Security became so tight around the house. My dad stopped leaving so often. He even started dropping me in school and making sure I entered before he left. He also warned me not to talk to strangers. What am I, three or something?

I slammed the door gently as I got off his white SUV to go into the school halls

"Amy" he called

I turned rolling my eyes with a huge sigh I'm sure he saw. He was about to give me more of all those parental stuff

"Tie your shoes" he finished

I looked at my shoes feeling a little less than embarrassed but I had to squat low to tie my sneakers. As soon as I was done, I skidded into the school halls not wanting to look at my dad or spill anything on the floor. I was embarrassed enough for one day.

I flipped my hood over my head and adjusted my bag so I could walk unnoticed. I didn't think Cassandra was in school yet. I quickened my step then a hand tapped me, it more or less felt like a slap. I turned to see Kyle with his rather greasy curls and Lakers sweatshirt.

"Hi Amy what's up?" He smiled knowingly

"Hello Kyle" I replied not really looking at him

I slowed down a little because Kyle was obviously trying to walk with me and he was not making a good effort keeping up

"You walk really fast for someone with short legs" he chuckled

"I'm 5'7, not short" I said defensively

"Hey I'm kidding" he said jabbing a little on my ribs

Weird, creating a sensation as if we were friends. Or were we?

My draft got deleted on my laptop so I had to start again 😭
