She woke to the body behind her moving. "What are you doing?" She asked as she turned onto her back. He moved back onto the bed and kissed her forehead. "I will get you food before the battle."
She opened her eyes and smiled as he left the tent. "Mother be with me this day. I will need your guidance and protection." She said to herself in a whisper as she sat up.
Halfdan soon returned with her breakfast and she had changed. "Have you eaten?" She asked while sipping her water. "I have." He said as he then stole a piece of her meat. "You're lucky."
She told him as she finished her food. "Why would that be." "I didn't stab you, for taking my food." She said as he smiled and took her plate. Ubbe enetered the tent and waved his hands.
"It's time to go." He said as she stood and grabbed her sword. Halfdan grabbed his hand she held his hand as they met with the army.
She held onto Halfdans arm as they marched up the hill. "I hate this." She said causing Ubbe and Halfdan to look toward her. "This walking. When the battle is over and we're home, I'm leaving the battles to you Halfdan." She said patting his shoulder.
As they finally stood on opposing sides, she turned to Halfdan. "I love you, my prince." "No one is dying, Princess. I love you." He said as they shared their last kiss before the battle.
She stood behind Lagertha as Lagertha held up her sword then dropped it. Arrows went flying over head then everyone charged.
She held up her shield as a man went to hit her, she then quickly slashed his leg then neck. She turned quick and pushed another with her shield then stabbed his stomach.

She caught her breathe and turned as she saw Ubbe almost slash Hvitserk. "Mother guide us." She said as she then got hit to the ground. She held her shield up but Halfdan stabbed the man.
Halfdan quickly moved to the others and she stood along stabbing another man. As she got distracted by fighting she turned only to see Harald slash Halfdans neck.
She let out a bloodcurdling scream as she stabbed a man in front of her. She ran her way over and pushed Harald harshly out of her way. "Halfdan? No!" She yelled as she laid his head in her lap.
She let out a heavy sob as she put her head to his chest. "You said we would have a garden. Our own garden." She said as she tilted her head up with tear stained cheeks.
From far up the hill Ivar looked down with a smile. But upon seeing his sister torn he frowned. He had killed yet another person she had loved.
She laid her hands to his cheek not caring for blood. "I will avenge you." She said more to herself than Halfdan. She then felt a calm wash over her from above.
She believed it was her mother protecting her from the fighting. As more men rushed down the hill Ubbe looked for his sister. He sunk his head down when he saw her holding a limp body.
"Come on, my dear sister." He said wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "He's dead." She said letting out another sob. "We need to go." He said as he lifted her from the ground.
He put her arm around his shoulder and carried to camp then to the boats. She sat on the boat with a neutral face but still tear stained cheeks. "He did this." She said as Ubbe sat next to her.

Ubbe nodded and held her head to his shoulder. Once the boats docked in Kattegat Ubbe and Bjorn left her side. She knew they had to leave but she wanted to stay to kill Ivar.
Ubbe had packed her things and went to fetch her. She had picked a flower and had a sad smile on her face.
"This is the last." She said and dropped the flower.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.

White Mystic Fox In A Radical World
Under the cloak of midnight, behind the faint creaking sounds of metal bars, staring into the vast beautiful garden of twinkling stars and the gentle, lovely blue moon as its host, was the only fox girl living in the desolate mountain ranges of Maryland with an unknown background. The gleaming reflection of those flickering flowers in her meekly eyes, as well as her blossoming countenance of hardships, demonstrate both her innocence and independence, which has never been tainted by the outside world. A lovely flower eventually touched after thousands of years of living in peace, some bad elements plucked that flower from its natural habitat. The white fox girl never knows what's good and bad, letting them cage her effortlessly without minding their evil sneers because of her over-the-clouds excitement. Finally, the white fox girl realizes she has been treated as nothing more than a prey item ready to be devoured. She's staring at the night skies for a long time and slowly closes her eyes once she gets that divine premonition from somewhere else. It was soothing in the mind. Her lovely smile showed acceptance with tears flowing through her pinkish cheeks, and her consciousness began fading away. Before her senses faded, that glowing angel descended, knelt in front of her, and wiped away her tears. She doesn't know how to express her gratitude to the heavens above for blessing her with a fulfilling and peaceful life. Even if it was a mere single moment, that gratitude and that smile of hers were the happiest things she could ever express. Time has passed, and the sun has risen from its slumber. The soul of the thousand-year-old white fox girl finally ascended to heaven, leaving her lifeless, cold body behind, leaning against rusted metal poles. It was the most peaceful death everyone wished for. Painless and no regrets. The men in charge of the front didn't notice anything out of the ordinary going on behind them. Well...
