ARIES' POV
"CANNONBALL!" I watched, smiling, as Gemini cannon balled into the pool, dousing an (irritated) Libra in water. Libra groaned, shooting a glare at Gemini. "You got me wet," she uttered through clenched teeth. "Oh, stop it, Princess. Go on, jump in!" Libra wrinkled her nose at Gemini. "No."
"Oh, you chicken..."
Libra rolled her eyes. "Please. I can do a whole lot better than your cannon ball." She wrapped her arms around her torso, seeming hesitant. "On second thought, there's no need."
It was a lazy Sunday afternoon at the mansion. We'd all come down to the pool, enjoying the buttery sunshine. Sagittarius and Aquarius had come over for awhile and were messing around with the pool equipment, racing against each other on pool noodles. Gemini and Libra had been sunning themselves on the lounge chairs before entering the pool. As for myself, I had been desperately trying to wrench my fiance away from Gemini.
I smirked, jumping into the pool myself. "Hey, honey." I emerged next to libra, who smiled.
"Aries." I caught myself looking into her eyes, gazing at he shoulder blades where she once used to have wings. Personally, I thought she was prettier without them. The lack of the massive angel wings made her look more human. Without warning, Libra flicked some water at me. "It's on!" I shouted, swimming after Libra. She pushed ahead, desperate to stay away from wherever I could splash her. She laughed, standing up straight in the water. "No!" She ducked as I started splashing her, bubbles emerging where she had gone down.
Libra emerged once again, laughing. I raised my hands, pulling her close. "What are you doing?" Libra asked. "This." I placed my own lips on hers with no warning, smiling slightly upon seeing her eyes widen. Libra eyes slowly closed, her arms snaking around my neck. The sunshine flooded the pool, gleaming against every visible surface, as we kissed in paradise. Me and the girl I loved, together with no imminent death threat looming over our heads.
This is my happily ever after.
TAURUS' POV
"I'm sorry, Taurus... I thought you were gone." I twirled around a rose in my hands, looking blankly at the white wall in front of me. After all the measures I'd had to take, all the agreements I had broken, just to see Ophiuchus, she'd broken my heart. And now here I was, all alone, sharing a mansion with somebody I didn't even know too well-no, who I'd gone out of my way to ignore as much as possible over the past three years. "Hey, Taurus, I made dinner tonight since, you know, you do all the cooking, and I thought I'd make you a meal for once, and I really hope you like it..." Pisces waited by my door for an answer. When I didn't reply, she simply continued speaking.
"Um, I made tacos!"
Pisces left, the disappointment and loneliness she felt apparent in the way she walked. She doesn't deserve this. I walked out of my room, marching up to Pisces. "You're right; I love tacos. Let's go eat."
.....
"Hey, these are really good, Pisces!" Pisces smiled. "Thanks, but you're a better cook." I shook my head modestly. "No, you're really good too-I could get used to eating these tacos!" Pisces smiled. "I'm glad you liked them." She paused, looking down at her empty plate. "Hey, Taurus?" I nodded to show I was listening. "I'm sorry. About Ophiuchus, I mean. I couldn't help but overhear your conversation earlier today... I'm sorry for intruding..." I hung my head, concentrating on my fingers. "No, I'm sorry, Pisces. I'm sorry for being a disgusting housemate these past few months."

Pisces laughed nervously, patting me on the back. "Hey, you're not a disgusting housemate! I mean, you know how to cook, you've got good taste in music, you always clean up after yourself... You're a great person to share a house with!" I smiled weakly. "I was talking about how mean I was to you." Pisces' smile wavered slightly. "Hey, you were mourning. It's okay." She looked away before holding out her hand.
"Let's make a deal: from now on, we'll be friends. We'll split up the housework evenly, and we'll try and hang out more often." I shook her hand. "Let's drink to that, Pisces." We popped open two cans of soda, clinking them together before gulping them down. "Hey, let's go watch a movie after this."
"Okay, but I call dibs on the bean bag!"
"Not fair!"
We ran down the hallway, competing for the bean bag in the movie room. I found myself smiling, feeling happy, at the prospect of a new friendship. Maybe this will all work out. Maybe... maybe I'll be able to stop loving Ophiuchus.
Maybe I'll find my happily ever after.
AQUARIUS' POV
"Hey! You cheated!" Sagittarius yelled, about five metres behind me on his pool noodle. "How so?" He began to fume, swimming up to me. "Well, you.... you went faster than me!"
"That's the point of a race, Sagittarius."
"I... okay."
Sagittarius let go of his pool noodle, wearing a defeated expression. All of a sudden, I forgot about just how silly he was being-I wanted to throw my arms around him and tell him just how much I loved him. Was this what it felt like to be so hopelessly in love with someone else? To dedicate yourself to someone else, sacrifice your heart to them? "Hey, what're you thinking about?" Sagittarius asked, nudging me gently. "Oh... nothing." I paused, my eyes catching on the doughnut pool floatie at the end of the pool. "Race you to the floatie?"
"You're on!"
.....
"What the hell? How did I lose AGAIN?"
"I dunno, it might be something in the water. Or it could just be that you're a horrible swimmer."
"Oh, Aquarius, this much flattery isn't good for me!"
I whacked Sagittarius across the arm. Libra snorted, swimming up to us. "A little trouble in paradise, comrades?" Sagittarius laughed, as did I. "Nay, dear damsel," I answered. Libra smiled, her dimples popping. "Oh, hey, I know why I lost the race, Aquarius."
"Why?"
"I was too busy looking at Libra and Aries."
Libra wrinkled her nose. "Ew, why?"
Sagittarius smirked as it were perfectly obvious. I joined in, smirking along with Sagittarius. "Libra and Aries, sitting in a tree..." Libra rolled her eyes as Aries approached from the left and Gemini from the right. "Shut your trap, Harrington," Aries growled, putting an arm around Libra. Gemini laughed before hearing her phone ring. "Oh, it must be King-I'll be right back." King, or Kingston, was the name of Gemini's boyfriend. She'd met him while we were all back at Mr. English's building-he was the young, rich and handsome vice president of English Communications-and also Libra's brother.
Speaking of Mr. English, he'd managed to meet his daughter once again. Even though they hadn't quite completely repaired their relationship, it was safe to say that Libra was close with her parents. She definitely enjoyed her brother's company-King and Libra met up almost every week at the building.

I was glad someone had found their way to a home.
As for the rest of us, we were all thought to be dead. Mr. English had provided us with six secluded country mansions to live in, two to a mansion. All of us stayed in our mansions with the exception of Gemini and Leo. They'd been paired, but Leo had run away first chance he got. The oh, so strong Gemini didn't like the loneliness of staying in such a large mansion by herself, so she'd moved in with Libra and Aries. Sagittarius and I lived in the mansion directly across from Libra , Gemini and Aries' place.
"Let's go, it's time for dinner!" Libra clambered out of the water, wrapping a towel around herself. Aries followed suit, walking alongside his fiance. My own boyfriend grabbed two beach towels, wrapping a towel around me before he wrapped one around himself. I smiled at Sagittarius, snuggling into my towel. He wrapped an arm around me, smiling gently, contentedly.
It had been three years since we'd been brought back to life. Three years since we'd all passed away, only to be resurrected. Three years since we'd been clueless 21-year-olds, thrown into a high stakes fight-to-the-death. Three years since Sagittarius and I had been dating, even though it felt like I'd known him my whole life. I watched as Aries slid Libra's engagement ring onto her finger, the two of them smiling. Aries had popped the question six months ago-they were due to get married in three weeks' time, even though Libra argued she wanted the ceremony to take place as soon as possible for some mystery reason.
Once we were all changed, Aries came around with a bottle of wine, pouring some into everyone's cups. He came around to pour some into Libra's cup. The 24-year-old, however, held out her hand, stopping him. "None for me-I'll have some water instead." She excused herself from the table, getting a glass of water. What was going on? "Okay, I'd like to make a toast," Sagittarius said. "This is to a girl I've known for a little over three years. She's someone I love with all my being. Someone I've grown to trust, to commit to. And I want to commit more to her."
He got down on one knee, leaving me to gasp in surprise. "Aquarius Tudor. I love you and I want to be with you until we grow old. I want to have a family with you. Maybe we can even get a dog, like you've always wanted." I laughed, tears falling from my eyes. "Well, I've said everything I wanted to say. Will you marry me, Aquarius?" I nodded, unable to see clearly through all the tears. "Of course!" Sagittarius slid the ring onto my finger, smiling from what I could tell, before placing his lips on my own.
Everyone cheered, the flash of a phone notifying me that Gemini was taking pictures. I sat back down with Sagittarius, wiping my eyes, when I noticed Libra crying a whole lot harder than I was. "Whoa, babe, what's wrong?" Aries put an arm around Libra, who was sobbing... happily? "I'm just so happy for them I want to jump around and throw confetti in the air and crush them and myself in a massive bear hug but if I do that, my baby-" She gasped, stopping herself immediately.
Aries frowned. "Your baby? Libra...." She began to cry again. This time, she was definitely happy. "Yeah, my baby. Aries, I'm pregnant!" Aries gasped, tears forming in his eyes as well. "Oh my goodness, this is amazing news! I'm going to be a dad!" She nodded, laughing. Sagittarius leapt out of his seat, cheering. "I' gonna be an uncle!" I leapt up as well. "And I'm gonna be an aunt!" Gemini whooped louder than everyone. "And I'm gonna teach this kid how to cannon ball!" Aries' eyes widened, his hand flying protectively toward Libra's stomach. "Yeah, no. Not before they're out of floaties."
"Someone's already getting protective..." Aries laughed, as did Libra. "Well, I'll drink to that!" Sagittarius exclaimed, raising his glass. We all raised our glasses. "Cheers!" We all drank, Libra gulping down her water. "Well, I hate to break it to you, Libra, but you can't eat what I cooked today. I made coq au vin, and I used a whole bottle of wine." Libra laughed. "Don't worry about it-I'm craving a chocolate sundae right now." Aries leapt out of his chair, bustling toward the kitchen. "On it!" he yelled. I turned toward Libra. "He's going to be the best husband." Libra smiled, hands on her stomach. "Yes, Aunty Aquarius, we know that, don't we?" Sagittarius and Gemini laughed.
"Congratulations on the engagement, guys," Gemini smiled at us. "Thanks, Gemini!" we chorused. "Aren't they cute, little baby? Yes they are, yes they are..." Libra cooed. "How many months in are you?" Gemini asked. "Um... five months, actually... when I traveled inland to the building, that's what the doctor said." Gemini gasped. "But I can't even see your baby bump!" Libra laughed. "That's because it doesn't develop until six months, which happens in three weeks. That's why I want to have the wedding as soon as possible." Gemini nodded.
"Wait that must mean you know the gender, right?" Libra nodded. "It's... okay, I was going to have a party for this! Ugh! This would've been much better that way!" Gemini laughed. "Just tell us!" Libra nodded. "Okay... I'm having... both..."
"Twins?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, my god!"
Aries returned with a generously topped chocolate sundae, presenting it to Libra. "For you both-make sure you share!" Libra laughed, kissing Aries on the cheek. "Three of us, actually." Aries' eyes widened once again. "Twins?" Libra nodded, laughing. "Yeah, Aries. Twins. A girl and a boy." Aries laughed gleefully, even happier than before. "Oh, this is amazing!" Libra laughed. "I know, Aries. This is all so amazing."
As we all sat there, dining and laughing, I realised that I felt so at home now. Even in this massive mansion, I felt like everything was normal, as if I even knew what normal meant.
This is what happily ever after feels like.
LEO'S POV
I reached for my phone, opening the photos Gemini had sent on the tributes group chat a week ago. There were photos of Sagittarius and Aquarius with their arms around each other, Aquarius showing off a gleaming sapphire ring. There were also photos of Libra, Aquarius, Sagittarius, Aries and Gemini by a pool, and last of all, photos of Libra and Aries, with their hands on Libra's stomach.
Does that mean what I think it does?
At the same time, I got a message from Libra. It read:
Dear Leo, you might've heard the news... I'm pregnant! Four months in! And it's twins! This is crazy. Anyways, you're gonna be an uncle-just wanted to let you know!
I sighed, thinking of a way to respond when she sent me another message.
Leo, please just come home. We all miss you. I miss you.
What did she expect? Me to come running back with a massive teddy bear for her child-to-be? I couldn't go back. Not ever. Sure, we were friends, supposedly. She'd gone out of her way to apologise for her actions. Eventually, I'd repented and accepted her apology. But then she went and chose Aries over me. After everything, she still picked him. It had broken my heart back then. My heart was still very much broken. My phone chimed again.
Leo, please answer. I'm freaking out here-this isn't good for me or the twins!
I huffed, writing back.
There, I replied.
I noticed the bubbles pop up instantly, indicating that Libra was typing. After a good three minutes, I got the message.
Look, Leo, I know you're upset with me for choosing Aries. I just wanted you to know that even though I chose Aries, I love you so much, Leo. I wouldn't give you up for anything, and our friendship honestly means the world to me. We all love you, Leo. We're your family. Your home. In the end, it's your choice, but just know... I'm going to name the boy Leo. In honour of someone who's always given me a second chance and cared for me like no other friend possibly could. I think baby Leo would want to meet you. I hope he grows up to be even half the amazing, wholesome person you are. I really hope you can come back and give baby Leo and his sister your blessing. It would mean the world to me. Goodbye, Leo. Don't be a stranger.
I wrote back instantly.
Okay, Libra. I'll come back for baby Leo.
I'll see you soon.
I pocketed my phone, hopping onto my bike, driving toward Libra's country mansion.
I'm coming for my happily ever after.
CANCER'S POV
"I'm up, honey!" Scorpio waddled down the stairs, wrapping his arms around me. I laughed, leaning into Scorpio's embrace. "What's got you in such a good mood?" Scorpio grabbed a glass of milk from the kitchen counter, gulping it down before turning to answer me. "Well, Andromeda woke up with me this morning." I laughed, thinking of the adorable golden retriever Scorpio and shared possession of. "Okay, that's great." Scorpio washed out his glass before heading back toward the busted light bulb he was going to replace. "Hey, that ladder is really creaky-watch your step, yeah?" Scorpio nodded, leaving the room to grab something.
I heard a knock at the door, followed by the ringing of the doorbell. Hurrying to the door, I wondered who could possibly be at the door. I took a look at the doorcam...
Before throwing the door open and wrapping my arms around Andromeda. "Andromeda! You came!" My best friend looked up at me from her wheelchair, tears forming in her eyes. "Cancer... you're really there..." I laughed shakily, tears falling from my own eyes. "Of course I am." I frowned, noticing the dashing man behind her. "Who's that?" Andromeda smiled. "My husband, Tyler." I squealed. "Oh, my god! That's amazing news! But what's with the pram?" Andromeda's smile widened. "That's my daughter. I named her Cancer, in honour of my best friend who put everything on the line for me."
I rushed over to baby Cancer, scooping her up in my arms. She smiled gently in her sleep, as if she knew she was in good hands. I smiled down at her, cradling her in my arms. Andromeda (the dog) came running up to the actual Andromeda, leaping into her lap. "Who's this?" she asked, patting Andromeda on the head. Scorpio walked out of the garage, leaning against a post. "That would be Andromeda, who is our dog. Named in honour of you. And I would be Scorpio, Cancer's partner and handyman." Andromeda smiled and nodded. Tyler walked over, shaking hands with Scorpio. "No need to be so formal, mate," Scorpio chided, throwing an arm around Tyler. "If you say so, Scorpio," Tyler replied. "It's the start of a bromance!" Andromeda exclaimed.
I laughed. Scorpio and Tyler did not. "Well, do you want to come in for a cup of tea?" I asked. Andromeda shook her head. "Oh, we're just here to take a look at how the construction of our new house is going. It's about five minutes from here-we had Mr. English look into finding a private property for our new home to be ejected onto. Ejection was the newest innovation in home construction. It was a process which involved extremely large 3D printers, which were used to print out a fully designed home, complete with furniture, items and decoration.

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!
