《Fireflys》Chapter 16

"Anne?!" I asked, running up to her and catching her as she fell.
She had a big bloody scratch on her arm, and some scrapes on her legs.
Crap...well, this night became eventful...
I pick her up, and quickly head back to the house.
We got inside, and Hop Pop was sitting on the couch sleeping.
"Hop Pop!" I said, trying to wake him up.
He moved slightly and opened his eyes.
"Huh?" He asked.
I brought Anne over to him and laid her down on the couch.
"H-Hop Pop, we were eating; a-and then hedgehogs came out, and..I did nothing! I...I didn't help her at all..." I cried out.
Hop Pop stood up and ran out of the room. He came back in moments later with some towels and first aide.
"Sprig..you didn't do nothing. You carried her here, didn't you?" He said, placing a towel over the gash and making my hands apply pressure on it, "and it's not like you knew this would happen..."
Hop Pop and I cleaned up Anne, and once I got the bandage on her arm, Hop Pop went to bed. But I couldn't sleep..I had guilt in my gut.
Why did that have to happen?
If I didn't have feeling for her, then it wouldn't have happened...
I throw myself back against the living room floor.
"It was just like in my dream..." I sighed, remembering back to when the hedgehogs attacked.
I heard a groan and looked over at the couch. Anne was sitting up.
"Also like my dream.." she chuckled, "I think our dreams were connected."
"Really?" I asked, also sitting up.
She nodded and felt the bandage over her cut, "I'll tell you one thing, hedgehogs back on Earth? Not as terrifying." She laughed.

I stood up and walked over to her, sitting down on the couch, "Look Anne...I'm sorry for what happened...t-that you got hurt-"
She put her hand on mine, "Sprig, it's alright. It's not like you planned for that."
She squeezed my hand, "and for the record? That was a really sweet thing you did for me.."
I felt my face heat up, "y-yeah?" I chuckled.
A few moments of silence went by. She leaned back into the couch some more.
"So, what were you going to tell me?" She asked.
"Huh?" I questioned.
"Back in the woods. Before the killer hedgehogs came out." She chuckled softly.
O-oh yeah..
"W-well..I-I um...you see...uh...."
"I-I was going to tell you..that...um...I..l-like-" he stuttered nervously.
Hehehe...adorable..
I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.
"I like you too." I whispered in his ear, sitting back up.
He stayed as still as a brick, and his whole face turned red.
I began to chuckle hysterically.
"W-Wha- you do?!" He asked, sitting up nervously.
I nod, calming down on my chuckling, "Yeah.."
"YESSSSS" I hear someone whisper. I look over towards the stairs, and see Polly and Hop Pop hiding on the steps.
"You can come out of hiding." I laugh.
"Oh...cover blown.." Polly chuckled.
Hop Pop and Polly came down the stairs, jumping onto the couch on either side of us.
"Finally! I was getting ready to lock you in a room together!" Polly laughed.

Also this is an x Reader story, but I don't think you'll fall in love it's more like an adventure like a scenario for you.In this story you end up discovering more things about yourself and what you happen to be (not a soul reaper). This discovery not only helps you develop the truth about what you are, but it also brings new dangers.Posted in 2015, rewritten in 2021: I'm adding more detail to each chapter and fixing up the format. All the chapters will be posted eventually. So far 15 out of 26 are edited and posted.
