《Son of Chaos || Percy Jackson》Annabeth

After I've managed to shake Jason off when we both realised that Amber wasn't in the Cabin, I walked around the camp, letting the memories of all of when I was younger fill me. No matter what happened, there was still happiness that is found here - the sword fighting range, pottery classes, the long and boring language and mythology classes, the bustling forges; everything in camp brings me back to when I was in my younger years. Shaking my head a little, I made my way towards the Big House to check for my baby sister, immediately spotting her and my old teacher, Chiron, who was sitting in his wheelchair, both of them talking quietly while 50s music played in the background.
"Hey." I greeted once I was closer as Chiron and her looked up, making me nod over at the man as I knelled down next to my sister. She had on a simple pair of shorts and a shirt, looking very much human as she relaxed into the comfy chair. Smiling up at me, she shifted a little in her chair so she was facing me properly, patting her hand on mine when I placed a hand on her knee gently. "I'm fine, it's still weak, but I can shoot an arrow if I need to." She said as I nodded, a soft breath of relief leaving me without me even knowing. "Good, good."
"You worry about young Amber too much, Commander." Chiron said with a smile, looking over at me with amused eyes as I let out an awkward chuckle; not knowing how to act after everything that he did to me when I was still in camp. "Well, I can never worry over my sister too much." I said truthfully just as Annabeth walked over, making the three of us look up towards the girl, who sports a look of pure irritation. "Jake tried to force some new campers to duel with him. Again." She said as Amber and I looked over at each other, both of us rolling our eyes at the idea of that asshole disturbing other campers. "Can't he leave the poor kids alone."
"Apparently not." Annabeth said in pure annoyance while Chiron shakes his head, giving her a fatherly smile. "It is alright, child. I will handle him." He said as he got up from his magical wheelchair, stretching his leg ever so slightly before we watched him walk of the Big House in his full form towards the sword arena - where I am assuming the asshole is tormenting poor kids. "How the hell was he given immortality?" Amber grumbles as I agreed with her with a soft hum from my lips before I looking over at the young girl again. "You should still go back and rest more."
Amber smiles at my sudden words as she shakes her head a little in amusement, gently petting my cheek with a warm smile. "Alright, you sound like a broken record now. But I am fine." She said as she reached for a cup of nectar, one I think Chiron put out for her as she takes a short sip from it quietly. "Worry over the bigger picture, weirdo. We have a war to fight." She said as she places the cup down, the ice making a soft noise as I looked over at her with a soft smile. "You are still my baby sister, and I need to take care of you." I said with a warm smile, pressing a kiss on her head again before I stood up; ruffling her hair with a grin on my face as she laughs and pushes me away.

Grinning at her laughter, I looked over at Annabeth and sent her a polite nod before I walked out of the Big House, adjusting my hood yet again as I walked around camp again. I decided to go to the beach, wanting to go and see the place where my most fondest of memories were at an where the key event that ended my human life happened here on this very beach. I can already see it - the sight of a heartbroken teenager running off the beach, dropping the engagement ring that was fashioned for who was once the love of my life. Annabeth always does have a special place in my heart, but now, the longer I think about it, the more I question what a life married to her would have been like?
We would probably move to the Roman camp, where we would grow old under the protection of our closest allies as we have our dream home, dream family and dream fairy tale life. It was something that I have always dreamed of, a life free of monsters and danger, where I can have a nice life with the kids I've always wanted. But now that I have lived for so long and have seen so much, I do question sometimes if Aphrodite was messing with me when I question if my life was meant to be spent with Annabeth - if it was, we would have rekindled whatever we have, but the way things are going, I don't think I even want that at this point.
Eventually, my feet stood on the sand before I realised that something was definitely off, and the beach was definitely very different from the last time I was here. The sand wasn't how it used to be; it was rough and didn't have the cheerful yellow hue that it once had. To be honest, it kinda looks like fine stones, grey and dull looking underneath the bright sun. The sea is a sickly grey, like someone had sucked away all the cheerful blue colours of the ocean and left it as as a shell of what it once was. Canoe boots floated above the water like usual, but they were not bobbing around like they usually would. Now it looked like the ocean was the embodiment of a dead man, lifeless and not moving.
Seeing it so still and sickly made me tilt my head in wonder.
I sat down on the sand carefully, resting my hands on my elbows as I examined the sand and the water before me thoughtfully. After a few moments, I can't help but let out a soft breath of an amused laughter before I called out over my shoulder, "You know, Ms. Chase, sneaking up on people isn't very nice." I said before I heard the sound of someone walking towards me, the rough sand making loud crunching noises underneath their feet just before the sight of an embarrass Annabeth with an awkward blush coating her cheek. "Sorry..I didn't mean to sneak up on you like that."
Turning away from her, I looked back at the ocean before me with a thoughtful look as the woman I once loved with my entire being sat down right next to me. "You know...the ocean was once a lot more lively then this." She commented after a moment of silence, making me hum a little in acknowledgement as I spared her a glance. "So I've heard." I said as I held my hand out, a small sphere of water come floating towards me as I looked at the grey water closely. "What happened? What made the old ocean man so sad and depress?"

"Ever since Lord Poseidon accused his only son for committing the murder of his mother and disowning him in front of Mount Olympus, the real truth has started to come through once the human policemen trialed and jailed an arm robber who came clean that he murdered the couple after trying to steal something from them." She said as I felt a read hot spot of anger go through me - my mother and Paul's killer should be killed, and I kept a mental note to ask someone to bring him back so I can murder him myself. "But it doesn't matter at this point I guess..since he is...dead."
I looked over at Annabeth when I heard her sniffle, catching the sight of her wiping her eyes as she started to sob silently into her hand. Immediately, I felt super awkward as I bite my lip awkwardly, my hand touching the sphere as the water came back to its once Bermuda Blue, the hum of pure sadness shedding off the once grey water immediately; giving you an insight of just how the God of the Ocean is heartbroken. This made me roll my eyes as I tossed the water back, watching how the sphere melted into the water again, resting like a patch of blue that serves as a haunting reminder of what the ocean was once like.
"I'm sorry." I said as I looked over at the woman next to me, sending her an awkward look as she shakes her head with a sniffle, wiping her tears away as best as she can. "D-Don't be...you didn't do anything. He chose his own faith...but I do hope that he is in Elysium, he deserves it." She said with a sad sigh, looking down at the ground and traces patterns on the sand as I watches her with a curious look on my face as she drew a trident on the sand. "But I do wish that I didn't do what I did on that day..." She trailed off with a soft sniff as I looked over at her, raising an eyebrow at her as I tried to keep the spite and anger out of my voice at the very memory. "What did you do?"
"I kissed a jerk." She said in a small voice as she fingered her necklace out of habit, where for once I saw the new edition of beads she has hanging on her neck. She has obviously gotten a new necklace so she can continue to collect the yearly beads, but among the colourful beads was a very familiar ring that she was lightly tracing over with her finger. It was the engagement ring I dropped on this very beach 200 years ago; the ring that could have been the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. "Is that....an engagement ring?" I asked, keeping my tone emotionless as possible while I felt a soft chill go down my spine as she nodded sadly, looking down at it as she ran her finger over the band gently. "Yeah...Percy was about to propose to me when I was seduced by Jake." She said and chocked on a sob, letting a fresh set of tears slide down her cheeks as I watched her silently. "And now the safety of the camp is at stake."
I sat there awkwardly as I looked over at the crying girl, thinking wildly for what I should do before I decided to suck it up and place my arm around her shaking frame; patting her shoulder awkwardly. She covered her mouth with her hand, sobbing into them as she leaned her entire weight into me, resting her head on my shoulder like she always did. She fitted perfectly into me, like the other part of me as I tried my best not to think too much about that small bit; this should be about her, not what we had. Rubbing small circles on her shoulder, I let her she cry into my neck as her tears dampening my shirt, the droplets of tears sliding down my neck and into my chest slowly. "It's okay....he loved you until the very end."
We sat there for a moment in silence, letting her slowly calm down her crying while I rubbed her back soothinly, not hearing the sound of someone else coming towards us before we heard someone clear their throat awkwardly behind us. We both jumped and looked up in shock as we turned to face the person, only to find a slightly awkward Jason with his hood on shifting on his feet awkwardly. "Uh....am I disturbing something?" He asked and I cleared by throat awkwardly, removing my arm from Annabeth as she wiped her tears hastily. "No, no...uh, what is it, Thunder?"
"We have a problemo. It would be great if you could come with me to the Big House." He said and gestured towards the building as I nodded my head, getting up and dusting my sandy ass off. "Of course. Does Annabeth need to be there as well ?" I asked and he shook his head gently, giving the sniffling girl a soft smile. "No, it's only between the Chaos Army." He said and I nodded, looking at Annabeth again and sending her a soft smile. "Excuse me, Ms. Chase." I said in a soft tone as she nodded softly, staying there as I took a few step away from her. "See you around, Annabeth."
I turn away from her and walked towards the Big House, Jason following at my side as we made out way towards the Big House. "So...did you patched things up with her?" He asked after a moment of awkward silence as I shook my head immediately, sending him an awkward look. "No, I was just comforting her as she grieves over my fake death. How are things between you and Piper, did you finally grow some balls to tell her?" I asked and he sighed. "Honestly, she's still afraid of us, but I did get to talk to her for a little. But that doesn't mean she wasn't ready to get up and bolt from her fear."
Nodding, I gave him a smile before we both walked into the Big House silently, entering the room where we were meeting up in. Everyone who was in the army looked up from the old camp map, the moving shapes and pieces on the map moving constantly over the yellowing page while floating next to it was Amber's holographic map, showing the scale of the whole of Long Island in its normal blue glow. "What's the problem?"
"We're all out of pop rocks." Was the first thing Luke said, making Jason scowl as he elbowed the male and sending him a glare. "No. That's not the problem, the problem is....well, yeah, that's one problem." Jason admitted while Amber rolled her eyes at him, giving me a look as I walked into the room again. "End's battle strategy has changed. He did a full 180 on us." She said in a serious tone as I have her a shocked look, looking down at the moving pieces indicating the sight of End's army moving. "He's attacking us?"
"Yes Percy, and it looks like it's going to be a war on 2 fronts. The Roman camp and the Greek camp. But since we've brought back the remaining armour, the Lightening Eagle and the remaining Roman survivors, we don't have to worry about the now abandoned Roman camp. But having the Romans here can either go one way or the other-"
"Either they suddenly remember their hate for Greeks and try to murder the campers, or they will help with the far?"
"Exactly."
"Well the odds are not in our favor." Forgotten said stated in a deep voice, trying to immitate the dramatic movie commentator as everyone in the room stopped and sent him a confused yet amused look. "You obviously are reading too much into the Hunger Games." Amber commented in amusement as he shrugged, sending us a soft grin filled with amusement. "What? In my defence, it is a good book series." He said as I chuckled, ruffling his hair under his cloak with an amused smile. "We are one serious group of warriors." I stated with amusement as Amber snorted, both of us looking down at the map while the others slowly composed themselves again. "You just noticed?"
"No, I figured that out ever since Commander Omega asked, 'Are they blue tortilla chips?' on the first movie night." Zoë commented in amusement as we bursted out laughing at that memory, the worries about war were forgotten for a few seconds as we relived the moment with fondness.
That few seconds were enough for me to realize that saving Earth means a lot to me now that it ever did before - I can't let down so many people and so much happiness can vanish in a blink of an eye to an absolute asshole. An asshole who I know had to make sure is dead so that no one else has to ever fight again for a very long time.
