《You Enlighten My World ( Taekook ff )》Part 79

Jimin was making Tae smile while others in the room were looking at those two with fond eyes when they heard someone clearing his throat.
It's doctor Choi, the doctor who was treating Tae accompanied by the nurse from earlier. As the doctor saw the scene inside the room, he smiled a little "sorry to disturb you all, but I need to check up on the patient" he said.
"Sure Dr Choi" Namjoon said "Jinnie, Jimin come here" he called them to where he was standing and "let Dr do his work" he told them.
Both of them nodded their heads and left the bed. They all stood at one side of the room.
"You guys have to leave the room while I do the check up" the doctor informed them and turned towards the bed where Jungkook was still sitting holding Tae "Mr Jeon please make him sleep properly on the bed" he told him.
Jungkook made Tae lie properly on the bed while others left the room. As Jungkook was done making him sleep Tae held his hand tightly "don't go" he pleaded.
Jungkook looked helplessly at the doctor who had asked everyone to leave the room. The doctor understood his predicament "you can stay here Mr Jeon" the doctor told him and Jungkook smiled gratefully at him.
The doctor started checking Tae "so Taehyung..shi are you feeling any pain in your chest or any stuffy feeling?" The doctor asked Tae who nodded his head in negative "no" he answered.
"That's good," Dr Choi said, "I heard that you hurt your hand, does your hand pains anymore?" He again inquired.
"No" Tae said "but…"
"But?" Dr Choi encouraged him.
"My knee hurts" Tae let him know.
Jungkook looked at him worriedly "baby why didn't you tell me about it? From when it's hurting you?" He asked.
"From the time I woke up," Tae said in a small voice.
"Then why didn't you tell me that?" Jungkook again asked.
"I didn't want to make you worry" came the reply.
"Which one of your legs hurt?" The doctor inquired.
"Left," said Tae.
The doctor rolled Tae's pants up to his knee and a big red scrape mark came into view. Jungkook gasped looking at the wound "how did this happen?" He voiced out.
"He must have gotten it when he fell earlier," the nurse said.
"But, he didn't say anything about it at that time!" Jungkook was shocked to see the wound.
"I guess he didn't feel any pain at that time because of the effect of the sedative. Now that it's effects wore off he is feeling the pain. Don't worry I'll dress it now" doctor Choi told the worried man.
As the doctor was dressing the wound, Tae hissed, feeling the sting of the antiseptic.
Jungkook kept staring at the boy who can't even bear the little sting of the medicine yet didn't tell anyone that his knee was hurting for so long just because he didn't want to make Jungkook worried. Jungkook didn't know what to feel, should he feel happy that Tae loves him so much that he even hid his pain so that he won't get worried or should he feel sad that Tae is hiding his pain from him.
As soon as the doctor was done putting bandaid on his wound, Tae pulled Jungkook's hand "Kookie tell them I won't get shots" he told him, remembering how earlier the nurse had given him a shot after she bandaged his hand.

Before Jungkook could say anything, the doctor spoke out "okay I won't give you a shot, but you have let Mr Jeon come with me for sometime. I need to talk to him about something" the doctor bargained.
"No" came the immediate answer from Tae "talk here, I won't let my Kookie go" he said stubbornly and glared at the doctor. How dare the doctor try to take his Kookie away from him, he thought.
"I can't talk here. It's against the rules" the doctor said and "I don't care, I will not let you take my Kookie" Tae still argued.
"Baby, please" Jungkook tried to make Tae understand.
"No no no, I won't let you leave me again" Tae whined, he was on the verge of crying again.
As the doctor saw that the boy was getting worked up "okay, okay let's do one thing, you see that window" he pointed at the window from which they can see the corridor outside "how about me and Mr Jeon go and talk there? You can see us from here, is that okay with you?" He suggested.
Tae seemed to be thinking something deeply "baby please, just for a little while" Jungkook requested "okay" Tae finally agreed.
"Okay Mr Jeon I'll be there" the doctor said and left the room, the nurse following him.
"I'll just be back," Jungkook said and kissed Tae on his forehead. He too followed the doctor.
Once outside "you guys can go in, go keep him company" the doctor told others who were waiting outside the room. They all entered the room, except Namjoon, he stayed back with Jungkook to hear what the doctor had to say.
"Doctor is he okay?" Jungkook asked worriedly as he looked through the window, to see Tae sitting on the bed, staring at him from the window.
"He is okay, a little weak but otherwise he is okay" the doctor informed him "but that's physically, as for his mental state you already saw how he is" he said.
"He is going to be okay isn't he?" This time Namjoon asked.
"Hmm I guess he will be after some days. But Mr Jeon you have to be really patient with him as you are the one he needs most now. As you already saw how he is refusing to let you out of his sight even for a moment. I think he has developed a fear in his mind that you will be gone if he lets you out of his sight even for a second. So you have to stay with him almost all the time at least for a few days and make him assured of your presence, that you won't be gone if he leaves you for sometime. I hope eventually he will come round." The doctor told Jungkook.
"I will be. I will be with him all the time. I won't leave him alone even for a moment. I will do everything to bring my happy and cheerful Tae back" Jungkook said determinedly.
The doctor patted his back encouragingly.
"When will we be able to take him home back? Knowing Tae he wouldn't want to stay in the hospital for long" Jungkook asked.
"You can take him back now itself, just make sure he takes his meds well," the doctor said, "Mr Kim, you can come with me to complete the discharge procedure," he told Namjoon.
Namjoon followed the doctor while Jungkook went inside the room. As soon as he entered "Kookie" Tae called him and made grabby hands. Jungkook went and sat in front of him and Tae buried his face in his chest "I want to go home" he said.

"We will go home soon baby, appa went to complete the discharge procedure once he comes back we will go okay" Jungkook said cupping Tae's face. "Baby, will you listen to me if I say something to you?" Jungkook asked him.
"Hmm" came the answer.
"Please don't hide your pain from me, don't ever do that, promise me you will never do that again" Jungkook requested in a pained voice.
Tae stared at Jungkook's face, he understood why Jungkook was saying that, it's because he hid the fact from him that his knee was hurting for so long.
"Okay I promise" he said and Jungkook kissed the top of his head "my good baby" he murmured and a faint smile came to Tae's lips hearing those familiar words that he thought he would never hear again.
After sometime Namjoon came back and told them that they can leave the hospital now. Jin helped Tae to change his clothes and Jungkook picked Tae up in his arms and took him to Namjoon's car. He sat in the back with Tae while the older couple sat on the front. They left the hospital while others followed them in their cars.
Once they reached the parking of the building where Jungkook's flat is situated, Jungkook once again picked Tae up and took him to their home. Everyone else followed the couple.
Jungkook took Tae to his room and placed him on the bed and sat beside him.
"I will go fix something quickly for lunch" Jin said "it's almost past lunchtime and none of you had anything, I'll try to make it fast" he left the room and Namjoon followed him.
"Jimin will you please come and sit here with Tae?" Jungkook looked at Jimin "I need to do something" he said.
Jimin nodded his head, went and sat beside his best friend.
As Jungkook was getting up from the bed "where are you going?" Tae asked in a panicked voice, pulling the Hem of his shirt.
"I need to talk to appa about something, I will just be back" Jungkook told him as he cupped his cheek.
"No don't go please" Tae whined. "Please baby, just for five minutes," Jungkook pleaded.
"Only five minutes" Tae said and Jungkook nodded his head "okay, but only five minutes" Tae finally agreed to let him go.
Jungkook smiled and walked out of the room "Hobi, Yoongi, Soomin you guys too come with me, I want to talk to you too" he called them and the trio followed him.
Jungkook went to the kitchen where Jin was making preparations for lunch and Namjoon was sitting at the dining table.
"Eomma Appa I want to talk to you about something, will please come here?" He said and the couple came to where he was standing with his friends.
As everyone gathered around him "what I want to talk to you is" Jungkook started "I want to apologize to you all for shouting at you last night, it was really uncalled for and I am really sorry about it" he said.
"Jungkook please you don't have to apologize for it, we understand why you did that" Namjoon told him.
"Yes Kook, don't say sorry, you were worried for Tae, that's you did that, we know it," Hoseok added and others nodded their heads in affirmation.
"But still, I shouldn't have done that. You guys were shocked and saddened too. I shouldn't have shouted like that" Jungkook still kept apologising.
Jin placed a hand on his shoulder "Jungkook trust us when we say we understand why you did that. Don't feel bad about it. And you weren't completely wrong too, we shouldn't have left Tae alone like that. We were wrong too" he told his son-in-law.
"So you guys are not angry at me right?" Jungkook asked.
"No we are not, we never were" Yoongi told him and Jungkook smiled thankfully "thanks" he said.
"Appa I actually want to talk to you about something else too" Jungkook said to Namjoon.
"Yes, tell me," Namjoon said while others left them alone.
"I want to take leave for some days" Jungkook informed his father-in-law who is also his boss.
"I was going to ask you to take leave myself" Namjoon started "anyways you hardly took any leave in all these years, so you can take as much leave as you want" he told Jungkook.
"Thanks appa" Jungkook thanked him "I'll send a formal email asking for the leave later" he informed Namjoon.
"Okay, do that," Namjoon said.
"I will get back inside now, I told Tae that I'll be back in five minutes and I think he will be looking for me by now" Jungkook said and started leaving for his room.
As he was passing by the dinning table his eyes fell on the table that was ladened with different types of food. He was puzzled seeing them. Who could have put all those food there, he thought.
"Eomma" he called Jin "all this food, did you put these here?" He asked.
Jin looked at the table ladened with food and a sad look came on his face "no I didn't, Tae cooked them yesterday" he informed Jungkook.
Jungkook was shocked hearing it, as far as he knew Tae could hardly cook, then how did he make all those food, he thought.
Jin noticed Jungkook's confused expression "he learned cooking because he wanted to surprise you" he told Jungkook "I think he cooked all this yesterday so that he could give you surprise when you come back but then all that happened." He ended sadly.
Jungkook looked at the table then at Jin's face and again at the table ladened with the food, two drops of tears escaped his eyes and rolled down his cheeks but he almost immediately wiped them off his face, rather harshly. With a determined look on his face, he again started walking towards his room.
Jin stared at the retreating back of Jungkook with worried eyes. He can see it, little by little Jungkook is breaking inside seeing Tae like that but still he is trying to hold himself together for Tae's sake. Jin was worried that how long Jungkook will be able to hold himself together before he breaks down, after all every human has a certain breaking point and Jungkook too is a human only. In his heart Jin prayed and hoped that Tae will become normal before Jungkook breaks down completely.
As Jungkook entered his room and started walking towards the bed where Tae was, his eyes fell on the photo behind the wall of the bed. He stopped walking and stared at the photo that they took in Jeju, he looked at Tae's face in that photo, the boy looked so happy in that picture, smiling big without any worry and sadness. His heart longed to see the love of his life again like that, happy and carefree.
Tae saw how Jungkook stopped walking and stared at something longingly, he followed the older's line of vision and turned back to see what Jungkook was seeing. He saw the photo that he hung the previous day. Suddenly he remembered all the plans he had made for that day but couldn't fulfill even a single one of them. Tears wailed up in his eyes remembering all those things. He turned to the front and once again looked at Jungkook's face that still had that longing look on it. Tae understood what Jungkook was feeling, he understood what the older was longing for. After all, just like Jungkook can understand him without him saying anything, it's the same with him, he too can understand what Jungkook was feeling just by looking at his face.
"Kookie.." he called Jungkook and opened his arms, silently asking the older to come and hug him and Jungkook did so. He walked to the bed and sat in front of Tae and hugged him tightly.
"Don't worry Kookie I will be alright" Tae told him to assure him of his well being.
Jungkook nodded his head "yes you will be, I will make sure of it" he said as he bit his lower lip to stop the sob that was trying to escape his lips. "I need to stay strong for my Angel," he told himself.
Jungkook wants to stay strong for his Angel but how long will he be able to do that? How long will it take for Tae to become normal again? Well only time can give answers to these questions.
………………………..
It's half past ten and Jin is searching for his husband who is not anywhere in sight.
Well they have spent the whole day at Jungkook and Tae's place with Jungkook's best friends and Park siblings, trying to cheer Tae up. They all left from there after dinner.
And now Jin is searching for husband in the whole house. As he was passing by Tae's room, he saw the lights in the room were on. Feeling curious he entered the room and found the man he was searching in the whole house, sitting there.
Namjoon was sitting on Tae's bed, holding a picture of his son. He seemed to be lost in some deep thoughts and there were tears in his eyes. Jin felt a pang in his heart seeing his husband like that. He rushed in and knelt before the crying male.
"Joonie?" He said as he held Namjoon's hands in his "what happened? Why are you sitting here like this? And why are you crying Joonie?" Jin asked, feeling worried.
Namjoon closed his eyes hearing Jin's questions "I am sorry Jinnie" he mumbled.
Jin was shocked hearing the apology "Joonie, look at me. Tell me what happened? Why are you saying sorry?" He asked in a pleading voice.
"Tae, our child, he became like that because of me. It's all my fault. If only I hadn't sent Jungkook to that business trip none of this would have happened. Our poor child is suffering because of me" Namjoon started sobbing "Jinnie, what if, what if Jungkook hadn't come back, then what would have happened to Tae? You heard what the doctor said, didn't you? He was on the verge of having a cardiac arrest. He would have died Jinnie, died and all because of me, I would never forgive myself for what happened" Jin couldn't hear it anymore. He sat beside Namjoon on the bed and pulled him in a hug. Namjoon buried his face in Jin's shoulder and cried. Jin started rubbing his back and running his hand in Namjoon's hair,
"Please Joonie, don't think like that. Please don't blame yourself, whatever happened, it wasn't your fault. It's no one's fault, none of us knew that something like that could have happened. So stop beating yourself. Jungkook came back right, he is with Tae. Our child is going to be alright, he has his husband with him. But do you think he will like it if you blame yourself like that, tell me? No he would feel even more bad after knowing that, he will be in more pain. So please for his sake, for our child's sake, stop blaming yourself." Jin tried to make him understand.
"Do you think they will forgive me, Tae and Jungkook?" Namjoon asked and stared at Jin's face with tear filled eyes.
"They wouldn't even hold you guilty for anything and you are talking about forgiveness Joonie?" Jin asked as he wiped his husband's tears "but if it will make you feel better, then yes they will forgive you, because just like me they also know that you are not in fault" he assured his husband "now come with me, it's late and you need to sleep. Let's go to our room" Jin stood up holding Namjoon's hand and took him with himself to their room.
………………………….
"I will be waiting for you at our home,"
"okay then I will meet you at our home, love, wait for me"
Air Korea flight, boarding 22743, from Singapore to Seoul, had crashed into the sea before entering South Korea, today at 1pm. According to our sources none of the flight crew or passengers survived.
"I am sorry"
"I am sorry, Tae, I couldn't bring your Kookie back to you."
"He, he is not going to come back, he is.."
"No"
"Kookieeee...."
"Kookieeee...." Tae shouted as he woke up from his sleep with a start. He sat on the bed with tears flowing like river from his eyes.
Jungkook too woke up hearing his shout and sobs. He sat on the bed looking wide eyed at Tae. "Tae baby what happened?" He asked as he cupped the crying male's face.
"K..Kookie, K..Kookie, my Kookie," Tae kept sobbing while repeating these same words.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
