It had been about a week since you had moved into the house and things had gone rather smoothly. The boys enjoyed your company and Gaster had slowly become more comfortable with your continued stay.
Gaster sat at the table going through notes. The grinding of his teeth, you had to admit, was beginning to get on your nerves.
"Gaster, is there a problem? You've been sitting their for an hour now staring at the same page," You asked.
Gaster ignored you as he continued to stare intensely stare holes into the pages.
I swear another five minutes and those pages will be up in flames.
You sighed and laid your head to rest on the table before an idea made itself present in your mind.
"Why don't you try looking at it from a different angle? I mean you keep looking at it from just the one angle or idea right? So why not try something new?" You asked.
Gaster eyes flickered in your direction, "That's not my problem per say."
You frowned, "The what is?"
The scientist ignored the question and stared again at the paper.
Ugh, he's so stubborn I swear to god.
Letting out an exasperated sigh you sat back and closed your eyes.
He's probably just stressed... Maybe he just needs someone to help him calm down.
You opened your eyes and leaned closer to Gaster. Reaching out a hand you placed it lightly on the gloved hand closest to you, "Hey, I'm sure you'll figure everything out. Just don't stress yourself out okay. You'll make the boys and I worry."
Gaster's eyes glanced down at your hand, a purple tint spreading across his face.
"Sorry, you probably feel uncomfortable with me holding your hand," You said, slightly disappointed, as you went to pull away.
Gaster's other hand gently landed on top of yours before you could remove it, "No... I-it's actually rather calming."
You felt your face flush with heat, "O-okay."
Gaster turned his eyes back to the papers but removed his hand from over yours. You wrapped your fingers around the hand that remained and stroked his knuckles with your thumb. His whole figure seemed to relax and his eyes softened as he stared at the page.
You studied Gaster's features as you continued to stroke his hand. He had changed into a grey turtleneck and greyish black jeans.
Must be his casual wear
You smiled internally.
It's kind of cute.
You then studied the curves of his hands beneath the gloves.
"Gaster?"
"Hmm," came the reply.
"Why do you wear gloves all the time?"
Gaster tensed under your hand. There was a silence between you two for what felt like the longest minute of your life.
Finally he spoke, "It's... difficult to explain."
"I'm listening," You told him.
Gaster swallowed before removing his hand from beneath yours. He seemed nervous but he took your hands into his own and turned to face you, his eyes meeting yours.

"I... I don't want you to judge me on what I look like," He stated.
You felt worry bubble in your stomach.
What is wrong with his hands that he's worried I'll change my entire judgement on him?"
"Gaster, It won't change simply because of your appearance," You told him.
Gaster nodded slowly before pulling his hands away and pulling a glove ever so slowly over his hands. You followed the trail of the glove, at first it was as you expected, his hands were smooth ivory bone, however as they continued along you noticed something strange. There in the middle of his hand was a circular hole.
You took his hand gently into your own and studied the hole, "D-does it hurt?"
Gaster shook his head, "No. It doesn't cause me any physical pain. However it is a... disfigurement on my part and not considered normal."
Frowning you studied his hands further before meeting his eyes, "I don't think they are disfigured. After all they are part of you and you are a wonderful person who may not be normal but who cares about being normal in this world."
You smiled at him. Gaster didn't leave your eyes, however his face didn't lose its purple tint, "I don't know if your views on normalcy would be highly celebrated however I appreciate it."
Laughing gently another question formed in your mind, "If you don't mind me asking what happened to them?"
"I... required material for an experiment. Unfortunately their was only one source of material that I needed. However I am most pleased that the experiment was concluded with... surprising results," Gaster's eyes glanced up towards the boys bedroom, his face going soft with adoration.
Humming in understanding you met Gaster's eyes once again, "I understand."
Sitting in silence you stroked Gaster's hand, "You're hands are so soft and smooth... I'm honestly kind of surprised."
Gaster's tinted face darkened ever so slightly, "It's because of the magic that courses through our forms that our bodies are... softer then expected."
"That's amazing," You murmured as you continued to run your thumb over the soft smooth bones of Gaster's hands, not noticing the look of twinkling adoration.
Gaster
Gaster stared at you, a feeling rising in his soul as he studied your hair and your shining eyes. The way you looked at him like he was an amazing specimen and the way you stroked your thumb across his hand formed the urge within him to embrace you and to simply never let you go.
Where did this feeling come from... it's almost primitive. I should not feel like this and yet I do.
Gaster's heart pounded against his chest as he studied your figure. He was taller then you, then again he was taller then many monsters in the Underground except for Asgore.
This feeling though... it is not uncomfortable, rather it is.... warm.
Warm, that word. It was perfect but at the same time too simple. However that was what it was. You made him feel warm and relaxed but at the same time you made him feel like he had just run a marathon with every beat of his soul.

Gaster turned his gaze back to the papers, leaving his glove discarded to the side. After a short time he noticed the strokes of your thumb against his hand had ceased. He flicked his eyes in your direction. You were lying their, eyes closed, a calm pattern of breathing tickling his hand that was still wrapped up in your own as a smile played faintly upon your lips. Smiling down at the sleeping figure Gaster put his work aside and scooped you up gently into his arms. He made his way up stairs and laid you down onto the bed. He pulled the blanket over your sleeping form.
Gaster hesitated as he was about to leave. He quickly swooped down and lay soft kiss to your forehead before striding rapidly from the room.

When you awoke it was to the sound of birds chirping and the soft morning light draped across your bed. You noticed with slight surprise that you were in your bed.
Gaster must have carried me upstairs.
You slid out of the bed and decided to shower and change into fresh clothes. After changing you made your way downstairs.
The two boys were already awake and were munching on toast. Gaster was also there, he was sipping from a mug of hot coffee while reading the paper.
It's almost like a normal human family... I don't understand why us Humans banished them.
"Good morning, _________~" Papyrus greeted happily from his seat.
"Morning Papyrus," You leaned over and pecked the adorable skeleton on the skull. He giggled happily.
"Morning Sans," You smiled at the older of the two children.
Sans beamed and returned the greeting through pun. Gaster sent a look of exasperation in his sons direction before returning to his paper.
You smiled at Gaster, "Morning Gaster."
The skeleton rather quickly flicked his eyes to yours then back to the paper while firing a mumbled morning. You were surprised by this reaction. Then you noticed something that might explain why the abrupt and awkward exchange.
Gaster's face was bright purple.
Wait... is he blushing? Why?
You pursed your lips and took a seat beside the skeleton, "So, Gaster. I'm glad we talked last night."
Gaster tensed but nodded, "I am glad we managed to communicate as well."
You raised an eyebrow.
Okay, He's definitely acting stranger then usual
"Hmm, Well I never did thank you for making sure I made it to bed, so thank you," You told him, watching his reaction carefully.
Interestingly Gaster's purple dusting darkened, "I-it was no problematic matter."
Interesting. I wonder~
"It was especially nice when you-" You began. However a gloved hand snapped over your mouth.
"Excuse me, Sons but I must talk privately with ______."
The boys were surprised with the sudden outburst but showed little interest when Gaster led you out of the kitchen.
When he was finally happy with the distance between them and the kitchen he stopped and turned around.
"I apologise for the uncommon behavior that I portrayed last night. It was unprofessional of me... -" Gaster began to ramble.
"Gaster.... I-I don't actually know what happened last night. I just thought you were acting strangely," You told him.
Gaster seemed to deflate, "O-oh."
"However now that I know something did happen I would very much so like to know what," You stated.
Gaster deflated even further, "I... I may or may not have... kissed... your forehead after carrying you to your quarters."
Kissed.... kissed....kissed. OMG KISSED!
A burning sensation began to warm your cheeks.
Gaster looked away in embarrassment and shame.
"Y-you kissed me...?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because... there is something about you that makes me feel... Alive," Gaster answered.
I make him feel alive.
You swallowed, "W-would... would you do it again?"
Gaster still didn't meet your eyes, "Yes."
Without realizing it you stepped forward and wrapped our arms around his neck, "Would... would you do it again right now?"
Gaster finally turned to meet your eyes, "Yes."
He bent downwards and your lips met his soft bone ones.
There was a cackle of magic as the two of you met in the middle.
Alive
That's what he had said you made him feel. That exactly how you felt now, kissing the scientist.
Kissing Gaster.
Your heart soared as you hummed into the kiss.
However before it could progress any further there was a cough from behind you.
Gaster opened an eye and glanced behind you before pulling away. You also pulled away and spun around to see two little skeletons watching you. Sans had an amused look on his face while Papyrus stared wide eyed.
"Sorry to interrupt... I think," Sans smirked.
You felt your cheeks burn in embarrassment.
From his side Papyrus's face morphed into excitement, "Does that mean ______ will be our new Mummy!"
Beside you Gaster was the colour of a plum, he was wordlessly gaping at his youngest son.
Sans luckily came to their rescue, "Well first Dad's gotta propose."
Okay maybe not so luckily.
"Ah... Papyrus, I-I mean I'd love to be your Mummy but me and your Daddy have only just..."
Started what Dating? Kissing? Admitting something might be there? God Damnit what am I meant to say
Gaster attempted to come in for the save, "W-we'll see Papyrus."
You felt your heart skip a beat.
We'll see... does that mean he... he might want to try it?
"Why don't you and Sans go upstairs and get ready for the day," Gaster suggested.
Sans took Papyrus's hand and started trudging up the steps, leaving with a quick wink at the two adults, "Sure, we'll leave you two to it."
Cheeky little...
As soon as the two had disappeared into their room Gaster turned back to face you.
"So," You started.
Gaster shuffled awkwardly, "W-would you be willing to d-date a pile of old bones like myself?"
You smiled, "I would be honored."
Gaster smiled, relief evident, as he leaned downwards to place a soft kiss to your cheek.

For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If you were transported from this world to another almost identical. If you were transported from your life to your teenage self.If you had to restart your life again.Would you, or would you cling to your memories? This is a Japanese manga/anime -style slice of life high school romance with a splash of sci-fi. Ensemble cast, so if you only want one main character this is not for you. It's also a repost of books I already published here. It's cleaned up, and it's published the way I meant it to be read. For those reasons the very concept of a release schedule lacks meaning. Chapters are either miniscule or humungous.
