《Falling For You {Kita Shinsuke}》{Chapter 19: A New Role}

The class was filled with quiet chatter as we were studying for our final exam.
I was focused until Haruko lightly nudged me, gaining my attention.
"Hey Hana" Haruko whispered.
I hummed quietly in response, not wanting to get in trouble.
"What are yer planning to do? Ya know, since yer can't play volleyball anymore" she asked.
I stopped for a moment and thought about it.
"Hm, I was thinking maybe I could sign up for the manager position on the boy's team, they're in desperate need of one" I answered quietly, seeing Fujiwara-sensei walk around the class.
"Eh? And not the girl's team? Nina's gonna whine about that for weeks, maybe even forever" Haruko commented, noticing the teacher walking around.
"I know that but...the boys barely survived a practice match, imagine them during a training camp or a tournament" I said, continuing to read.
"Hm, that's true" she said, resting her cheek on her hand.
"It's just a shame that the team's gonna lose a skilled player like you, Hana, we'll miss ya" she commented.
"I'll miss you guys too..but I guess that there are some things that can't be helped" I finished, looking at her before going back to my studies.
"I'm just saying this but...I support yer decision, Miya" Fujiwara-sensei quietly said from behind us after eavesdropping on our conversation.
Haruko and I got chills down our spine as we apologised and went back to work.
I sat across from Shinsuke, studying some more in a quiet corner of the library.
I'll be in my third year soon...
I thought, stopping to stare out the window.
"What are yer thinking about?" Shinsuke asked, not looking up and still reading his notes.
I turned to see him still focusing on his work.
Hard working as always...
"I'm just wondering what I should do next year" I answered, putting my elbows on the table and resting my chin on my hands, staring at him lovingly.
Shinsuke stopped for a moment, thinking about it.
"Maybe I could join the Home Economics club?" I wondered, wanting to mislead him.
"Or yer could join the boys' volleyball club, we're in need of a manager" he suggested, looking at me with hopeful eyes.

I laughed quietly in response, poking his cheek.
"Maybe..." I trailed off, teasing him slightly.
Shinsuke sighed and looked at the clock.
"We have a few minutes to spare, let's go and eat" he said, packing up.
I hummed and did the same before we exited the library.
"Oh, I just remembered that I had something to do" I said, looking at Shinsuke.
"I'll go on first, I'll see yer later, Hana" he said, kissing my cheek before leaving.
I sighed blissfully and made my way to the faculty room, a hand on my cheek where Shinsuke kissed me.
He really is going to be the end of me...
.
.
.
I knocked on the door before coach Kurosu opened it, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Miya, what a nice surprise" he said, chuckling slightly.
"Hello, sensei" I greeted, bowing.
I wonder how the boys would react?...
I thought while walking inside.
As soon as I entered, a stray ball was barreling straight towards me like a bullet train.
"WATCH OUT!!!"
I received the ball, sending it to the front court, where the setter is usually is.
Old habits die hard I guess...
"What a nice way to greet someone" I commented, looking at Osamu.
"Sorry..." he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck .
I waved it off and told him not to worry about it.
"So, what are yer doing here, Nee-san?" Atsumu questioned, looking at me.
"Am I not allowed to watch my beloved brothers play volleyball?" I countered, teasing him as I tilted my head.
"T-That's not what I meant!!" he stammered, the coach walking in, following his outburst.
"Ok boys, gather around!!!" Kurosu-sensei instructed.
The boys grouped together as he spoke.
"Yer boys did well this year, let's work harder next year with the addition of a new member" Kurosu-sensei said.
Kurosu looked at me and smiled.
"Yo, I'll be yer guys' manager staring next year" I said casually while waving.
It was silent in the gym for a while before Atsumu bursted out in excitement.
"WOOHOOO, NEE-SAN'S OUR MANAGER!!!!!" he shouted in glee as Osamu smiled, his happiness expressed more quietly.
The entire team sweatdropped, watching Atsumu celebrating as if they won nationals already.

I helped put the nets and volleyballs away before I waited outside for the twins to finish changing.
They take so long to change... its like I have twin sisters rather than twin brothers...
I thought, sweat-dropping a little.
I got lost in my thoughts before I felt warm lips on my forehead.
I looked up to see Shinsuke's smiling face as he wrapped his arms around my waist, smiling into my neck.
"Hey Shin..." I greeted, accepting the affection wholeheartedly.
"Yer didn't tell me that yer signed up for the manager's position" he mumbled into my hair.
I giggled, wrapping my arms around his neck, remembering the meeting during lunch.
"What can I do for ya?" he asked.
"I would like to sign up for the manager's position for next year" I replied, a soft smile on my face.
Kurosu was taken back for a moment before he chucked.
"Yer very welcome to have the position, I'll reserve the spot for ya when the school year starts again" Kurosu-sensei offered.
"I would like that very much, thank you for the opportunity" I replied politely, bowing in thanks.
"I wonder how yer related to those twins, yer so well-behaved and calm" he wondered, sweadropping.
"I wanted to surprise you~" I answered, smiling up at him.
Shinsuke smiled in response, kissing my cheek affectionately before we pulled away.
Footsteps were heard, coming closer to where we were.
"Nee-san, I'm hungry..." Osamu said, looking at me with slightly sad eyes.
Samu always gets a little down when he's hungry...
I thought, ruffling his hair.
"Let's go home then, I'll make ya some food" I offered.
He nodded before walking ahead, eager to go home and eat.
"I'll see yer tomorrow then, Hana" Shinsuke whispered into my ear.
"Alright, see ya, Shinsuke" I replied, kissing his cheek before noticing that the blonde haired twin was no where to be found.
I looked inside the gym, seeing him practicing his serves.
I decided to watch him, leaning against the door frame.
He bounced the ball, placing the ball in front of him and taking a deep breath as he closed his eyes.
He looks so focused...
I thought, admiring his concentration.
He eyes shot open before tossing the ball up, breaking into a run before jumping and swinging his arm, hitting the ball to the other side of the court.
It went out...
Atsumu groaned in frustration, picking up the ball and starting again.
Hm...he's too focused on putting power into the ball...his normal serves easily get out of control...
"Tsumu" I called, walking closer to him.
He turned his attention to me, raising his eyes brows.
"Do yer want to know how to do a jump float?" I asked.
He perked up at the offer and nodded his head vigorously in excitement.
I chuckled and began to give him instructions.
.
.
.
Atsumu held the ball in front of him once again, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes.
I believe...that one day...this will end up to be one of his greatest weapons...
I thought, proudly observing the blonde.
His eye shot open before tossing the ball up, running then jumping.
His hand came in contact with the ball as it floated successfully, appearing to be landing out before landing just in front of the line.
Atsumu stared at the other side for a moment before slowly turning to me with an expression of pure happiness on his face.
"I did it, Nee-san!!!" he laughed, picking me up and swinging me around in excitement.
I laughed and held him back, celebrating his success with him.
"Alright, alright" I said, calming him down.
"Let's go home now, Samu's hungry...and I think you are too" I chuckled, hearing his stomach rumble in hunger.
.
.
.
"I'm sorry, Samu" I said softly, putting down his food and pecking his cheek.
"...yer forgot about me..." he said, major sulk lines appearing on this forehead.
"I'm sorry, I was just teaching Tsumu how to do a float" I explained, looking into his eyes apologetically.
"And I was just about to die of starvation..." he countered sadly, grabbing his chopsticks before digging in.
His sadness completely sky rocketed during the time I was teaching Tsumu that serve...
I thought, patting his head as he ate his food.
"I'll go through some spiking drills with ya..." I offered, trying to bring him out of his depressed state.

Stories about "what if" world's where things operate like what a modern person would see in a video game. But another more so would be what it is the people we call NPC's actually think. This story explores such a situation on such a world. My story is called: "I'm JUST a Farmer, NOT an Adventurer!!!" A lighthearted comedy Isekai light novel currently ongoing. I really appreciate feedback and take it all under consideration. Everything helps me improve my story. Let me know your thoughts, what you would have preferred to see, or even things you'd hope happen. I always enjoy hearing people's thoughts. I hope you enjoy reading!
