is a profile dedicated to all things British, from stories set in our fair isles to the British authors who craft them. Join us this Halloween for our Urban Legend inspired prompt!

Urban Legends have inspired horror writing for centuries. Nothing chills the blood in our veins more than a tale of the supposedly real. British folklore is no exception and is steeped in superstition; from beasts that stalk the moors at night, to apparitions that wander the halls of stately homes and castles. None, however, are entwined more in British myth than one specific tale - the Harbinger. Ethereal beings sent to warn and end is coming.
We've selected three harbingers synonymous with different parts of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. We challenge you to take inspiration from one of them and write a flash fiction story set on Halloween, creating a brand new urban legend of your own. The twist, your characters need to find a way to survive their harbinger visit!
What will your harbinger say, will it mean death, the end of a cycle, a stark warning, or just plain bad luck? Here are your choices of harbinger...
Similar to fireflies, Corpse Candles are flickering brightly lit orbs said to congregate like unwelcome visitors outside the houses of those who had been marked for death. What will yours do, and who might they follow, and why? If these don't give you the heebee-jeebees, we don't know what will!
It's not just Hitchcock that sensed something evil was afoot with birds. Whether it be crows, ravens or magpies, bad omens follow these winged devils.
Often an old hag or spirit whose screaming cries foretell the death of those that can hear her.

The Key of the Ancients
Unknown to all races, due to its corruption and faithlessness, the destruction of the universe and all its inhabitants were already set by the Gods of the Ancients, paving the way for their idea of creating a new world. But one of the Gods objected, and created a key that could save the creation from the brink of destruction. Alcee Salva had always wanted to live peacefully, aiming to become the most reveled fowler in his generation. But, fate dictated for him to be the key in opening the magical world that was hidden by the Gods of the the Ancients to all creation. On his 12th birthday, his destiny was fulfilled, and 10 individuals of different races and of different universe were forced to stand up and journey to the world of the Gods to face their verdict, and if possible, stop it. Note: I have already finished writing 100 chapters, and I am planning to release 1 (one) chapter per day, but if many rates the novel or writes reviews, then I'd be glad to release more. So please...:D :D

Destiny Rewritten
I got this idea after watching Elseworlds. How might things have changed if Oliver's arrow didn't just destroy the book of destiny? What if it also did one more rewrite to reality? As in reset reality back to 7 years ago, when Oliver first returned home from Lian Yu. How might things have turned out different for him if he suddenly got a do over and he was the only one who realized it? This story will contain some elements from my Frosty Arrow fic. And now enjoy Destiny Rewritten.
