"Aquarius, this is the last time I'll ask you-" I groaned, pulling myself out of bed. "I'm up, I'm up." My mother's sigh was so loud, I could hear it all the way in my room. "Well, make sure you make your bed before you go get dressed." I replied with a quick 'yes', folding my daffodil-yellow quilt and placing at at the foot of my bed before walking over to the bathroom.
Just as I was getting into the shower, I heard a voice outside. I turned off the water, listening carefully.
"Thanks for dropping me off, Scott."
I rolled my eyes upon hearing my older sister's ditsy voice. She was 23 and in her last year of college, where she was studying dance. Every morning, I'd see her with a different guy, standing just a few feet to the left of the porch so that Mom wouldn't see her. I would've said something, but I wasn't sure my mother would believe me. I turned the shower back on, drowning out my sister's voice with the sound of the water.
.....
"Where's Leebs?" Gemini asked, looking around. I instinctively checked my Instagram as did everyone else-whenever Leebs went somewhere, she posted about it.
Surely enough, there was a 8:42 AM post of her.... bungee jumping? "Okay, what?" Scorpio looked down at his phone, staring incredulously at his girlfriend's post. "Let's see what the caption is," I suggested. Everyone nodded, scrolling down. "Here! It says: OMG CAN'T BELIEVE I BUNGEE JUMPED! Thank you pressuring me to Sarge-best experience of my life!" Leo let out a laugh. "What's so funny, man?" Scorpio asked. Leo attempted to control his laughter. "One, when we were just talking, Libra told me she wanted to bungee jump."
Scorpio frowned. "Well, I told her there was no way she could jump, she told me I was underestimating her and we almost booked a bungee jump." Leo laughed. "But then she chickened out just as I was about to confirm the booking." Leo's eyes sparkled with longing, almost sad in the bright sunlight. "I'm glad she worked up the courage to do it." Scorpio looked at the ground, clearly jealous of how close Libra and Leo had gotten in his absence.
"Aries, hi!" I turned to smile at Aries, putting an arm around the depressed-looking girl's shoulders. "Aries, you good?" Leo asked, looking at her deep eye bags with concern. "Stellar." She shot him a weak smile before turning back to her phone, reading her DMs. We all continued to stare at Aries in her stained sweatshirt and baggy tracksuit pants, wondering why she seemed so... wasted. It was the only word I could think of, given the state she had come to school in.

"Okay, I'll tell you what happened, just stop staring!" We all nodded. "I kissed Sagittarius. Venus and Libra found out, they were so excited, and honestly, so was I. We got some alone time, so I decided to ask Sagittarius where we stood." I frowned, confused. Why was Aries upset if she'd kissed the guy she'd liked since middle school? "Well, why do you look like... that, then?" Leo asked, voicing everyone's thoughts. Aries rolled her eyes. "Don't go turning into a Libra."
Leo muttered something about 'not being a beauty queen' before letting Aries speak again. "Well, he just stood there, looking at my face. I'm not sure what happened, but when I tried to talk to him, he just ran off. Said he couldn't be with me. Locked the door behind him, too." Scorpio seemed intrigued. "Did he wedge a chair under the lock?" Aries nodded sadly. "I heard him crying in the guest room at Leebs' place-that's where we were last night."
I took a moment to work out the situation in my head. After Capricorn's little meltdown in front of everyone, Aries, Sagittarius and Libra must've left to go to Libra's mansion, most likely to watch Brooklyn 99 (it was their favourite show.) Libra would've gotten sleepy and gone to bed, and my guess was Sagittarius had made a move on Aries when the two were alone. The rest of the story explained itself-they were seen, became Libra's OTP (every new couple was Libra's OTP), and then were left alone, which was when Sagittarius broke Aries' heart for some reason.
It all made sense. Well, almost all of it: the only thing I couldn't work out was why Sagittarius would run away from Aries like that. He must've liked her if he kissed her. It was almost like....
He was scared of a permanent relationship.
I knew for a fact that my sister, Andromeda, was afraid of commitment. That's why she came home with a different guy every night. In a way, it made sense: a relationship, especially a romantic one, could prove to be very restraining. You would have to cancel plans for your significant other. Leave behind the people they didn't like. Basically, you would have to change the way you lived if you were in a relationship. If the relationship got serious, maybe you'd have to start reconsidering your future. Leave behind your dreams for the person you loved.

And then, over time, you would fall out of love. You would start wondering what life could've been like if you had never started officially dating them. But the pressure on you would mean committing to even more-living together, getting married, having a family...
For someone like Sagittarius, a relationship was definitely a no-go.
"Hey, Aries, I think I know why Sarge did what he did." I took a deep breath.
"Why, then?"
"Well, Sagittarius is scared of commitment. We all know that. I think it's daunting for him to consider an official relationship with anyone. You know, it can be very... restraining to officially be going with anyone, I suppose. I mean, it goes without saying that things would change, and maybe Sagittarius doesn't want change in his life right now..." I trailed off, seeing the tears in Aries' eyes.
"Well, if he really did like me, he would've been willing to sacrifice things for me." She bit her lip, holding back a sob. "Aries, it's not like that, he just needs some time to think-" Scorpio began, trying to calm Aries down. Even though he was violent, Scorpio, just like his girlfriend, hated drama of any kind. He was a natural pacifist, which was something most people didn't notice when they got to know him.
Aries turned on her heel, heading toward her locker. "Well, that definitely didn't go down well, am I right?" Gemini was the first to speak. This was one of the things I loved about Gemini-she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. You could always count on Gemini to, as the saying goes, 'tell it like it is'. "No duh," added Leo, earning himself a sharp prod from Scorpio. "Well, I'm sure Libra's got things under control with Sagittarius." Scorpio stated. "Aries is going to be the harder one to comfort, though."
"Once again, no duh." We all rolled our eyes at Leo. "What? It's the truth!" He put up his hands innocently. "Don't you dare trivialise this, Leo," I warned. Leo shuddered. "Oh, save me from the wrath of the mighty Aquarius!" I reached over to the quarterback, slapping him curtly across the cheek. He winced. "I'm not a human punching bag, people." Gemini barked a laugh, punching him in the chest. "What was that for?" Leo asked. "Entertainment value," sniggered Gemini. Leo rolled his eyes, turning to Scorpio.
"Well, how do you suggest we cheer Aries up?" Scorpio smirked. "Well, I know Libra's going to kill me when she finds out I told you to do this." Gemini let out an airy laugh. "Don't worry, we won't let Queen Curls find out." Gemini had resorted to calling Libra 'Queen Curls' when she showed up to school with wild, frizzy hair one day. "Well, what are we doing?" I asked. Scorpio's eyes twinkled mischievously. "Ladies and gentlemen, you are skipping with Aries!" Leo whooped. I, on the other hand, frowned. "But what about you?" Scorpio hung his head. "Leebs has Pisces and Cancer watching me, so I can't go with you. But I'll get you outta class."
Leo smirked. "God, Scorpio. Leebs has you on a leash." Scorpio let out a laugh. "Eh. It's nice to have someone who cares about me so much." Leo nodded, looking off into the distance, the sadness in his eyes glinting brighter than a diamond. I knew he really liked Libra. He was keeping his feelings to himself, though. It seemed to me that he just wanted to see Libra happy, and as long as she was happy with Scorpio, he wouldn't get in the way and ruin things for her. I personally felt Leo was a better match for Libra because he cared so much about her.
"So what's the plan?" Gemini asked. "Okay, so what you're going to do is..."
.....
Scorpio stepped away from us. "You all know what to do, right?" We all nodded. "Okay, see you in 30!" He walked off, as did we. This was going to be so enjoyable.
