《Mystery Contests & Writing Prompts》Contest #17 | Paranormal Bodies | CLOSED

In a town full of mysteries and things that go bump in the night, we want you to write a story based on ONE of the prompts below.
It's up to you to decide which role you'll step into. Will you be the spiritual psychic, or will you become a dedicated detective?
You're a small town psychic, who has recently been hired to find out the identity of a washed up body on the beach. The only problem is that no matter how hard you try, you can't get a good reading of the body. There's something odd about it. Write about what's wrong with the body and how it ended up on your beach.
It's your first day as a police detective, and you're looking forward to proving yourself. That morning, you find a dead body left at the doorsteps of the police station. Except, the body looks just like you. It's up to you to find out what's going on. Write about the mystery behind the corpse.
Rules & Guidelines:
1. Your word count must be between 800-1500 words.
2. Submission date: June 15th 2018, 11:59 PM EST.

5. All entries must be in ENGLISH.
6. You may add your entry to a collection of short stories or contest entries.

The Mystifying Diviner
Content warning, there is cursing in the story and there will be some pretty heavy sexual innuendos in it also. I don’t really plan to write gore, but there will be fight scenes. Fair warning to readers, it is a slow start. But hopefully it is enjoyable for you to read. Follow the story of an old chef who was lucky to be selected to become a system host. Well maybe not so lucky, because gaining the system killed him. He will be given a system that might not be the best match for him. While also having to deal with a snarky system monitor who might not be that helpful most of the time. He will also use his new found powers to enjoy life in a new younger body. What you can expect from this story is bad writing, poor grammar, and slow pacing maybe. Food, cooking, comedy, slice of life, fighting, exploring, tournaments, scamming and probably face slapping. I mean who doesn’t like a good face slapping? This is my take on a cultivation story, a lot of Eastern stuff will be crammed into with a mix of Western. This story started as a goal for myself to write 60,000 words in a month for NaNoWriMo. I was able to do it even with taking days off and not writing. I plan to keep writing the story, but at a slightly slower pace. I am aiming for 2-3 chapters a week now with about 4-7k words written. This is only posted on RoyalRoad currently, and I have no plans to change that for now. Cover art is by Jack0fheart [Participant in the 2021 Royal Road Writathon Challenge for the month of November 2021]

Sentinel of the Deep
New chapters Saturday, Monday and Tuesday When Thom's best friend goes missing in the lake in the middle of Juniperville, the townsfolk are out for blood. Thom is the only one who knows about the creature who came out of the lake, who shape-shifted into the young woman who abducted his friend. Seeking answers, he travels to Scotland, where he is invited to join the Modern Folklore Investigation Team (MFIT) as an intern. As he gets closer to an objective truth about the nature and intentions of water beasts, he learns that he has a rare and special power, one with the potential to bring back his friend from the deep. The only one who knows about Thom's power is his MFIT colleague Ondine, who has a secret of her own - one she has repressed for years. Even as Ondine urges Thom back to Juniperville to a reckoning with whatever it was that stole his friend, she realizes that she, too, must face up to the truth of her legacy, and its power.

In Harry Potter with OTS System
What would happen to a guy that died out of rage while in a Guild War? What would the choice of some bored dimensional being who catches his soul in the middle of his way to the afterlife? What would happen when the guy's addiction mixes with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!? What chaos would that bring to the world!?------------------------------------Well, this was an idea I had like a week ago, and wanted to try it out on my journey to learn how to write. So, here it is. It's another fanfic, yes. Because it's easier to write. Also, with this one, I'll probably post only during the weekends, not daily like with the Novel's Extra's Extra. Firstly because I want to finish the other one, and also because I need to research a lot more (I'm not that knowledgeable in Harry Potter.) As usual, any feedback and criticism will be well received, and thanks for reading! Will be posting this in Scribble Hub and Webnovel too.
