《Death Note Boyfriend Scenarios》He meets your family

After long and endless days of studying, tests, name writing, and work, you and Light are finally finished with college, and you guys are still happy together.
"You know, you've never really met my family," You say suddenly. Light looks over at you and shrugs.
"I guess you're right. It might be about time for me to meet them then," Light responds with a slight chuckle. You smile and rest your head on his shoulder, his hand holding yours, rubbing gentle circles with his thumb.
"They're going to love you."
+++
Light arrives at your house right on time, 8 o'clock, just like you asked. You are extremely nervous for your parents to meet Light. You know Light is a great guy with an amazing charm, however, you know your parents have a habit of being judgemental sometimes. Especially when it comes to you dating. You also worry about Ryuk showing up. Sure, they aren't going to see him, but you have visions of him picking something up and it just levitating around freaking everyone out.
"You look lovely," Light says giving your kiss a cheek when you open the door for him.
"Thank you, sweetie." You take his hand and lead him into the dining room where your parents have set up (favorite meal) for dinner. "Mom, Dad, this is Light Yagami, my boyfriend." Your dad kinda just sits there a little dumbfounded, but your mom gets quite excited.
"Finally, (F/N), you've brought home a guy! A good looking one too!" You quickly hide your face in Light's shoulder when your mom says that.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. (L/N), It's very nice to meet you. You have a lovely home," Light says as gentlemanly and composed as ever.
"Oh, please! Call me (M/N)!"
You sit next to Lawliet eating a piece of chocolate cake while he was watching surveillance tapes as usual. You turn to look over at your boyfriend and gently begin to play with his hair causing him to give you a small smile.
"Hey, Lawliet?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think... do you think you would be up to having dinner with my family tomorrow night?" You ask a little hesitantly. He nods his head but looks down at you.
"Why do you sound so on edge? Why wouldn't I want to meet them. We've been significant others for a year."

You laugh a little. "I know I just didn't think you would want to or feel comfortable. They can be really censorious. And they ask a lot of personal questions." He snorts and takes your hand in his.
"How am I supposed to spend the rest of my life with you if I don't even meet your parents?"
+++
For the first time in forever, Lawliet wears something that is not his white t-shirt and jeans. In fact, he comes wearing a brown sweater vest and black pants. He tells you that Watari made him. As of now, you and Lawliet sit rather uncomfortably at the dining room table. You warned Lawliet this would happen.
"Do you brush your hair?" Your mother asks.
"What do you do for a living? You look like someone who works at a drug store," your father quirps.
"Are you going to be able to provide for (F/N)."
"What is your financial status."
When the dinner with your family, which you felt like would go on for ages, is over you and Lawliet walk back to headquarters so he can continue working. The whole time, you apologize profoundly.
"Why are you apologizing?"
"Because I knew they would do this, I should have never asked." Lawliet chuckles and pulls you down to sit on his lap, then feed you some of his cake.
"It really isn't that big of deal. Do you really think I haven't heard stuff like that before?" You sigh and rest your head against his shoulder, listening to the sound of the keyboard for the rest of the night.
"When can we meet him?" Your mother asks while you and her sit on the couch drinking tea. You shrug. Even after dating for year and a half now, Mello still hasn't met your parents. Part of you feels that if you were to introduce Mello to them they wouldn't like him due to his resilient persona. But the more you thought about it, you were in love with him, and it was about time they finally meet the guy you hoped to spend many more years with.
"I could invite him over for dinner tomorrow," You suggest. Your mother claps her hands in approval.
"Perfect! I'll have Dad cook his famous bolognese!"

"Alright, mum."

Mello is just as hesitant about meeting your parents as you were about having him over. But of course he agrees to come and have dinner. He arrives at your doorstep dressed all in leather and his hair combed more than usual. He has a nervous look on his face.
"Are you ok?" you ask him.
"Yes." You bring him into the dining room where your parents give him a warm welcome.
+++
The dinner goes very well! Mello gets along with both of your parents, especially your dad. Mello and your father talk for ages about things such as politics and aspirations. You are very happy with how the dinner turned out.
"You seem like a good fit for my daughter and you two seem very happy together," your father begins. "Welcome to the family!"
Mello smiles joyously and wraps an arm around your shoulder while shaking your fathers hand. "Thank you, Mr. (L/N). You have no idea how happy I am hearing that from you. I love (F/N) with all my heart; she brings out the best in me. I vow to always be there and protect her."
"That is all we could ever ask for," your mother says smiling.
"When am I going to meet your family?" Matt asks while you guys are playing Friday the 13th.
"You want to meet my parents? Usually the boyfriend doesn't want to meet the parents," You say laughing a little bit. Twenty minutes later when the game ends you go to order a pizza. When you come back, Matt pulls you to him and begins to play with your hair.
"I wanna meet your parents, (F/N)."
"Alright, I'm not opposed. But there is one thing..."
"What?"
"You can't smoke."
+++
"You must be Matt!" Your mother says practically dragging him into the house and to the living room, plopping you onto the couch. "To think we are only meeting you now! (F/N) talks a lot about you."
"Does she now?" Matt asks smirking.
You roll your eyes.
Your father comes in and sits on an arm chair and sends dagger across the room towards Matt. You and Matt get the feeling your father already doesn't like him. "Matthew, what do you do for a living?"
"Oh, uh, you can call me Matt-"
"Matt is short for Matthew, is it not? Are you really trying to correct me?"
"No, I just-"
"Let me ask you again, what do you do for a living?" Matt just stares at him blankly before straightening his back and smiling proudly.
"I am the third successor of L." You spit out your drink.
"Why are you telling them that? Aren't you suppose to be keeping that under the radar or something? You don't need to try and impress them like that." You say whispering aggressively into Matt's ear. He chuckles and wraps his arm around you.
"Impress them? No need to."
The rest of the night consists of your father questioning Matt and him instantly regretting bringing up the whole L successor thing.
"Are you nearly ready?" You shout from the other room.
"I look bad," Near mumbles staring at himself in the mirror. He feels like he should have dressed up more for meeting your family, but all he had was the same white shirt and white pants. Plus, he feels more comfortable in that attire. He doesn't really want to wear anything else. You sigh and walk up to him giving him a big hug.
"They're going to love you."
"Are you sure?"
"How could they not?"
+++
Dinner is silent. No one really knows what to say. You can feel Near becoming tense so you hold his hand under the table to calm him down a little. You're not really sure if it is working though. He hardly eats the spaghetti your mother made. He just twirls it around on his fork like he would twirl his hair.
"Do you not like it?" My mother asks?
"Oh, no, I do, I just..." Near didn't know what to say and you were beginning to think this dinner was doomed, but suddenly your niece comes into the room holding two toy robots. You watch as Nears eyes light up at the sight. Your niece walks over to him with a large smile across her face.
"Do you want to play with me?" She asks Near holding up one of the robots towards him. At first, he's frozen, but then he smiles back at her and gently takes the robot.
"Of course I would."

Mortis Operandi 1- New Hire
Thank you for reading, I have to start with that. The feedback and encouragement from RoyalRoad users helped me finish my book. I left the unedited version up as I worked on editing and making it a little more polished. However the time has come for me to put it on Amazon and hopefully let other people read the story. If you have Kindle unlimited you should be able to read the story there. If you just want to order an ebook version you can do that as well. I should have a paperback version coming up. https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07T46B4NM Again thank you for reading and helping me on this journey. It hasn't ended however, my second book which I'm hoping to do well enough that reading the first isn't completely necessary, is still being worked on here, https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/24562/mortis-operandi-2--terms-and-conditions . Any feedback, comments, even critism is welcome as I work on giving you the best version of my story. I'll leave the first two chapters up here, unless Amazon says otherwise. There should be enough differences to avoid issues though. THANK YOU! Thank you! thank you! __________________________________ Adventurers enter dungeons every day. When you are trying to study ancient lore or plan on conquering a kingdom, you don't want to worry about all that. You just want peace. Mortis Operandi is a different kind of company. One that celebrates diversity. One that celebrates value in individuals. With flexible pay and plenty of advancement opportunities, it is a company that knows its workers are it's most valuable asset. As they design, build, and install traps, rooms, obstacles, and repair they are a one stop shop. When a possible recall sets events into motion, the company must pivot in a new paradigm of full circle Dungeon service. The Goblin Eft No-toes has a solution that entwines ex-adventurer Elric into the business of death. *Note the above statements are forward looking statements.
