《UNDER HIS PROTECTION》- Chapter 33 -

Tahir left the meeting room in a frustrated mood. He knew Mr. Latif was right. There was no denying that he needed more evidence in order to execute Abbas. But, the very fact he made so many people's lives miserable should've been enough.
While he stormed through the hallway, Dr. Maryam saw him and held her hand up to make him stop.
"Tahir, Anisa woke up," She told him.
Tahir nodded and was going to continue walking but she stopped him once she said, "But, she had a panic attack."
He turned around with a frown on his face. He was questioning her and as soon as she got the hint, she replied, "Once she didn't see you beside her, she completely lost it. By the time I came into the room, she was already yelling your name."
"Alright, I'll go and calm her down," he said turning back around and rushing towards Anisa's room.
Once he reached the door, he opened it without giving it a knock to see Anisa speaking with Yasin.
"Excuse me, but I rushed to see if she was alright," he said while closing the door and taking his position on the other side, where Anisa was.
Anisa's expression brightened as soon as she saw him. She felt like holding his hand but realized that they hadn't made their relationship public yet. So, she turned her attention back to Yasin.
"Well, that's pretty much all that happened. Nothing's been going well since baba left and my mother, or should I say, ex-mother decided to abandon us. Now, it's up to you to regain your strength and let this world know that hope still exists," he said, looking down at his fingers.
"Thank you for letting me know about everything and being honest with me. Most importantly, yourself," Anisa got a hold of his hand and assured him with her gesture as he smiled at gave her a nod.
Then, he stood up and told her, "Well, I should go back and see what Layla wants. If she even wants anything..."
Anisa let out a small chuckle and watched him leave through the door. As soon as he disappeared, she turned to see Tahir, staring at the ground in deep thought. His brows were furrowed. His expression, still in its irritated phase.
"Is everything alright?" She asked, lending her hand out to reach for his.
He snapped out of his thoughts and brought his hand out to grab hers. They felt cold, but they were assuring for him. So, he decided to warm them up and grabbed her other hand.
He looked at her and saw how life was slowly beginning to return to her eyes. Her skin began to go back to its original color. The tint of crimson pink on her lips were full. He smiled, noticing these changes on her.
Anisa grew curious. He was just looking bothered and here he was, smiling at her.
"Tahir, do you need the doctor as well? When was the last time you slept?" Anisa asked, worried.
Tahir let out a small chuckle and said, "I'm just happy you're finally in my arms again."

Anisa felt her heart skip a beat. A feeling of great content rushed throughout her body. She couldn't help but grin.
"You're something else..." she told him.
"Just for you," He kissed the top of her head where her hijab loosely stood, engulfing her scent while closing his eyes.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and as they pulled apart, Yasin plopped his head through the door and told Tahir, "Someone wants to talk to you outside."
From his gestures, Tahir was able to tell that he was talking about his father. So, he looked back at Anisa and excused himself.
"I'll be right back. Till then, your brother will watch after you."
Anisa nodded, understanding and told him, "I'll be fine."
He gave her one last look before he walked towards the door. Then, he gave Yasin a look and he nodded, assuring him that he had it from here.
As soon as Tahir walked out the door, he saw his father standing there.
"We need to talk about certain things," Mr. Amin said.
With that, Tahir followed him to the meeting room that Mr. Latif was also in. Because Tahir wasn't able to leave Anisa's side for long, all operations regarding his mission were being held at the agency's hospital.
Once they entered, the glass faded automatically from a switch in order to conceal the inside of the room.
"I heard you wanted to execute Abbas," Mr. Amin began
Tahir looked away from him and turned his attention into the distance.
"I understand why you would want that. But, I'm also concerned for you," Mr. Amin said, "This is why the agency has that rule where you musn't form any personal attachment to the case. Your affection for Anisa has driven you to a point in which you don't realize what you're doing."
"Don't tell me that I'm the only one that violated that rule! You of all people don't get to warn me about this," Tahir growled in defense.
He was angered by his father's words.
"You even faked your death! We all thought you were gone. That girl laying in the hospital bed faced MONTHS of crying, upset that the one person she relied on, left her! You did that to her. You are part of the reason she ended up on that bed. She was doing all of this in order to reach the files you left for her!" Tahir spilled every word he had been containing inside for a while.
From the moment he saw his father, he was relieved but he wanted to be happy. But, he wasn't able to be. He couldn't put a smile on his face ever since he saw him because of what he did, not only towards him, but towards Anisa and the rest that thought he actually passed away.
"Tahir, may I remind you you're speaking to your father," Mr. Latif kindly reminded him.
"If not him, then who else deserves these words Mr. Latif?" Tahir asked, "Who else deserves a wake up call BACK from the DEAD, and hasn't realized what his absence and his act of death has done!"

Mr. Amin felt upset. Tahir had every right to be expressing such anger. There was never a time Tahir had ever raised his voice at him. But, if he was, that meant it was true. He had done something to them without realizing. He hadn't thought about the emotional problems this would cause for others.
"I just thought that if I did this, I could teach her a lesson. A lesson in which she has to learn how to let go and realize that everyone around her is temporary. But, it was mostly a lesson for myself and -"
Tahir cut him off, "Oh you taught her that lesson. If it wasn't for me, she was about give herself up and make a serial killer, ruler of this country! She was willing to marry him!"
Mr. Amin couldn't look at his son anymore. Tahir knew what he was doing by giving this speech to his father. But, Mr. Latif needed to intervene before their relationship took a turn for the worse.
"Enough of this. We're in our own headquarters. Excuse me, but you guys can handle personal problems outside this door," he told them, "For now, we need to discuss what to do with this man who is still on the run."
Tahir scoffed, "You guys can manage that on your own. What is my input going to change? I mean, you've already planned my father's death together. Just tell me what I need to do like you always have."
With that, he walked through the door, exiting the meeting room in a furious state, once again. Today clearly wasn't welcoming Tahir in a positive way. He wasn't going back to Anisa like this. He needed something to calm this anger. But, nothing around him was damageable. If there was a punching bag, it would suffice for him. But, it's not the gym, nor is it training grounds.
Stress began to fill his mind while he walked down the hallway, nearing Anisa's room. Then, the door right beside it opened and Saif walked out, noticing the state Tahir was in.
His hair was messy from raking his finger through it constantly. He had the look of a monster that was ready to take anything down in its path.
"What happened with you?" Saif asked, stopping him by standing in front of his way.
Tahir looked to the side. Saif's question only made him remember the recent conversation and wasn't helping.
"This whole situation. I'm sick and tired of it. I'm sick of everything," he muttered through gritted teeth.
Saif put his arm around Tahir's shoulder and led him back down the hall where they found a table with a set of chairs. Saif waited for Tahir to calm down and gave him space with silence. Jumping to the question was only going to anger him more. So, he waited.
Once he felt it was safe, he finally asked Tahir, "Is it Mr. Amin?"
Tahir stood silent. But, after a few seconds, he responded, "He thinks he's doing something good for everyone. He thinks that he can just leave and come back like it's nothing. Especially, when he doesn't know what's been happening here."
"So it is him," Saif concluded.
Just as he was about to say something, the TV just across from them caught their attention when the reporter announced, "Abbas is still currently being tracked down. We've got the royal administration in search of him and all other authorities possible,"
Saif turned to look at Tahir's reaction to see that his gaze was fixated on the screen, with full attention.
"He is now registered on the country's wanted list where his access to any transportatoin has been denied, especially when it pertains to leaving the country under the royal governments control. The princes have all lined up to discuss this matter after days of mourning during a press conference."
As soon as the announcer finished the last sentence, Tahir looked at Saif and asked him, "Who let them leave their lockdown?"
"It was Mr. Latif. He said that while Anisa is recovering, the royal family needed to do something and do their part in handling this matter that we don't have access to," Saif explained, "But, Nadia is there. She's been getting intel while we're here."
Tahir turned back once he understood the situation. But, then, Anisa came to his mind and he stood up from the chair.
"I have to go to Anisa. Let me know if anything happens," He told Saif.
Saif nodded and walked back with Tahir. Once they reached the doors, they parted ways and Tahir went into Anisa's room after knocking twice on the door.
When he went in, he saw Anisa sitting on the bed with her knees brought to her chest while her arms were wrapped around her knees. Her head rested on her knees as well and she looked up the moment she heard him come in.
"How are you?" Tahir walked over to sit across from her on the bed.
"Nevermind me," She inched closer to Tahir and looked him straight in the eyes, "what about you?"
Anisa grew worried. She knew that something was occupying Tahir's mind. All she knew was that it wasn't a good thing. Nothing good was happening in their lives anyway.
Tahir tried to play it off and let out an ingenuine chuckle, "I'm fine. I'm not the one who's on the hospital bed."
"You don't have to be," she told him while placing her hand on his chest, where his heart was located, "This doesn't lie."
Tahir couldn't help but feel grateful towards her. She was the only one who thought about him. It was to an extent in which she'd completely forget about herself. That's how selfless she was.
"It's been through some damage. But, it's only because I almost lost you. If I was late, you could've been married to that -"
Anisa stopped him by placing her index finger on his lips which caught him off guard. Tahir paused and widened his eyes. Then, she said,
"My heart only beats for one person and he's right in front of me,"
