it was the day of innerhigh tournament and you and the team were watching match.
"karsuno is looking good this year" semi says beside you as you all watched the game.
"is this why ushijima felt threatened?" goshiki said innocently says as tendou choked on his banana.
"dude really" you deadpan at his actions slightly chuckling as it brings up mood because the fact you were sitting by the one and only ushijima made it awkward.
the game went on - karasuno ended up winning. you could see the sad looks on oikawa and iwaizumis face.
you were cheering for both teams but you were slighting going for seijoh for this one. oikawa and iwaizumis last year at highschool and playing together.
you, iwaizumi and oikawa were pretty close, despite the fact you went to shiratorizawa all three of you seem like close buds.
all three of you guys met a milkbread bakery and there were not tables left so oikawa and iwaizumi had to share with you - every since that day all three of you kept contact and stayed very close friends.
"time to get ready. the next match is us" ushijima calls - you completely ignore him and ran down the stairs but you felt a hand in your shoulder.
"what?" you said unfazed.
"it's time to-"
"no. lemme go take care of something" you snapped and left it like that.
you ran down the stairs seeing seijoh team in tears "they really deserve to go to nationals" you frown.
seijoh said their "thank you's" and packed their bags and left , oikawa and iwaizumi stayed behind looking at the volleyball one last time.
"hey beefy arms and hot milk bread guy" you said behind them trying to cheer them up.
"MILKBREAD?"
"SHIRATORI- I MEAN MILKBREAD?"

oikawa and iwaizumi turn their head around seeing you with opened arms - "y/n what are you doing here? aren't you suppose to be with your team?" iwaizumi asked you as you nod.
"i wanted to see you guys" you softly smiles.
"thank god you ditched suckyzawa for us" oikawa dramatically puts his hands on his hip making you giggle.
you gave them one last smile and looked at the two "you two worked really hard out there you know..."
"it wasn't enough-"
"oikawa let her finish."
"but don't give up. keep working hard and i promise you'll win. you'll represent japan and you'll make me proud! so please don't be discouraged, i believe in you both" you said trying not to cry.
it was the last of oikawa and iwaizumis straw and all three of you guys hugged in each other's arms.
"thank you y/n." they both said durning sobs.
"of course" you rub their backs in comfort.

Two Sides
Heroes and monsters are the staples of fantasy. Swords and magic, fairies and dragons, adventures and death; all things went hand in hand in some worlds not our own. Elaine Dawn grew up listening to those stories as a child, imagining, aspiring, yet as she grew she slowly lost her dreams and became detached from what the world could be, slowly becoming one with the world that was. Yet one night she found herself in a dream that became reality, and oh there they were; heroes and monsters, swords of steel, magic of tales, fairies and dragons of old, and adventures that held riches and death both. She had no fantastic magic, no supernatural strength. All she had was herself, her coin, and her life. But that was enough. As she stared into the distance, to the mountain-sized horrors of the night, she smiled and tossed her coin once again.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
