Dante's Immortality
Dante doesnt know where he came from and is ostracized as a demon because of his appearance. However he has hope, a gift from the Goddess could be his key to freedom. Every year any boy or girl who reaches the age of 14 can receive the blessing of the Goddess and the Status. The Status allows them to freely manipulate the world essence around them and be strengthened through it (yeah, its a status screen). Pretty much the rest of the synopsis is the prologue, please read it and tell me what you think. I tagged some of the elements i plan to implement in the story, so check there. Also i left gore, profanity, and traumatising content in because i plan on going a little dark at times in the story let me know what you guys think on that. [Entry for the June Royal Road Community Magazine Contest] A prisoner named Gemmei is gifted a chance to put her life on a better track after being transferred to the Hibiya Correctional Complex, a lower security prison allegedly intended for less violent offenders. However even though the walls keeping her in are no longer visible, plenty of barriers are in the way that prevent Gemmei from returning to the world she once took for granted. Chief among them is the Houzou Hakkyou, a special tattoo every prisoner in the system receives that alters how they can think and feel through forced sedation. The curse the Hakkyou enforces ensures compliance and docility among the inmates, but as Gemmei finds out, cruelty is born from more than emotion alone.

In the Qursan Empire, the grey walls of the city press down on its subjects. It is a highly divided society which is based on the magical strength of its citizens. While the most powerful are trained as Mages, the majority of citizens use their limited skills with essence to power the city in their assigned jobs. Jano is pretty much the lowest of the low in the Qursan Empire. A Class Ten citizen forced into transitory work after having his power restricted. When he gets the opportunity to change all of that, he takes it with both hands. Please note this is an edited version of my story ‘city of captives’. It follows a similar structure but I’ve ironed out some of the kinks. If you read that version, much of this will be similar though there are some differences. This is a slow burning progression fantasy. Please expect at least two chapters per week. I love writing this story but I do have unfortunate things to deal with like work and life outside of writing. I may be able to write and edit more than that, but it will never be less!
