Pisces
"Hey, stop mucking around!" I felt a book hit my back. "Whoa, whoa, calm down, man!" I turned around, laughing at Cancer. Cancer just rolled his eyes. "Back. To. Work." He turned back to his clipboard, ticking something else off his checklist. "Wow, this looks great!" Libra walked in, smiling. "Libra, why are you here?" Cancer screamed. "You're meant to be 50 centimetres that way! How hard is it to follow direct instructions?" I laughed, watching Libra cower away from Cancer.
"PISCES, I SAID STOP. MUCKING. AROUND!" Cancer was now waving his clipboard around like a madman.
Once Cancer had finally turned around, Libra walked over to me. "Hey, he's gone ballistic," Libra whispered. I nodded. "Absolutely. Wanna get outta here?" Libra nodded. "Let's go." She looked in each direction once before taking my hand, running surprisingly fast in her platform heels. Libra looked exactly like one of those models running in a commercial-hair being tousled by the wind, the sunlight tickling her lashes and her dress flowing in just the right way. For some reason, her running reminded me of Taurus. How Taurus had fled the mall the other day. How Taurus had slapped Libra. How Taurus had broken down in front of hundreds of people.
"Well, we're here." Libra held open the door of her convertible-a vintage, red affair that had to be worth a good seventy grand.
(Libra's car is the red one)
"Get in, Pisces!" Libra exclaimed. I quickly took shotgun in the convertible, sinking into the plush seating. "Let's go!" Libra whooped as we drove away.
.....
Somewhere in the middle of our crazy 90-miles-per-hour road trip, Libra looked over at me, grinning. "You like Taurus, don't you?" she asked, wagging her brows at me. "No, of course not! Dude, she slapped my best friend's girlfriend, of course I don't like her-" Libra laughed, turning back toward the road. "Look, I'm obviously mad at Taurus for slapping me. I think she's a psycho at this point, but honestly, I'm a bit crazy too." Libra smiled to herself. "I can see why you like her."

And with that, she stopped speaking, leaving us both to enjoy the beauty of freedom.
.....
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU LEFT?" Libra winced, holding her phone away from her ear. "I'm sorry, you got a bit-" I decided this would be a good time to help Libra out with Cancer. "Controlling? Mean? Tyrannical?" I made the mistake of sniggering at the end of the last one. "You think this is funny? I'll show you funny, you little-" Libra hit the red button. "Well. That went well, yeah?" I laughed. "It went tyrannically." Libra laughed so hard her Voss water came spraying out of her nose.
"I'm gonna remember that one-tyrannically." Libra looked down at her phone suddenly. "Oh, here, Cancer told us to go get Scorpio. Says Scorpio's at the beach." I stood. "So, how far from here?" Libra smiled. "Not too far on foot, actually." I looked down uncertainly at Libra's heels. "Can you walk in those?" Libra laughed. "I'll go barefoot." She took me by the arm yet again. "Let's go, buddy." She opened up the Maps app on her phone. "Okay, I've entered the destination." She paused to look down at her phone. "We're just meant to walk on ahead."
We continued down the cobbled, dusty road to the beach. "And.... a right turn now!" Libra exclaimed. "We're at the beach!" She threw her heels underneath the board marking the beach as a 'no dog zone.' I threw off my own shoes, hastening to run after Libra. She was approaching a lone rucksack camped on the slight dunes forming along the beach. "Oh, looks like he's gone for a swim." Libra paused before pulling off her dress to reveal a one-piece swimsuit. I frowned. "You were just casually wearing that?"

Libra laughed, tying up her hair. "No. Me and Scorpio were gonna go to the beach for a midnight swim." I ached an eyebrow, smirking. "What, alone?" Libra laughed. "Well he wanted to go alone, but I'd rather bring the party with me..." I noticed how Libra's face went pale when she rambled. "But, you know, gotta respect the birthday boy's wishes..." She shook her head violently. "Well, I see Scorpio, so... I'm just gonna go..." She ran off, eyes wide.
I laughed at Libra's antics. A midnight swim... how romantic. It would be fun, being out there with someone you loved, letting the waves swallow your worries. I found myself fantasizing about being out in the ocean by the moonlight with... Taurus. At first, it wasn't apparent that I was with her, but eventually, I saw her big, beautiful eyes, her petite figure, her wide smile.... Libra was right-I liked Taurus. Like, LIKED her.
"Pisces? PISCES!" I blinked rapidly, finding an angry Libra in front of me. "We need to go." I nodded. "Oh, hey Scorpio." Scorpio smiled. "Hey, man. What diner did you end up picking? You know, for our small lunch?" I smirked. "You're going to love the diner I picked. It's quite... surprising."
.....
"SURPRISE!"
I fired up the confetti cannon, covering a rather surprised Scorpio in bright pink glitter. "Sorry, they ran out of the other colours." Scorpio smiled. "It's all good, man. This... this is nice!" Scorpio smiled. Cancer let out a loud 'whoop', obviously ecstatic that Scorpio was actually enjoying this party. Libra walked over to her boyfriend, putting an arm around him. "You'll get glitter on you, babe," Scorpio laughed. Libra shrugged. "It'll come off when we go to the beach." Scorpio smirked. "So, you gonna teach how to surf out there?" Libra laughed. "Nope, we'll just swim."
Scorpio laughed. "She's gonna teach me to surf, guys." Everyone (but Libra) laughed. Libra just stood there, pouting.
"Well, let's eat, yeah?" We all hurried toward the table, happy that we were starting to find peace.

But when an object of great and malevolent power promises to make good on all the promises the mages broke to him Mar is thrust into the world of magic. Mar will find that fate had something more than a life confined to the library planned for him after all. Authors Notes: I consider this to be a comming-of-age Sword and Sorcery story based mostly on the style of classic western fantasies. So if that's your thing then I encourage you to take a peek. Something I want to mention though is that the main character starts of pretty wimpy, and that might not be your thing. That being said, if you stick with him he's got a long way to grow. Also, while this version of the story is meant to be fully readable, more dicerning readers may want to wait until I move out of rough draft phase. There may be some inconsistancies with character and plot while I am still in the rough draft phase. I'm sorry for this, but this is my first web novel and from what I've read the best way to get a good novel out is to write write write, and then edit ruthlessly after you're finished with the book, so that's the plan I'm going to follow. Again, this is a rough draft. Everything you are reading is subject to change, including the name, title, and cover photo. This may no longer be the case once I've decided I know where this fiction is going and I have a reasonable understanding of the characters and their behavior. You're reading what comes off my keyboard as it's made, with very limited editing. There will be mistakes in the text. I do a quick spell check to take out the worst of the errors, but there will be some I miss. You can point them out in the comments if they are particularly confusing or glaring and I will try to fix them, however I am not overly concerned about minor errors as this is not the final draft by any means.
