Sun appeared behind Moon, still wearing his uniform. "Nope, I'm right here."
Countess Astrid Novarro ran towards the two. She pushed Moon hard out of the way and gripped her hand onto Sun's neck. "Taiyono! Ow.."
Moon's head struck the golden door frame that left her head in immense pain and a dent on the frame.
Artemis recorded it all on camera. Before Astrid realized it, the grand duchess sent the video to her eldest sister. The queen.
"Astrid. You will be demoted for you know it."
"You wish!"
"As if I said that."
The countess looked back at Artemis. "You won't be able to get pass by my brother."
"The Grand Duke of Kalos, eh? What will he do?"
"Grand Duchess, you already know," Astrid said, as she was being cuffed by palace guards. "I'd be thrilled to hear."
"You won't be able to in a jail cell."
"Hmph."
The guards escorted Astrid out of the building and she surprisingly gave in. When she was out of earshot, Sun asked. "Novarro?"
Artemis sighed and put her hand on her right temple. "Before you two were born, they were very popular. The Novarros are rumored to be from the Hoenn Region. All of them had positions in the monarchy of different regions. Another rumor, around twenty years ago, circulated in the media. The rumor claimed that the Novarros had executed a Prince of the Kanto Monarchy that went missing."
"Oh my lord.."
Moon rolled her eyes and said, "Mom. I already know this."
"Wait really-? Of course you do."
"Books."
"I know, I know."
Sun raised an eyebrow. "Was it true?"
"Hasn't been proven true yet."
"What was the prince's name?"
"No idea. But I know it was Blue's eldest cousin. She doesn't know either. They were distant." answered Moon.
"Hm."
"Taiyono, you up to something?"
He looked up to Moon. "I think."

The grand duchess began massaging her forehead. "I'm going to rest, I have a major headache."
"Mom, I'll stay with you."
"No, please. I need alone time."
"Guards!" Moon called out. "Be by the grand duchess's door while she catches Z's!"
"Moon, you really don't have to say that." said Sun.
"I was trying to be funny."
"But your face is so emotionless."
"Oh."
"Thank you, Moon," said Artemis, watching two guards sprint to her bedroom door. "For being concerned."
"Novarro." Moon said.
"I know," her mother declared. "But I promise you, they won't catch me."
"That better be true."
"It is."
⇺⇻
Sun bit his lower lip as he saw Moon run her hands through her hair in frustration.
"You alright?"
"No. Yes," she replied. "Maybe."
"Novarro?"
Moon began escorting Sun out of the building. "It's obviously them."
"I'm sure your mother-."
"It's not just that," the raven haired marchioness said. "Astrid's brother wants to marry me."
Sun raised his eyebrow. "The Grand Duke?"
"Of course not. Astrid has another brother. He's an Earl of the Johto Monarchy. They wouldn't let me marry the Grand Duke or I would be given power. The Novarros want more power for themselves."
"Oh." was all that came out of Sun.
"So.. just to let you know."
"What?"
"Never mind."
"What is it?"
"Nothing."
"Okay.."
Moon took off her braids. "Guess I'll be in my house."
"Yeah. I'll be there in a bit."
Sun watched as she headed towards the path they went down under ten minutes ago. Then, he remembered. Hau.
Sun called on his friend to check on him.
"Hey, it's Sun. You alright?" he spoke.
"Yeah!" he heard Hau beam. "I'm fine! I just made my own masalada!"
"Is it good?"
A low crunch sound was heard through the phone. And then, "Nope."
"Guess you still gotta work on it."
"Yeah," said Hau. "You're right."
Sun let out a sigh. "So, finished homework?"
"Yep! I'm surprised I actually finished it before nine."

"Haha, I'm surprised too."
"What about you?"
"I just need two more sentences on my essay."
"Nice."
"Not nice!" Sun almost yelled. "I'm on a writer's block!"
"Awh. That sucks, mate."
"Do you even know what it means, mate?" asked Sun.
"No."
Taking this precious chance, the raven haired boy took his phone away from his ear before pressing the red hang-up button. Sun sighed with relief. "Thank god he didn't ask-."
Hey, so what is a writer's block exactly?
"-me."
There's a setting on your phone called Search.
Fine.
⇺⇻
Moon crawled into her bed as birds chirped noisily just outside her window. She took one last peek before closing the curtains. Her cherry blossom trees were beginning to lose their pink petals.
"Late April has come, eh?"
She spotted Sun staring at the sunset. And then it hit her. Why am I trusting him?
Moon frowned. How did he even know.. I was a Marchioness... not what I said I was..?
Why didn't I ask?
She finally closed the curtains and slid under her bedcovers.
It's fine, I guess. I can protect myself anyways.
A knock on the door was suddenly heard. Moon almost fell out of her bed from the shock. "Who is it?" she shouted, using her regal voice and trying so hard to not sound tired.
"Taiyono!" a voice shouted back.
Maintaining an energetic voice was almost impossible. "I'm.. coming.."
"Moon? You sound off."
"I'm fine, Sun."
"You're not."
As soon as Moon opened the door, she collapsed. Sun was quick to catch her before her hands could even touch the floor. "She's this tired?"
"Taiyono." a harsh voice said.
Sun turned around. The sun was now gone and he couldn't see the person's face.
"Who are you?" he asked.
The dark figure began walking towards him. "My name starts with an H-."
"Hau! Is that really you? You're so tall!"
"No, who—."
"Oh my gosh! So that home remedy actually worked?"
"Who is this Hau?"
"You're a great friend!"
"I am?"
"Yes! Best friend!"
"Best friend?"
"Yes, mate!"
"Mate? That sounds.. inappropriate."
"Your face is inappropriate!" Moon shouted. "Henry."
Henry took out a flashlight out of his bag and turn it on, shining it on the two. "Greetings, Marchioness."
"Good evening, Grand Duke."
"Wait, wait, wait," the fourteen-year old boy rambled. "You're da Grand Duke?"
"Yes. I'm the Grand Duke."
"Of Kalos?"
Moon kicked him in the shin. "No! He's my uncle! He's the Grand Duke of Alola!"
"Ow.. oh.. uncle."
"Yes, I am her uncle."
Sun scratched his head. "So, why were you being mean to him then?"
Moon gave her uncle a smirk. "Tell him."
"I said the same thing to her mother."
"Oh, gotcha."
"So, Moon," said Henry. "Is he a boyfriend?"
"No! It's not like that."
"Then what is he doing here?"
"We're housemates." replied Sun.
"Then you guys are a couple-!"
"No." the two deadpanned.
"Classic denial, eh?"
"Shaddup, Henry."
"Fine, mad woman."
Moon tucked her hair behind her ears. "So, what're you here for?"
"I've got letters from the Novarro lobby you have to read."
"I'll read them tomorrow, I have to sleep."
"No, Moon. Now."
"Henry, you're scaring me. I need a goodnight's sleep."
"You can skip school this week. Your homework and books will be sent to you."
"By whom?"
"Taiyono?"
Sun almost jumped. "Me?"
"Yeah, can you?"
"Uh sure! Why not?"
"Great. Moon, please read them privately."
"Why can't you just give me them in the morning?"
"Because I can't sleep."
"Argh, fine."
Henry turned off the flashlight and reached into his bag for the letters.
⇺⇻
Moon told Sun to go to his new room and she went into her room. She took the letters from her uncle, but she didn't know if she was going to read them now or the next day.
"Sun, can you hear me?"
A faint voice replied. "Yeah."
"Should I read them?"
"Well, he did sound serious."
"Yeah.."
"Read them, Moon."
"Hey, Taiyono?"
"Hm?"
"How did you know.. that I was the Marchioness? Did you transfer to my school just to see me?"
"Kinda. There were rumors of you going to Lunar Academy. And you looked so similar to the ten-year old Moon Lumanlan in a photo."
"Rumors?"
"Y-Yeah."
"Then how come nobody else suspected me?"
"I dunno."
"If people start knowing that, I'd be in big trouble."
"Why?"
"Have you ever heard of bride-kidnapping?"
Sun shivered. "You're worried that someone will kidnap you?"
"I just want to have a normal life, ya know? A fresh start. A new home. Alone. That's why I'm training to defend myself."
"Oh, I see."

Life in another world with an Immunity System

So if anyone finds any missed places or traces of my previous world-building, please comment and notify me. Andel lived in a world where those with powers will have the final say in everything. In his world, having no aptitude to either magic or Ki means you are even worse than ants. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any aptitude to either. His life should have been hell, but due to being the son of two powerful parents and descendant of a powerful family saved him from a wretched fate. Life was harsh, but Andel wasn’t one to mourn and do nothing. From his childhood, he learned all kinds of close-combat styles and martial arts, proving himself to be a genius at close combat as long as ki isn’t involved. Moreover, during his transmigration, he also gained a system that gave him resistance to various things in exchange for experience points. The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
