《The Shinto Gods Series: The Imperial Seal(On Hiatus)》8-The Good Praetor and the Bad Praetor

this Reyna person is the other Praetor?" I asked Frank as we walked towards New Rome as he calls it.
"Yes. Camp Jupiter has a ranking system: two praetors who govern the camp, an augur which is like a backup leader. And then the centurions for each cohort. And then there's the probatio."
"What are they?"
"Those who don't know who their godly parent is. We still train them despite that."
I looked at the barren field next to New Rome. It was a huge expanse of land that looked like it was used as a war zone. I jumped a little when a group of ghosts floated past us.
"I can't get used to them even if they've floated past us like five times already." I shuddered.
"They're a creepy bunch but you can get used to them." Frank reassured. We've reached the borderline for New Rome where the torso of a statue with a basket was placed next to it. Just when we stopped right in front of it, it spoke.
"Halt! Please put your weapons in the basket right next to me for safety purposes in New Rome."
I blinked. "It talked."
The statue glowered at me. "I'll have you know that I am the god that keeps the residents past me safe! I am Terminus. God of borderlines and I protect these people from the likes of you."
I turned to Frank. "You kept... A sassy god statue as a guard?"
Terminus was angered. "Oh that's it, girl! I don't know who you are but I won't allow such insolence!" He paused. "Do you feel that? Do you feel my hands searching around your body for weaponry?"
"I feel something alright. The feeling of violation and the feeling that this is stupid."

"Kasumi, I think it would be best if you do what he says." Frank suggested.
I looked down at myself. Hazel had given me new clothes when I was asleep; a Camp Jupiter shirt with shorts. Two silver bracelets that hung on the both of my wrists were intact. I had these for as long as I can remember. Which is really not that long considering my predicament.
"I really don't have any weapons on me."
Terminus gave me the stink eye. "Very well. You may pass."
I was afraid that I might get strangled by invisible hands but with a gentle nudge from Frank, we crossed the borderline. The aqueducts that I saw were arching above New Rome. Then we walked towards a fountain where a bunch of kids were playing. The smell of hot chocolate and freshly-baked goods invaded my nostrils.
"How is this possible?" I asked dreamily.
"The Pomerian Line that guards New Rome. Campers who want to retire can stay here and start a new life, study in college... You know. Normal stuff."
I felt crestfallen by the word 'normal'. Since I'm some sort of dragon shape-shifter, I don't feel like I can have a normal life ever again.
When we've reached the Senate House, Lares just popped out of nowhere, yelling Latin curse words. Not that I know any Latin curse words.
"Do I even need to ask what they're saying?" I asked Frank.
"I... don't think so." He led me inside where I met, possibly, the most hardcore-looking girl I've ever met.
Her brown hair was braided down her shoulders which complimented her dark skin. Her dark eyes scanned my being which made me shudder inwardly. She wore a purple toga over her armor. The same as Frank.

But I took a double-take at what was situated near her feet. Two metal Doberman dogs sat on each side of her. On her left was a silver dog with gemstone eyes. On her right was a golden dog with the same gemstone eyes. Both looked like they can tear my limbs apart with just one tug.
"Hello." I greeted. "You must be Reyna."
Her dogs growled.
I shut up instantly.
"Go sit over there, Kasumi. I'll be right next to you." Frank reassured. Where he pointed was like the witness's chair in court. I walked on the chair where a bunch of campers, and Lares, fell their eyes on me.
Now I knew what it felt like to stare at the cover page for each magazine.
"You are," Reyna started. "Kasumi Fujiwara. Correct?"
I decided to roll with it. "Yes."
"I won't go with introductions since Frank has done it for us." She petted her golden dog. "You have fought with a monster in Ghirardelli Square. Saved two of our campers which whom were supposed to be on guard duty. Turned into a dragon and flew here, and defended Harrison from winged monsters. Is that correct?"
"Yes."
Reyna paused and placed both hands on the heads of her dogs.
"Just so you know, Reyna's metal dogs can detect if you're lying." Frank said.
'Yeah. That makes me feel a whole lot better.' I thought sarcastically.
"Fujiwara." Reyna brought me back. "Do you know who your godly parent is?"
And there was the million dollar question. "I don't know."
Her dogs growled.
"I know what you're thinking but I seriously don't know!"
A ghost hollered. "She is a spy from the Greek side!"
"That incident was over already." A camper replied to him.
"Espionage!"
"Kill her with fire!"
"That's enough of you!" Frank yelled through the mess. His words were drowned in the noise of the house ghosts.
Through my annoyance and anger, I slammed the table, yelling at the top of my lungs.
"Will everyone just shut up?! I've had it with everyone asking me the same questions over and over again. If anyone asks me the same question again I will blast them across the Bermuda Triangle!"
I didn't realize that through my rant, all of them fell in silence. All my anger was swept away with embarrassment.
"I didn't curse without realizing, did I?"
"No Kasumi..." Frank trailed off. "It's just that-"
I noticed his eyes trail down on the table. My hands were already turned into dragon claws as it cracked the table. I feel my tongue around me canines and they were sharper than before. Hesitantly, I reached up and felt horns atop my head.
"I'll tell you what." A voice started. From the entrance, a figure stood, holding a plush pig with its head removed. "It's just as I predicted."
"Alexander! You weren't-" Reyna started.
"You..." He ignored Reyna and pointed his knife at me. "Are a Japanese demigod. The one that will either destroy or liberate your heritage."
