《Whodunnit》Kyle

"my dad texted that he might be coming in late tonight"
I bit on my sandwich
Cassandra hummed as she chewed on her burger. Freeda helped with some food and drinks when Cass rang the intercom button a million times due to her 'severe hunger'. She was going to have to learn to deal with that cos we were going to be seeing much more of Cass around no doubt.
Dad's room was locked, probably knew we'd been snooping or someone had been at least. Bonus star to him for being extra observant cos I knew I was even more careful than a ninja. I thought about the recent dreams I had been having and how discrete they had been, I was getting messages from my mother but it probably means nothing though because this is so not a fantasy story, welcome to real life where you have dreams that have nothing to do with reality
"Kyle's texting again" Cassandra whistled shaking me out of my thoughts
She had my phone in her hand now barely balancing it on four of her fingers gently tapping the back. I shut my eyes tightly to push back the migraine that was coming as I rubbed the back of my neck
"Ams he's asking is you wanna hang out, who-hoo cheeky" she winked as she clicked the message
"Hang out? We have tests next week, just say I'll be studying and I'm a lil busy" I slouched on my couch using my fingers to trace the edge of my glass cup; bad habits mum would say, I never believed I'd miss those words
It took some seconds for me to realize Cass had her mouth hanging in the air in shock at my comment
"Why would you say that?!" She sat taller on the bed

"Because it's true" I said giving her this 'duh' look
She shook her head and started texting, obviously not what I said as she smiled deviously to her devious self. I was so gonna get back at that little rodent. She clicked the send button and started reading out almost immediately
"Of course Kyle, after school tomorrow would be just great"
"What?!!!" I yelped spitting half my mouth's content on the floor towards Cass
"Eww Amy, disgusting" she moved her leg away from the mess
Ignoring her, I climbed the bed and snatched my phone from her hand before the rascal could do anything worse. I was about to delete the message when I saw his reply.
"Awesome, after school sounds cool, my parents would be out, my own curfew" he put the cat smirk emoji feeling mischievous. Okay a second ago I was planning to delete the message then eat my best friend raw for selling me out but yeah I was smirking at the choice of emoji, weird
"Thank you Cass you are the best friend anyone could ask for, you just linked me up with my dream guy" Cass said dramatically as she tried to imitate my voice I know you have the question on your mind, did she sound like me? Well no she sounded more like the witch from rapunzel. I picked up the rabbit pillow beside me and hit it on her belly as I turned to lie down beside her. She chuckled lightly as she scooted over and both of us just kept our eyes stuck on the ceiling
"Wait one more thing before we both fall asleep" Cass said pointing her hand tiredly to the sky
"What's that?" I lay on my side to face her
She tapped the intercom button and screamed slightly
"We need a mop please there's a mess here" we both laughed as we went back to our initial positions
"Assignments after siesta though" I opened an eye to look at her as she turned to pretend snore

Tim the Engineer
Summoned against his will to a world of swords and magic, an engineering student struggles to find a way home under the shadow of a world devouring threat. ***************************** Updates: 5/13/19: Revisions to several chapters for clarity, grammar, and style. 4/29/19: A short side story and artwork has been added to the blog. 4/8/19: A Side Story has been updated on my new blog (every writer is required to have one). https://talesfromliahar.wordpress.com/ ***************************** “The summoning scenarios are broken down into groups of ten.” Emi Ito stated. “Don’t, don’t you dare say another word.” Muttered Genzo Uchida. His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region

Humans Are Evil (completed)
A world of magic, where empires rise and fall, and where civilization is never safe from the perpetual menace of the monsters that roam the land. In this volatile landscape Fera is reborn and must adapt to this new and ever-changing world. She will grasp at whatever opportunities she finds to escape her unfortunate birth as an orphan. Either excelling, or wallowing in self-pity, Fera will question if this world of magic was as fantastical as she initially thought. Note: The story is technically a litRPG, but much less like a game and more akin to real life, for example obtaining a class does not give free skills to the individual, it’s the other way around! Skills are what unlock your class, so an individual who learns magic skills will unlock mage classes, classes then provide passive buffs and stats, in my opinion this makes everything feel more earned so that the power levels in the world are more natural, rather than every single random person being a powerhouse.
