《Vikings, Mini Drabbles》Hvitserk: Losing the baby

You promised him to bring some food over and you kind of regretted it as soon as you arrived after a good hike through the forest. 'Next time you choose a spot to go hunting, don't do it here.' You pointed to the hunting cabin. Ubbe softly laughed before your eyes traveled to Hvitserk walking over to you. But he didn't kiss you first like he normally would do, he crouched down to kiss your belly. You gave Ubbe a promising look before looking back down to Hvitserk. 'What is he or she saying, that you need to give me some attention to?' You asked, loving the sight of Hvitserk being so draw in with your unborn child. He looked up, smiling like the idiot he sometimes was before getting up. 'Maybe.' He whispered. His fingers felt so light under your chin, just as his lips did. You stroke your fingers over his cheek, totally in love smiling up to him. 'Thank you for this.' He thanked you, snuggling his nose against your neck. You giggled, slapping him on his shoulder before turning towards Ubbe and the other brothers. 'I hope it is any good.' You started, offering them your self-made food. 'Anything you make is good.' Hvitserk stated from behind you, pushing his nose in your hair. 'Will you stop.' You smiled, preparing on leaving again. 'Be safe.' 'I always am, come home tonight.' You answered. 'I always do.' He winked, kissing your forehead before you left.
It was somewhere halfway the walk back that you fell, causing a sharp pain to turn your world upside down as you started bleeding. You never where pregnant before but every woman knew the signs of a miss carriage if they came, this was that and you panics as you felt your belly contract with pain. You were alone, in a forest, too far away from Hvitserk to ask for help, too far away from Kattegat also. Nothing in that moment saved you as your dress started to color red under the loss of a child that wasn't able to live. You always dreamt about it, how she or he would shout his first cry. First smile, first walk. All of that shattered in the pain forcing that child out. You couldn't stop your body, you couldn't stop the time and all it did on the end was leaving you there alone in the first, hands covered with blood, hardly being able to move as you cried over the loss.

It became hours, you had so much pain that you weren't able to move from that tree you were sitting against. You tried rubbing your blooded hands clean when the darkness fell and you heard their voices. Ubbe was walking in front, leading the way with his jokes while his two other brothers carried Ivar. He almost didn't saw you sitting there because of that joke that made the other laugh out loud. 'Y/n.' And that just stopped the whole party. You shifted your look towards Hvitserk who immediately abandoned Ivar to run over to you. When he saw the blood on your dress and hands, his eyes turned concerned, looking for any wounds. 'What happened?' He asked concerned, tilting your head a little up to wipe away your tears. 'I fell.' You whispered. You followed in a sob. You turned your head away, sobbing while he just fell silent in your words. 'Are you in pain?' Ubbe asked carefully, crouching down beside you. You nodded, feeling how Hvitserk laid his hand on your shoulder, scouring his thumb over your neck. 'I'm so sorry Hvitserk.' You fell out in tears. He pulled your head into his arms and you started to cry against his shoulder. 'I imagined myself he would be like you.' 'Shhhttt, Y/n.' He comforted you in his own pain. You grabbed his tunic and pulled away from him, looking up into his own blurry eyes. 'What if I can't get pregnant anymore?' 'Don't think that.' He shook his head, contacting his forehead with yours. 'Even if you can't get pregnant again, I will keep loving you.' He whispered. 'This is my fault, what have I done.' You wanted to get away, from him, from everything but he pulled you back, cupping your face. 'Nothing is your fault, please my love.' He sounded so desperate. You shook your head and fell back into his arms. He helped you up, hardly knowing what to say or do for his imagine broke into thousand pieces to.
