《Whodunnit》New girl

CHAPTER THREE
My new school was nothing like I expected. I thought I had gotten enrolled in some private school with great uniforms and all just like liberty high. But it was a regular school, full of regular people, no competition at all.
My dad dropped me in front of the school and left me to walk in myself, he said he had urgent business. I flipped my hood over my head and stared at my shoes as I walked. I headed straight for where was described as my class.
Thankfully, no classes had started. I sat in the middle row near a blond girl hoping not to be noticed but I guess no one minds their business in America.
"hi new girl what's up" the girl beside me spoke
"hi it's Amy, Amy West" I replied without looking at her fully
"hi Amy I'm Cassandra Woods, people call me Cassey"
"Nice to meet you" I stretched my hand for a handshake
"you're British?" she said as she took my hand
"yes I'm new here"
"cool, we don't have many of your kind here you'll have to bear people staring whenever you speak"
"thanks for the heads up"
She winked as she brought out a book from her bag. She seemed nice at least, I might actually like it here. She might even be a new Ashley who knows.
The teacher, Mr. Ramsbuttom walked in a while later with his short legs and bulging tummy. He really had a funny look; balding head with few strands of bleached hair, a waist coat that couldn't properly button and a polka dot tie, even his name was funny. Could my day get any better?
Math class went in a rush, absolutely noisy. The kids who sat in the first row kept bombarding the teacher with solutions to questions I was still writing down. I wondered if I could keep up.

"psst, hey" a whispering voice called
"yeah Cassey" I replied without my classroom voice
"where do you live, I was wondering if we could walk home together since its last period already" she said still whispering
"actually my dad picks me up I don't know my way around yet" I said with a medium tone
"okay that's fine then we'll ride together" she concluded as she packed her books
There was something a little pushy about her, I didn't think I liked it. I mean who rides with you in parent's car on the first day?!
Cassandra talked longer than I'd expect a teenage girl to talk to an adult on their first meeting day. Cass and my dad talked about the town, the system of running stuff and a bunch of other adult related stuff. With the way she was talking you'd be more convinced I was the stranger and she was the child. She dropped off at her house while my dad and I proceeded further with some minutes of very discomforting silence. So discomforting
"so how was school today" he said also noticing how tense the atmosphere had become
"school was fine, I actually like it here except their food is a little cheap" I replied while trying to get my last apple out of my back pack
"you know its not anything like your former school, I guessed you needed a change in our usual boring life and all" he smiled awkwardly
"yeah I guess" I replied with apple in my mouth
Boring life? Dad had always echoed that we were living the best British life, no debts, no stress just living the dream. I even thought at a point that somewhere in the world there was a fairytale book that had me as their major character living in a palace and all of that nonsense.

It stayed like that until I gradually started feeling small in my own castle. When mummy had killed herself and I felt a little like it was my fault because we fought so many times before I returned to school. I just kept hoping she didn't take her life because of me.
That's the end of chapter three. I hope you enjoyed it. Well lemme know by voting and commenting 😋

Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.
