Hands landed on my hips in the kitchen as I stood at the sink. Filling up a glass with fresh water. Jaren seemed to be looking at my body as I could see the reflection in the window. His head was turned down and his lips slowly made contact with my neck and shoulder. He had to move the jumper aside that I had pulled on to keep me warmer.
When the door was opened Jaren pulled his head back and loosened his grip on me. Just in case the person jumped to the right and undesired conclusion. It was John so he was the type to see us breathe in the same direction and assume we were married.
"You two fucking?" I laughed and sipped at the water. Only for Jaren to take the cup out of my hand and drink some. But he didn't stop. Until the water was all gone. Then he put it back into my hand and I put it into the sink.
"I did want to drink that Jaren." He gave a face of mock poshness. His chin raised and a snooty look was formed in his features. I pushed him off and walked into the front room again. Only to find that all of the boys had moved to the screen for a game of Mario Kart. Despite their offers, I did refuse to join them. Nothing personal to the group but sleep claimed me. Only I wanted to see how late I could stay up.
When Jaren joined me though and my view of the screen was lost I closed my eyes. His arms wrapped around my body and I gave in. Snuggling up close to his chest. Nothing left our lips and I felt the night close in all around me. Only to be woken a short while later.

"Eleos. You need to brush your teeth and get into pyjamas." Jaren had shaken me awake as I laid on my bed. Alone. His arms must have left me a while before. Still, though, my body launched up and I started changing into my pyjamas that he had picked out. Not thinking about my body being on view for the short while. Then I brushed my teeth in a haze before walking into the living room again. Karen was trying to get me to go back to bed but I just wandered until I laid back on the sofa, as I was.
Jaren sat right by my head on the floor. His back was to me until he turned slightly still able to see the screen. Four karts all raced about rapidly.
"Jaren." He tilted his body to me a little more and I grabbed his chin between my forefinger and thumb. Our faces so close our breath mixed into one and I relaxed a little more.
"Go and play with the boys. I won't die just because you left." He nodded and we kissed for a split second before he stood and then walked over to the others. My eyes heavy so not much else was seen or heard.
Loud shouts and screams made me wake in a bland state. The arms that wrapped all the way around me filled me with relief and I turned. Their hands had lifted my top just a little and my stomach was out. Their warm skin left me just as warm though and my left cheek met his. My head was on his. Soft and distant snores told me that the body lying beneath me was asleep and so I wrapped my arms beneath and over his neck as I held on close. Like a small child.

Sleep was had again with the odd moment of me having to move hair from my face as I struggled to breathe. My hair was pulled into two plaits so I wasn't sure where the hair had come from.
Two hands had tried to pull me away but I held on closer to the body beside me that was still snoring. The person pulling at me seemed to stop with the constant attempts after I mumbled nothing with much meaning to them though. They had tried to pull my top back down but the hands were keeping it from falling. The long trousers kept me covered enough.
Morning came about though and my ears couldn't hear the soft snores anymore when I awoke and so I realised that the person was awake so I pulled down a little. So I was up against their chest when I suddenly sat on the chair. I couldn't smell Jaren but John.
Just as I sat up though he pulled me back to his chest and I pressed up against his chest. His hands were busy on his phone and odd sounds of quiet comments were heard as we laid together.
"John. I need to get up." His hand ran down my back and rested on the small of it. Which lead me to push away from him slightly. Just as this happened though he looked down and saw my wide-open eyes.
"You have some sexy eyes." I laughed and got up properly. He was always one to hit on me but we knew the truth. Neither of us had a desire to start a relationship. Not that type of relationship.
"Hey, babe," Jaren spoke quietly and I gave a smack. He knew what he was doing and I was pissed.
"You know I hate that nickname." He only pretended to be surprised and I carried on up to my room where I could brush my teeth and hair.
When I entered Fitz was still asleep and we had to leave soon. My mind was in two sides of the spectrum. Knowing he would have to wake up soon and also knowing he was up pretty late the night before. So, I left him until I was dressed.
"Fitz. We need to leave, like, now." Jumping up he set about getting ready. Packing his day bag and cleaning himself. His hair was pushed back and his eyes dazzling. I could only watch as he freaked out. Occasionally helping with missing pieces.
"Fitz. Eleos. We need to go." I stood up and picked both of our bags up. Fitz was so busy he had almost left it and so we headed out together. PAX would be great for me. First time being out like that.
Jaren wrapped his arm around my shoulder and then the other as we left. Kissing my left cheek as well. My left hand found his hand and my right was in his hand.
"Wait, are you two together?" Fitz had only whispered it and I nodded. My smile and slight laugh finishing the deal off for him.

It was a war. It was silent, so silent that few people ever noticed that it was happening, and long. So long that those who knew forgot why it ever started. Age of Regression
[Author's Thoughts] Dropped, obviously. Still, it's my first attempt at a novel and I do love what I did with it. Big step towards learning. Far in the past, there was a civilization much more advanced than the one of modern times. Evidence of that time remains, but it is all but shrouded in mystery as there remains no way to decipher it. Currently, normal individuals wage war with guns and smaller machinery, but those who can wield a higher power vary in their abilities. Scales, born upon humans, are a mystery in their origins but are the source of their abilities and their way towards advancement. Although normally powerless, humans have adapted to the scales and thus can connect with the power of the universe, much like the other races that inhabit its various corners. In one of these corners, there exists a human settlement where Lancing follows his father's footsteps to begin his own ascent to power. However, he finds he is far different from his gifted father, whose scales below his eyes were among the purest ever seen, reaching gem-like quality. Far from perfect, Lancing shows no desire to give up and ceaselessly moves forward to reach the peak of the universe. However, he begins to notice that the mysteries of the universe slowly begin to unravel in front of his eyes. To reach the heavens, Lancing must carve his own path.
