CHAPTER TWO
I dipped my hand into the bin to bring out the letters. All letters were shredded except one that had a list of our month’s expenses. That was it, back to square one no clues, no nothing just a blank future.
Actually it wasn’t totally back to square one at least I knew my dad was hiding something from me and I had to wait a few more minutes to find out. Those minutes turned into an hour, an hour turned into five hours and I was still waiting for my dad to come home.
I knocked at the neighbors’ door a couple of times but there was no response. I checked my watch and it was already past twelve a.m still with no sign of my dad. I turned to go back to the house when I saw flashing headlights behind me. I turned to see my dad in the car driving with full speed
“Amy go get your stuff now” he screamed
I couldn’t even ask questions I ran upstairs and packed the little I could in a suitcase and came downstairs with the same speed I had gone up with. I opened the back seat and threw my suitcase in as I crashed in the passenger’s seat
“what’s going on where are we going” I said as I looked to check if anyone was after us
“we’re moving Amy I bought us tickets and our flight is in 45 minutes”
“moving to where?”
“California”
I was completely short of words, California? That’s so far away it’s not even in Europe. So one day I’m a normal girl in Liverpool United Kingdom then in the night I’m on my way to a different continent entirely, how sweet.
“Baby I know it’s a lot to take in but we need to go somewhere different”

“it’s okay”
“I know it’s not okay, you must be a little freaked out at least”
“It’s fine, I think I’d like somewhere fresh. New school, new country, new friendships it might actually be good for me”
I lay my head on the head rest and drifted off for a while till we got to the airport. We travelled through British air and finally arrived our destination. It took us 11 hours and ten minutes from Heathrow. I had been to America a couple times but I was here to stay, wow.
Jet lag got me sleeping for 5 hours straight. I woke up with a terrible pain at the back of my neck because I had totally slept in a bad position. I observed the scenery through my window, it was quite different from my grand prairie estate in Liverpool which was serene. This place was full of people laughing and throwing comments at each other. I looked at the neighbors at the right and saw a guy and a girl who seemed like siblings. They kept yelling at each other concerning chores. The girl walked into the house still shouting dome things I could not make out. Well, good morning America.
I walked to the shower to take my bath as I observed the house. The design was just a little different from what I had at home. I walked down the stairs into the kitchen, my favorite place. No Eric, no dad, no noisy Derek driving by honking loudly, just a couple of cleaners walking around in uniforms.
“what’s up Amy”
I turned to see my dad standing by the refrigerator holding an apple
“Hi” I replied
Memories flashed my mind. Running to catch our flight, being on the plane, collecting our keys from the gate keeper and settling in. Dad had said on the plane that we were moving because where we were was no longer safe for any of us. Whatever that meant.

“so I called some friends concerning schools you could attend and I found one”
“really, what’s the name?” like that was going to do any good
“Imperial er… something like that I can’t really remember but it’s here in Los Angeles”
He picked up his phone and clicked something
“yeah Imperial city High, LA. School starts tomorrow, I got you enrolled already”
That was fast, so he wasn’t even giving me a choice. Maybe I’d check and say I wanted another school or something. I realized no decision was up to me anymore. I left my old school against my will, left my city against my will and now going to a new school I’ve not inspected. Perfect

Looking forward to any constructive criticism, however, i already have in mind, the entire plot and tone of the story, any revisions based on feedback will likely only be considered upon completion. As of now starting out, i haven't really settled on a timeline for regular updates But I aiming for at least two chapters a week at about 2000 words each. I will promise at least one chapter of that size at least once a week, until completion. I'm rather determined to put this story on paper ( or web page i guess).

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
