《Fireflys》Chapter 1

(REMINDER:
It's a new morning in Wartwood. The grass was high, Bessie was out munching on some normal snail food, and the Plantar family home was sitting on the edge of the sun light. Several yawns are heard as the family wakes up. Hop pop is the first to wake, going down stairs to starting making the others their breakfast.
KIDS! BREAKFAST!" Hop pop called from upstairs, nearly giving me a heart attack. I yawn, and brush off the small centipede from my shirt. Once that's done, I look into a mirror.
"It looks like it happened again....I can't let the others notice..." I sigh, stretching up my sock. I need new clothes..I've been...changing. I'm already shorter. And the tips of my fingers are-
"COME ON KIDS!" Hop Pop repeated.
I yawn and rush up the stairs. I see Polly excitedly racing down the stairs, and Sprig following behind, yawning and stretching. I walked with them into the dining room.
"Gooood morning my cold blooded family!" I chuckled.
"Good morning to you too, Anne." Hop pop smiled and put food down on the table.
"FOOOODD!!" Polly roared, stuffing her face into the plate.
I looked over at Sprig, who was half asleep in his chair.
"Sprig, you Alright there buddy?" I asked.
His eyes shot open, "huh? Wha-?" He yawned again.
"How much sleep did you get?"I asked.
Hop pop sat down, "not much, from the looks of it. He's got dark under his eyes."
"Guys, I'm fine..I just, need some food." Sprig started to eat his food. I could tell that he was forcing his eyes open. I continued to eat my food as well; that was, until Sprig face-planted into his food.
"Sprig?-" I asked.

Hop pop shushed me.
"It's alright Anne," he whispered, "he clearly just needs some more rest..could you please bring him to his bed?"
"Of course." I stood up and scooted Sprig from his chair. I then picked him up and started to carry him up the stairs.
He wasn't very heavy, about as heavy as my cat at home was, so it wasn't any trouble carrying him around. He looked peaceful as I laid him on his bed. I felt my clothes slightly cling to my skin, and realize how moist his room was.
"Why's it always so humid in here.." I quietly mumble to myself. Oh yeah. He's a frog. Why do I keep forgetting this? I guess after a while, you stop really..noticing these things.
I sigh and leave his room. I wonder why he didn't get much sleep last night..
"No...no no no.." I feel tears pouring down my cheeks. This can't be happening...I mean, I've always known, but not now...
I sit up, panting. The same dream as last night..and the night before...
"Wait...why am I in my bed?" I question, looking around my room. I guess I was carried..I wonder what time it is.
I stand up and go down stairs. No one's there.
"Hello?" I call, looking around the empty house.
I decide to look outside, and when I do, I see Anne sitting next to Bessie's pasture. I run up to her.
"Hey Anne!" I chuckle.
She looks at me.
"Oh, good morning Sleeping Beauty." She laughed, "You're awake, I see."
I tilt my head, "sleeping, who?"
Her laugh faded and she awkwardly chuckled.
"It's a story back at Earth..Anyways, what do you want to do today?" She asked, standing up.

"I don't know... wanna go for a walk?" I asked. Maybe we can find something to do if we walk around for a bit.
She shrugged, so we began to walk into a little trail. We walked for a while, and went into town because Anne said something about needing long gloves and socks. Once we got those, we started walking back. We were on the trail, until I spotted something behind the bushes.
"What the-" it was a..fake monster thing?
Suddenly, I heard a war cry, and someone jumped at me, pushing me to the ground.
"I got you!" Ivy Sundew laughed.
I laughed with her, and she helped me to my feet.
"Hey Ivy."
We talked for a little bit, and I introduced Anne to her.
"Alright, it was fun to see you two! I have to go now though.. but, see you later!" Ivy chuckled, running down the trail.
"Bye!" I called out.
I turned to face Anne, and saw that she had a strange look on her face.
"...what?" I asked.
She began to chuckle, "You like her, don't you??" she used finger quotes around the 'like'
I raise my eyebrows, shocked, "what?! No!!"
"Mnhm. Yup. Righttt." She chuckled, "oh! We need to tell the others!" Anne devilishly chuckled, and began to run back to the house.
"What?! Wait, no!!" I hopped after her. How could she think I like Ivy? She's just a long time acquaintance! Ugh...and Hop Pop over does things...
We got back, and Anne told Hop Pop and Polly that I 'Liked Ivy Sundew' and that we were 'flirting'. Not true! I was sitting on the couch thinking to myself. Why are they so caught up with me liking someone?
Anne shoves an article from a magazine in my face, "look! It says that 2/3 of all soulmates started off as Just Friends!"
I take the magazine and look at it. Really? So...does that mean I do? Or should? I don't feel anything like that for Ivy though.
Anne takes the magazine back and starts reading it again.
Hmm..But..it does say 'started off as just friends'... I gaze up at Anne. Do I feel anything for..
Anne?
Hop Pop began to laugh excitedly as he took my attention.
"Well, you're going on a date with Ivy Sundew tomorrow! I just communicated with her mother, and she agreed to a date! Now, to get the traditional clothes!"
Oh gosh...aaanndd it's happening..
