. Winter's been considered the double crosser because of her sneaky ways to win best theory 2 times! Winter has NEVER been scared before, which explains why her back-stabbing ways always seem to work. No one dares to cross her, and her blonde hair and tall height puts your eyes on her. She's a teacher, but has won Miss. Pennsylvania. Her blue eyes add to her beauty.
AND NOW, THE FINALE
Winter and Kyle are downstairs, playing pool in the bar. "So, who do you think is going to live?" Kyle asks Winter. "Kallista. I think she's the killer. So." Winter answers. "Me too." He responds. They continue to play pool until they hear footsteps coming from the steps. "Katie!" Kyle and Winter shout, and greet Katie with hugs. "So does that mean..?" "No. I'm still here." Kallista walks into the bar. "Wait, so...are we all going to be in the finale?" Katie asks, hopeful. "Well, I'm not-" "Come quick!" An English accent interrupts them. "Thomas?!"
Inside the great room, Giles stares downward at a white coffin filled with black roses. "That's... creepy." Winter backs away. "Guys!" Kallista shouts, and then everyone begins to notice. Smoke begins to pour from everywhere, coating every inch, making it impossible to see at all. Coughs and groans fill the room, and Thomas begins to shout through the smog. "Winter?" "Here!" "Kyle?" "Here as well!" "Katie?" "Yeah!" "Kallista??" No reply. "Kallista?!" Everyone begins to shout in unison. Suddenly a deep, auto-tuned and disguised voice booms around the room.
"My dear guest, welcome to the finale." The voice surrounds the room, making the room feel very eerie. "Who the hell?!" Winter screams. "I would like to congratulate you all for making it this far in my little game! But now is the time to forget everything you know about this competition. For now we have reached the finale, and 1 of you will walk out with 1 million dollars, and I shall walk out in handcuffs. 2 of you shall die at the chance."
The smoke pours out through the windows and doors, and as the guest continue to cough, the room is revealed again. "Oh my." Katie looks down in the coffin. Kallista's body lays inside the coffin, peaceful, and clutching the bottle of poison that was supposed to be used on her when Paige and Evan died. "Just the way the killer wanted." Thomas sighs. The next noticeable thing are 3 tables. There are 8 different boxes on them, along with a screen monitor at the end.
"My dear guest it seems as if-" "Thomas, thank you for your assistance, but I now control the game. I am done with you and your service." The voice interupts Thomas. "Uhm. Of... of course. I'll be on my way." Thomas exits the room. "Care to here the challenge?" The 3 remaining guest each have a nervous look on their face. "Very well."
"The finale is upon us
For now there is no trust.
I am 1 of you
The only only question is, who?
Many have passed inside these walls
Now they begin to walk the halls!
For once living, now dead
Today is a frightning day you shall dread!
Look to the steps, follow my clues
The one who wins shall be you!"
Hearing the creepy voice, they do as they are told and look at the grand staircase. "Holy shit." Kyle shakes his head. "No way." Katie steps back. Walking down the steps in a straight line are all the dead guest, from Olivia to Greg. They don't seems to acknowledge the guest, and instead begin to spread out among the manor. The monitors flash on, words writen on the screen. The guest then step towards them, wondering what words they hold.
"Each is heading to a different location. For at each place is a different station. You must complete the task to earn a key, and come back here, don't you see? Once you've earned all 8, turn and twist, but don't do it early or late. The clue shall be reveleaded at the end, and the next event shall soon impend." They each read the line outloud, and then more words flash upon the screen.
KATIE: Olivia, Upstairs Hallway, Memory
KYLE: Sami, Outdoor Path, Skill
WINTER: Greg, Roof, Logic
They each suddenly take off in their directed areas.
KATIE: Katie dashes quickly up the steps to the regal hallway. She sees Olivia there, standing stiff and holding a plack. "I was told to meet here, for my beauty to be shot. Instead I was shot. Where was the note left telling me to come here?" Katie reads, slightly panting. There are 2 sticky notes, one says mirror, another says bed. "Mirror!" She says, and hands her the stick note. She is given a black key, and Katie slips it into her pocket and runs back down.
KYLE: It's a long run for Kyle to reach the outdoor path, where only a couple of days ago they went for the mini-Olympics. "Alright." He pants, holding his knees. Sami is dressed in a silly referee costume, staring into blank space. "Archery and running were combined in my death! For I was running for my life, and little did I know I'd be the 1 to die. Where was I shot?" There are 4 archery targets set up. Each 1 has a different picture. A head, a neck, an abdomen and a thigh. Kyle takes the arrow and aims at the head, and shots it. The shot is a little wobly, but he manages get it to stick. Sami hands him a key, and then freezes again.
WINTER: The wind howls as Winter climbs through the attic up to the roof. "Ah!" She screams. Greg is standing there, stiff. But that's not what's scaring her. Roaming around free is the panther. Greg holds a plack in his hands. "Order of events? 1.Fell 2.Party 3.Got drunk and passed out 4.Attacked by panther 5.Died 6. Moved to roof." She quickly orders the number, and hands it to Greg. 2,3,6,4,5,1. He hands her a key, and shes off.
KATIE: Her next order was to go to the Patio, for perception with Alex. He sits in a chair, holding a plack, a piece of paper, and a key. She reads his plack aloud. "For this picture is confusing, it's all in white and black. Can you tell what's true, false from fact? Find ALL the snakes in this picture, it's less then 11 but more then 6. Katie has a lead against the other 2, and begins to slowly find as many as she can. She hands him the number 9, and she is given a key.
KYLE: He's fallen behind Winter, who has now taken off to her second location, so he reads his area fast and takes off. Walt, Pool, Excavation. He heads over, and finds he must walk across floats to get to the middle of the pool. "Great." He sighs. He carefully balances and luckily doesn't fall in. "This is no easy task, for diving is the job. Find what killed me deep inside the pool." He notices Walt hold out goggles. "This has to be a joke." But Kyle doesn't hesitate, and quickly dives down for his clue. He brings up the dart, and struggles to get back onto the floats. He his handed a key, and takes off.
WINTER: Meanwhile, Winter has reached her 2nd area and has entered the dining room for Dave's key, Sensory Deprivation. Suddenly the room goes completely black, and there is no sight anywhere. "Do not fret, my little one. For this challenge has just begun. Reach your hand into the bowl and find the number of how many areas were up for investigation during my death. She puts her hands inside a bowl, full of syrup, and pulls out a number and feels it. "Five?" She questions and attempts to hand it to him. He takes it, and places the key in her hands, she runs out, hitting the wall along the way.
EACH PLAYER CURRENTLY HAS 2 OF THE 8 KEYS.
KATIE: The theatre has an odd lighting, and Katie reaches it to find Jennie on the stage, holding a plack. "I was killed off with a bang! For in this theatre I sang! There are 3 bombs below me, each with a title, find the name of the movie I was watching before my death, and assemble the bomb wires." Katie sees 3 bomb like objects on the floor, each with a movie title. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Hunger Games & Scary Movie. Katie quickly connects the wires to the Scary Movie bomb and Jennie hands her a key.
KYLE: He reaches the hallway with quick time, still wet from his previous challenge. He reads the plack and looks over the 2 sticky notes. "Mirror." He hands Oliva the note, and she hands him a key, then runs down the steps again.
WINTER: Paige and Evan are positioned awkwardly on the steps, however they are very close to the monitors, and Winter has surged into the lead. "For there were many theories to how we died together. But many were wrong. Which piece of evidence killed us?" 2 bottles of poison, 2 meat cleavers and 2 compasses sit the stair below them. "Poison bottles." Winter hands them the bottles, and they give them a key.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
