We could talk all day, I'd teach you how to play the lyre, we'd sit at the balcony and drink fine red wine.

Oh if we were born in ancient times, our love would be more accepted then now,

If we were born in ancient times, we'd eat figs and grapes while lying down and listen to the wind as it soughs,

If we were born with in Skyros or Troja or Sparta, we'd watch the gladiators as the people shout our names,

If we were born as kings.
